They drove off according to their planned route. After leaving there, six cars were lined up along the way. There was a loudspeaker on the car. This loudspeaker was a temporary loudspeaker that Lone Eagle and his men had modified from a walkie-talkie. The loudspeaker kept playing the same message, "Are there any survivors now? Listen carefully, you are not fighting alone, we are here, don't lose faith and hope. If you can think of a way, please transfer to the southwest base in City A as soon as possible. There we will provide you with protection and food. No matter if you are old, old, or a child or a woman, as long as you are still alive, we will provide you with help without asking for anything in return. Please listen carefully, I say it again, without asking for anything in return. The address is in the southwest of City A. There is a southwest base here. If you can't get in, you can provide us with information that you are alive, and we will send out a rescue."
This kind of conversation has not stopped since the moment the car started.
These words might seem like a piece of cake to them, but they truly offer hope to those still trapped outside. It's both hope and a longing, a desire for life, for survival. Everyone wants to live.
The huge convoy was driving on a barren highway without flowers, plants or trees. The entire highway was empty. Apart from the sound of their vehicles passing by, there was only a trace left in this silent place, and nothing else.
Han Lie was driving the car while releasing his spiritual power around. There was endless desolation as far as the eye could see. The hot weather made it even hotter, but they seemed not to feel it. They lowered the car window a little, feeling the warm wind blowing in from outside and enjoying the cool wind in the car. It was also a different kind of enjoyment.
Shangguan Wan seemed a little drowsy in this situation. She yawned, her eyes filled with mist. After squinting, she glanced at the road ahead and closed them to rest.
Han Lie was driving and felt Shangguan Wan's shallow breathing, so he knew she was asleep. He carefully slowed down the car a lot. Compared to the previous rush, it now felt more like a trip.
The people in the car behind were discussing why Han Lie had slowed down, and Lone Eagle and the others answered without hesitation that it was because Shangguan Wan had fallen asleep. Only Shangguan Wan could make the boss do such a thing, there was no one else. The people behind understood immediately. After all, they had seen the boss's attitude towards Shangguan Wan.
Han Lie drove the Hummer forward when he saw a zombie wandering the road, shirtless, staggering towards them. Its left arm hung at its side, as if dislocated, swaying back and forth as it walked. A piece of flesh was missing from its arm, bitten off. Bright red blood flowed from the wound, running down its arm and onto its fingers before congealing. There was a bite mark on the chest of its bare torso, but it didn't look like a human bite. Human bites are round, but this one wasn't. It was an irregular shape. It suggested the bite of some animal, but they couldn't pinpoint the cause.
The zombie on the opposite side heard the movement of the car and dragged one leg towards the Hummer.
Han Lie narrowed his eyes, stepped on the accelerator, and the car sped up. However, Han Lie probably didn't want to disturb Shangguan Wan's rest, so the car was steady, and only made a bang when it hit the zombies.
The sound made Shangguan Wan wake up immediately. There was no trace of fatigue in her eyes, but a sense of alertness and clarity. This was their habit of being vigilant for a long time.
"It's okay, I ran into a mouse and woke you up." Han Lie reached out and took Shangguan Wan's hand, kissed her on the lips, and said gently and tenderly.
"It's okay," Shangguan Wan would comfort him.
"It's getting late. Let's find a place to rest first. We are tired from driving. We can continue driving tomorrow." Shangguan Wan looked at the sky which was already getting dark, and looked at her tired eyes.
"Okay." Han Lie looked around and found a large open space. He quickly parked the Hummer there and got out.
Everyone parked their cars in a big circle and lit a fire in the middle. Shangguan Wan then conjured up two fat rabbits and three fish from the space and handed them to Han Lie and the others to clean up, while she took the two pets out for some fresh air.
The two pets hadn't been out for a walk for a long time, so when they came out they were like spoiled children, instantly turning into their mutated forms and running wildly among the mountains.
"Woo,"
"Ouch!"
They roared wildly and happily. They hadn't roared like this for a long time and felt much more comfortable all over.
Shangguan Wan looked at her two pets that had grown to the size of elephants and smiled dotingly. She watched as Yanhu, who was holding the red wolf under him because of his large body, teased him from time to time.
Watching the red wolf's nimble counterattack against the flame tiger's ferocity, and watching the flame tiger crush the red wolf with its own strength, was hilarious. Before they knew it, the two pets had run off, playing and joking. Shangguan Wan didn't even think about calling them back. If they really left, she would let them go free.
Shangguan Wan stood there looking at the direction where the two pets disappeared, smiled, a smile flashed in her eyes, and then returned to the campfire, chatting with them and talking about everything under the sun.
Han Lie and his friends roasted the rabbits and fish over fire and ate them. During this time, the two pets never came back.
"Where are Flame Tiger and Red Wolf?" someone wondered. Normally, these two were the ones closest to Shangguan Wan, but they hadn't been seen for a while.
"They've gone out for some fresh air, and there's no telling whether they'll come back. We don't need to worry about them." Shangguan Wan said this, but her eyes couldn't help but look towards the place where the two pets disappeared, hoping to see a familiar figure. But there was none.
After dinner, except for those assigned to keep watch, everyone else returned to their cars to rest. The conditions did not allow them to set up a tent or anything.
Shangguan Wan and the others fell into a deep sleep, and the people on guard also felt a little sleepy. One of them was from the base, and the other was a member of the Red Eagle. These two were the first to guard the first wave, waiting for the people to come and exchange their positions two hours later. But in the silent place, there was nothing else except the crackling sound of flames.
The reason for lighting the fire was that some animals or plants were afraid of fire, so they kept lighting the fire all night. The weather was really hot, and because of the fire, both of them were sweating.
"I'm going to the bathroom and will be back soon," said the person at the base, and then he got up from the ground, rubbed the sleepiness from his face with his hands, and then stood next to a tree to relieve himself, without noticing any movement in the desert below his feet.
