Chapter 186 Grandma is dying

Gu Yan pulled the cart fast and steady, and Ye Jinlu jogged behind him but still felt it was too slow.

Grandma was sent for emergency treatment, and Ye Jin was still confused. When he came to his senses, Gu Yan had already paid the fee and bought breakfast.

"Eat something. You need to stay healthy so you can take care of grandma."

Ye Jin ate some buns passively like a machine, while Ye Wei covered her mouth and cried softly.

It had only been a short time since she came back when grandma suffered such a great misfortune.

Ye Wei had a terrible thought in her mind. She was afraid that she was a disaster star and that it was her appearance that caused her grandmother to fall ill.

Ye Jin quickly came out of her emotions. She noticed that her sister was acting strangely, so she put her arms around her shoulders and patted her hard.

Ye Wei, who was in a state of dismay, felt her sister's closeness and her body trembled even more violently.

"Sister, is grandma okay? I'm so scared!"

"Grandma is old, so it's normal for her to have some ailments. Don't take it to heart."

"But I'm scared. So scared."

"Don't be afraid, sister is here."

Ye Jin held her sister's hand, and Ye Wei suddenly threw herself into her arms and burst into tears.

"Sister, sister, you and grandma are the only two relatives I have left. If anything happens to you, I won't be able to survive."

"Silly child, what can happen to us? As long as you are fine, we will all be fine. Can you still go to school in your current state?"

"Sister, I can do it, but I'm worried about grandma. I want to stay with her and watch her recover with my own eyes."

After waiting for a whole morning, grandma finally came out of the emergency room.

But her eyes were closed and her face was still pale. Ye Jin grabbed the doctor's sleeve and asked about her grandmother's condition: "Doctor, doctor, what's wrong with my grandmother?"

"We have tried our best, but the old man is old and his condition is not very good. Whether he can get better depends on tonight."

The doctor sighed heavily. He felt exhausted after performing surgery for several hours. The feeling of fatigue that came from not being able to save the patient despite all the effort was suffocating.

"Thank you, doctor, for your hard work."

Ye Jin did not continue to ask questions. The nurse pushed grandma into the ward, and Gu Yan carefully carried her to the bed.

The old man in his arms was skinny and felt light when he was picked up. He looked to weigh less than 70 kilograms.

The food during this period was pretty good, but the old man didn't gain a pound of weight. On the surface, it looked like he fainted today, but maybe he was already terminally ill.

This is how old people are. When they are well, everything is fine, but once they fall down, they collapse completely. Going to the hospital is just to keep them alive, but there is no way to really save them.

The two sisters stayed by their grandmother's side for a whole day without eating or drinking, hoping for a miracle to happen.

As the elderly grow old, there will always be such a day, but the elderly are their roots and the basis for them to go out and venture into the world.

If their grandmother is not around, no matter how great their achievements are, they will still feel like failures.

Until 12 o'clock in the evening, grandma still didn't wake up. Ye Wei could no longer hold on and fell asleep. Ye Jin was also on the verge of falling, but she just held on and refused to fall down.

"Jinjin, eat something and take a nap. I'll take care of grandma."

Seeing her face turn pale instantly, Gu Yan felt very worried.

Apart from eating a bun in the morning and drinking two mouthfuls of porridge at noon, she didn't eat anything all day.

"No, I want to watch over her myself. Go and rest if you feel tired."

Gu Yan was reluctant to leave and insisted on staying with her, but Ye Jin resolutely pushed him out.

Gu Yan leaned on the bench outside. He was so tired that he fell asleep without realizing it.

Seeing that everyone was asleep, Ye Jin quickly poured a cup of spring water from the space. She first moistened her grandmother's lips with the spring water, then helped her up and fed her water little by little with a small spoon.

At first, grandma didn't react. Ye Jin tried several times and water came out. She was unwilling to give up and kept insisting on this action. Gradually, grandma showed some reaction.

Her lips moved, her eyelids fluttered, and her fingers trembled slightly.

"Grandma, grandma, please wake up soon. I can't live without you."

There was a cry in Ye Jin's anxious voice. Grandma was anxious and suddenly opened her eyes.

Her face was still pale, and her voice was weak: "Jinjin, Jinjin, please stop crying. It makes grandma feel bad when you cry."

Grandma's voice was intermittent and could stop at any time.

"Grandma, I won't cry anymore. As long as you are fine, I won't cry."

Ye Jin wiped her tears with both hands. Grandma raised her old hand and gently stroked her cheek.

"Grandma is old and can't accompany you to the end. I know you are a sensible child and you have the ability. Don't let me hinder your future."

Grandma smiled weakly, the light in her eyes dimming. She was very happy that her granddaughter had grown up to be what she is today.

If it weren't for the need to accompany her, her granddaughter would have moved to the city long ago.

It's because of this old woman, with her old-fashioned ideas, she always wants to return to her roots and is unwilling to go out and explore the world.

"Grandma, I have a home only because of you. Without you, I would be a rootless duckweed. You are not a burden to me, but a warm harbor for me when I am tired!"

Ye Jin was crying so hard that she almost died, but her grandmother's smile became weaker and weaker.

"Grandma is gone and won't be with you anymore. You have to be good. It won't look good if your face is covered with tears."

"Grandma, grandma!" Seeing grandma close her eyes again, Ye Jin screamed in horror, and Ye Wei, who had just fallen asleep, was also awakened.

"Grandma, grandma, what's wrong with you?"

Ye Wei rushed over and half-knelt in front of her grandmother's bed. She cried heart-wrenchingly. When her grandmother heard the cry of her second granddaughter, she opened her eyes again, but this time she looked more tired than the last time.

"Weiwei, your sister is very promising and loves you. You should listen to her more and don't go against her, okay?"

Ye Wei nodded heavily, tears falling like beads from a broken string: "Grandma, Grandma, I understand. I will be obedient and study hard. You have to be good too."

"Grandma is not well anymore and can't be with you anymore. There are two small red envelopes in the old clothes in my closet. I prepared them for you two. I originally planned to give them to you on your birthdays, but I didn't expect it to be too late..."

Grandma sighed softly and closed her eyes again.

Ye Jin screamed, "Grandma! Grandma! Quick! Call a doctor!"

Ye Jin rushed out and woke up Gu Yan, who had just fallen asleep. Seeing Ye Jin's loss of composure, he hurriedly chased after her.

"Jinjin, Jinjin, go sit over there. I'll go call the doctor."

Ye Jin struggled and refused to sit down, so Gu Yan had no choice but to help her run to the doctor's duty room.

The whole hospital was busy because of this accident, and the doctor rushed over with a stethoscope.
