Chapter 1 Rebirth Before the Apocalypse

Su Yao jolted awake from the darkness, gasping for breath, her eyes filled with a mixture of terror and relief at surviving a catastrophe. She was back, back to a month before the apocalypse.

In her previous life, she struggled to survive in a post-apocalyptic world, witnessing her loved ones and friends perish at the hands of zombies, and grappling with endless fear and despair until her very last breath. But fate had given her a second chance, and she was determined not to let tragedy repeat itself. Su Yao quickly calmed herself, knowing that the most urgent task was to stockpile supplies. She took out all her savings; the numbers in her bank account dwindled, but her resolve only grew stronger. She rushed to various supermarkets, pushing shopping cart after cart like a tireless spinning top.

In the food section, she piled up bags of rice and flour, and tossed boxes of various instant foods, such as instant noodles, self-heating hot pot, and compressed biscuits, into her shopping cart. Canned foods were also plentiful; canned fruits and meats filled the space next to the shelves. She carried buckets of cooking oil into her cart, and grabbed handfuls of salt, sugar, and various seasonings.

Reaching the beverage section, Su Yao didn't hesitate for a moment. She carried away cases of bottled water, and also snapped up juices, coffee, tea, and other drinks. She knew that in the apocalypse, water was the source of life, and these drinks could replenish energy and relieve stress in times of crisis.

The household goods section was also her target. She filled several shopping carts with necessities like toilet paper and sanitary napkins. She also stocked up on large quantities of towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other toiletries. Laundry soap and dish soap were also treasured by her, as hygiene is just as important in the apocalypse.

Medical supplies were of paramount importance. Su Yao shuttled back and forth between pharmacies and medical equipment stores. She bought everything she could find: cold medicine, fever reducers, anti-inflammatory drugs, bandages, disinfectant, iodine, tweezers, scalpels, and more. She even purchased some makeshift stretchers and oxygen cylinders, just in case.

Warm clothing was also essential. She selected a large number of thick cotton coats, down jackets, warm gloves, hats, and scarves at the mall. Waterproof rain gear was also purchased, including raincoats and rain boots, which would be useful in inclement weather or special environments.

Su Yao rented several remote warehouses, hired trucks and workers, and moved the supplies in, box by box and bag by bag. The supplies in the warehouses piled up higher and higher, like small mountains, but she knew that this was far from enough.

Besides these basic supplies, Su Yao also considered other aspects. She purchased a large quantity of batteries of various models, and also prepared many flashlights and emergency lights. She also acquired tools that could provide electricity, such as solar power generation equipment and small generators. She also bought a lot of hardware tools, such as hammers, nails, screwdrivers, and wrenches, which would come in handy when repairing and reinforcing defensive facilities.

While stockpiling supplies, Su Yao discovered she had awakened a special ability. She could control flames, and when a flame first ignited in her palm, her eyes shone with surprise. The flame danced in her palm, as if it were a new dawn in her reborn destiny. This flame could not only be used to attack zombies, but also to keep warm in the cold post-apocalyptic world.

What surprised her even more was that she discovered she possessed a personal space. This space wasn't large, only about the size of a room, but it could store a lot of things. Su Yao tried putting supplies into the space and found that as long as she concentrated, items could be easily stored. This was undoubtedly a huge help, and she began to hoard goods even more frantically, transferring all the supplies from her warehouse into the space.

Just then, a mechanical voice rang in Su Yao's mind: "System binding successful." Su Yao was stunned, then overjoyed. The system's appearance gave her more security in the apocalypse. The system told her that by completing various tasks, she could earn points, which could be exchanged for various rare items, including higher-level weapons and ability-upgrading potions.

Su Yao began reviewing the system's tasks; her current tasks were to improve her ability level and continue collecting resources. She diligently practiced her ability every day, controlling the size, intensity, and shape of her flames. With continuous practice, her ability gradually strengthened, allowing her to easily ignite distant targets with her flames.
