Chapter 310 Rescuing the Researchers

The first thing that caught their eyes was a glass door. If it weren't for the door handle and the password button on the wall, they would not have been able to tell that it was a door. Through the door, they saw rows of small boxes on one side, which contained little white mice. However, these mice were very restless, jumping around and biting the glass that trapped them. Some of them even lay on the glass with difficulty, scratching the glass with their long nails and squeaking in pain. Black wires were connected to several high-end computers next to them, on which were flowing densely some data that Shangguan Wan could not understand.

Shangguan Wan was a little confused when she looked at the numbers on the password. She didn't know how to decipher it, so she turned to look at Han Lie.

Han Lie looked at Shangguan Wan's eyes that looked like she was asking for help, and his heart moved. He smiled helplessly, pointed at himself, and signaled him to come.

Shangguan Wan stepped back sheepishly, making room for Han Lie to take a look.

Han Lie took a few steps forward and looked at the password pad. He found that the four-digit buttons were no longer visible. This meant that these four numbers were the password. As long as he pressed the numbers in order, he would be able to open the door.

Han Lie quickly tried the passwords one by one, and the door opened with a click.

"That's great," Shangguan Wan said to Han Lie with appreciation.

Han Lie smiled proudly. This kind of thing was a simple matter during their mission. But he was still very happy to be praised by Shangguan Wan.

It's as sweet as eating honey.

As soon as the door opened, a pungent smell hit her. A mixture of fishy stench, blood, medicine, and the smell of rats, it was even more unpleasant than the smell of a dead body. Shangguan Wan almost vomited.

If it weren't for Han Lie's forbearing expression, Shangguan Wan would have thought there was something wrong with his sense of smell. Han Lie was so forbearing that the veins on his forehead bulged.

But they couldn't turn back, so they could only endure the nausea and walk down. After passing through the mouse's house, there was a thick silver-white door inside. This was a specially reinforced door used exclusively in research laboratories.

When the silver-white door was opened, various instruments were found inside, making a buzzing sound. The research table was filled with test tubes, detectors, and many bottles and jars with unknown contents. There were also broken limbs of zombies on the display table.

None of the dismembered zombies were intact; even their heads were split open. Only the crystal core inside was being scanned by a nearby testing instrument. A three-dimensional image of the crystal core appeared on the computer.

A string of codes was displayed next to the three-dimensional crystal core, and it looked like an astronomical number. Shangguan Wan didn't recognize any of them. They were all made up of numbers.

Then this data must be saved well, maybe you can get something from it.

There were two beds nearby, each holding two people: a zombie and a person tied to the bedside, their hands bound to the sides and their feet secured with clamps. There was also an iron hoop around their heads. Their bodies were covered in tubes, along with a heart monitor and scanner, constantly monitoring their heartbeats and detecting changes in their bodily functions.

The electrocardiogram showed an arc of fluctuations, sometimes flat, sometimes high and sometimes low. The man lying in bed was breathing intermittently. He was so pale that he seemed transparent.

Shangguan Wan looked at the man who was suffering in front of her, and thought of those people who died painfully because of failed experiments in her previous life. The last look of death in their eyes and the pain when they could not die made Shangguan Wan deeply heartbroken.

He took two steps forward and stood beside the man. He stretched out his right hand and used his healing ability to check. He found that the man had been injected with the zombie virus and his whole body was in a diseased state. However, he seemed to be able to resist the zombie virus, so he did not mutate so quickly.

"Do you know that you are about to become a zombie? Do you need help?" Shangguan Wan said coldly.

The man's eyelids twitched, and then he didn't respond.

"If you want to die, I can help you." Shangguan Wan knew that he was now in a state of extremes between good and evil. If he still had some consciousness, he would definitely ask for death, rather than being studied, turned into a zombie, and amputated.

The man's mouth moved as if nothing was said, but Shangguan Wan understood clearly that it meant thank you.

He was begging for death, he was still conscious. But he had been devoured by the virus for too long, and even Shangguan Wan was helpless, so she had to help him.

She stretched out her right hand, and a knife appeared out of thin air in her hand, stabbing it into the man's head. Shangguan Wan couldn't be blamed for being ruthless, because if she killed him somewhere else, he would mutate into a zombie, so it was better to be direct.

The electrocardiogram instantly became a flat line, without any fluctuations.
