Chapter 21: Different Paths Cannot Work Together

Shangguan Wan said nothing, looking at Han Lie with cold eyes, looking at the man without a trace of emotion.

This made Han Lie feel frightened. Staring at the girl's eyes, he felt as cold as an iceberg falling into her eyes.

Shangguan Wan threw the machete at the man's feet, turned around and looked outside, and said to the man

"I'm not a saint, nor am I a god. I can't protect others. I can't even protect myself, so how can I protect others? If you want to protect your wife and children, pick up the machete on the ground and protect your wife and children!"

After Shangguan Wan finished speaking, she snatched the car keys from Han Lie and walked towards the car with heavy steps.

Han Lie looked at the girl's back and felt only dead silence and loneliness. It was a feeling after experiencing life and death. He did not see the hurt in the girl's eyes, the pain of being betrayed by her family in her previous life, the pain of being brutally killed, and the helplessness. But Gu Ying saw it. He wondered what happened to this girl that made her so dead silent.

Han Lie knew he had misunderstood the girl and wanted to explain, but he didn't know how to start. Then the girl took the car keys from him. He knew he was going to miss her because he knew he no longer had the qualifications.

Shangguan Wan didn't leave after getting in the car. She was trying to calm down and think about whether she had done something wrong, but that's how human nature is. Thinking about her miserable death in her previous life, her eyes couldn't help but tear up.

Cang Ying and his men had just finished loading the truck when they saw Shangguan Wan walk out in a sad state. She sat in the driver's seat and thought about something. She exuded a sense of sadness and the pitifulness of being abandoned. It made people want to protect her.

Han Lie came out thinking the girl had left, but she was just sitting in the car in a daze. He also saw the girl's fragility. This was the first time he saw a girl who seemed so fragile that she could break at the slightest touch. She was no longer as lively and cheerful as when she was playing, nor as calm and wise as when she was analyzing, nor as ruthless and sharp as when she killed zombies. Now she was like an abandoned little girl, a girl who had lost her vitality.

Shangguan Wan suddenly raised her head and told the family to lock the door quickly. Then she took out a big knife from the car, stood in front of the car, and looked at the street in the distance.

When Shangguan Wan said this, Han Lie was the first to react. He also took a big knife and stood side by side with the girl.

The man in the shop looked at the girl's expression, quickly locked the door, and pulled the curtain inside.

Goshawk and his men also held Nepalese machetes and stood side by side. There were five of them in a row, five knives in hand, with a majestic and surging aura, vowing to duel with the zombies.

Han Lie actually wanted to comfort the girl because her crimson eyes pierced his heart. But he also knew that he was no longer qualified.

"Get ready." Shangguan Wan's tone was cold, no longer choked with sobs, only coldness.

Just as he finished speaking, more than twenty zombies came out of a shop and rushed towards them.

Shangguan Wan was the first to bear the brunt of the attack. She picked up a big knife and chopped off each head horizontally, cutting off half of a head with one stroke.

Han Lie and the others also rushed to the pile of zombies and imitated the girl to chop them down with a knife. Only by chopping them down did they realize how hard the zombies' heads were, and how Shangguan Wan, with such thin arms, could pick up the big knife and kill them one by one.

The five of them killed more than twenty zombies in three or four minutes. Upon closer inspection, the girl killed more zombies.

After killing the zombies, Shangguan Wan knocked on the door of the store and said to the inside, "Leave quickly, the smell of blood will attract more zombies."

Turning around and getting in the car, Shangguan Wan was indeed driving herself this time, and Han Lie was stunned for three or four seconds before pulling the passenger seat open and getting in. "Get in the car," she shouted to the three stunned brothers. As soon as Cang Ying and the others got in, Shangguan Wan stepped on the accelerator and drove away.

Little did she know that her heroic act today was witnessed by many people hiding at home, and that they would later worship her as their faith.

However, Han Lie had a clear idea in his mind. The girl was very strong, so strong that she didn't need his protection, and he would only hinder her from becoming the king.

But, my heart aches. Although they haven't been together for long, his whole heart revolves around the girl. His actions today must have hurt her heart. Maybe the girl will part ways with him!

He was right, because the girl felt that they had different ideas and could not work together.
