Chapter 16: The female protagonist informs her parents about the apocalyptic crisis.

With only 15 days left until the apocalypse, Su Yao prepared to tell her parents about it. She took a deep breath, picked up her phone, and dialed her parents' number with slightly trembling fingers. The moment the call connected, her familiar voice came through. Su Yao suppressed her nervousness and anxiety, trying her best to make her voice sound calm.

"Dad, Mom, it's me. How have you been lately? Are you both feeling alright?" Su Yao tried to start the conversation, but in her mind, she was already figuring out how to tell them about the apocalypse.

"We're all fine. Why are you calling all of a sudden? Is something wrong?" My mother's concerned voice came through the receiver.

Su Yao bit her lip and mustered her courage to say, "Mom and Dad, I have something very important to tell you. You must stay calm and let me finish." She paused for a moment, and after hearing a questioning response from the other end of the phone, she continued, "The world may be about to undergo a major change, just like the apocalypse in the movies, and the timeframe is very tight, there are only 15 days left."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, then the father's voice came through: "Daughter, what nonsense are you talking about? This is not something to joke about."

Su Yao's eyes reddened with anxiety: "Dad, I'm not joking. I have reliable sources, you must believe me. What you need to do now is pack your important things and come to me as soon as possible. I have a safe house prepared here that can protect us."

Su Yao's parents seemed to sense her seriousness, and their tone became stern: "Daughter, is what you're saying true? How could that be..."

“It’s true, Mom and Dad. There’s not much time left, so start packing now. Take all the cash, documents, and any meaningful photos and items. Also, take all the medicine, food, and anything else you can, especially warm clothes and other cozy items.” As Su Yao spoke, she quickly made a list of the necessary items in her mind.

After hanging up the phone, Su Yao was still worried, so she decided to go pick up her parents herself. She quickly loaded some essential supplies into the car, including weapons to deal with any potential dangers, as well as some emergency food and water.

As Su Yao sped towards her parents' house, her heart filled with anxiety. At every intersection she passed, and with every pedestrian she saw, she wondered if they knew of the impending disaster and whether they had any chance of survival.

When Su Yao arrived at her parents' building, she ran upstairs as fast as she could. As soon as she entered, she saw her parents frantically packing. Her mother's face was full of worry and fear, but when she saw Su Yao, a hint of relief flashed in her eyes.

"Daughter, what's going on? Why did this happen all of a sudden?" the mother asked, holding the protagonist's hand.

While helping her parents pack, Su Yao explained, "Mom, I can't go into the specifics right now, but we need to leave as soon as possible. Oh, and take the jade artifacts Grandpa left behind too; they might come in handy."

Her father was quietly packing up important documents and tools. Although he didn't ask any questions, Su Yao could see his seriousness.

Su Yao went into her parents' bedroom and helped them get thick blankets and warm clothes. She opened the wardrobe, took out thick down jackets and sweaters, folded them, and put them in a bag. In the drawer, she also found some commonly used medicines and put them away as well.

In the living room, the mother was organizing some household items, including pots and pans. Seeing this, the woman said, "Mom, take less of these for now, mainly the food and important things."

While tidying up, the woman made sure to check that the doors and windows were properly closed, worried that something unexpected might happen in these final moments. She left no corner unchecked, her nerves taut like a fully drawn bowstring.

After several hours of busy work, the car was fully loaded. Su Yao helped her parents into the car, and as she closed the door, a huge weight lifted from her heart. But she knew this was just the beginning; many more challenges awaited them. She started the car and sped towards the safe house, her eyes firm and resolute, for it was their family's only hope in the apocalypse.
