There were meetings a few days before school started. It was the first time they discovered that leaders could speak for so long. The principal spoke, school leaders spoke, and department leaders spoke. The entire two days were basically spent in speeches.
Three days into the school term, the principal discovered that the names of these top scorers were not on the student union class committee. This puzzled the principal, so he called the directors in charge of each department.
"Tell me what's going on? How come the two top students are so unknown in our school? They're not on the class committee, they're not on the student union. What are they doing?"
"Principal, let me find out. Maybe they don't want to be class committee members, so they didn't run for election."
"Do they even need to run for election? Just appoint them directly."
"Yes, yes, it was our negligence."
Several department heads hurried off to find their teachers. How could these people manage their jobs when two top scorers were both in their school and so many people were watching? How could they remain so unknown?
The teachers looked at each other and whispered, "That director, since they didn't run for election, we didn't take it seriously."
"Do they still need to run for election? That's all set in stone."
"But the class committee has already been appointed. Changing it might affect them."
"The director thought about it and agreed. You guys should go back and be smarter next time. Rules are fixed, but people are alive. I'll see what to do."
Several directors sat together to discuss letting them join the student union, which was considered an explanation. Otherwise, they would not be able to pass the principal's test. Fortunately, the personnel of the student union have not been decided yet, but they still have to come and talk to them about why they are so unknown.
When Gu Lang, Tang Xiaoxiao, and Lu Wanwan were called to the office, they didn't know what was going on. They were not in the same major or department, so why were they called to the office together?
"Hello, Director. What can I do for you?"
"Do you guys have any questions?"
This question made them even more confused. "Director, we have no problems, right? Everything is fine."
"Then your names aren't on the class committee, and your names aren't on the student union either? The principal is asking about this? What do I want to ask you about?"
"Ah, does the principal still have time to care about this matter?"
"The principal never cared about this matter originally, but this year's top scorers in arts and science are all in our school and are paying attention to this matter, so the principal started paying attention to it."
"That's a purely personal issue for us, and has nothing to do with the school. We're both married with children, so studying is already very demanding, and we can't spare the energy to do that. There's no other problem."
"I know you're having a hard time, but you can't just remain silent. Since the principal has asked, don't make it difficult for me. I can't just tell the principal that you don't have time."
Lu Wanwan, Tang Xiaoxiao and Gu Lang looked at each other and confirmed with their eyes that no one wanted to go. Finally, Lu Wanwan and Tang Xiaoxiao unanimously decided to let Gu Lang go to the Student Union.
"Director, we girls have too many things to do and don't have the energy. You can leave these things to Gu Lang. He will definitely be able to handle it."
Gu Lang was speechless when he saw the two people selling themselves out like this, but judging from the director's expression, he guessed that they had to push one person out today, otherwise they would not be able to leave.
Gu Lang agreed with a smile, "Director, I will go to the Student Union to take him there. We were not considerate enough and have put you in a difficult position."
Hearing Gu Lang's answer, several directors breathed a sigh of relief. They finally got it done. "What's the big deal? The student union is also quite challenging. Okay, you can go now."
Coming out of the director's office, Tang Xiaoxiao saw Gu Lang looking unhappy and hurried to comfort him, "Gu Lang, thank you for your hard work. You have shouldered the heavy burden for the two of us."
Gu Lang wasn't unhappy. What the leader said made sense. They couldn't all remain unknown. Instead of letting Xiaoxiao or his sister-in-law take over, why not him? It would be embarrassing to let a girl come forward.
"Xiaoxiao, I'm not unhappy. I'm just thinking that I'll have less and less time to spend with you guys in the future, and it will be harder for you to take care of the family."
Hearing Gu Lang say this, Lu Wanwan felt a little guilty. It was already very hard for the couple to go to school, take care of the children and do other work. His mother-in-law took care of the children, and Gu Feng made money. Yet she was so selfish as to let Gu Lang go to the student union.
Lu Wanwan thought that the matter had been decided and could not be changed, otherwise neither of them would be able to escape. She could help more with the household chores.
"Cousin, I'll trouble you with the student union affairs. Don't worry about the family matters. We are here for you."
"I can handle it, but Xiaoxiao might have to work harder. The student union has a lot of things to do, and it's not safe for a girl like you to walk around at night every day. It's best for me to go."
Lu Wanwan asked, "Do you have many classes tomorrow? We don't have any classes on Friday afternoon or Tuesday morning."
Tang Xiaoxiao continued, "We don't have classes on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, but we have classes the rest of the time, so we can even sleep in."
Gu Lang thought that it seemed like he had benefits on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. "We have fewer days off. We don't have classes on Monday and Wednesday mornings, and we don't have classes on Tuesday afternoons."
"Are you all separated? That's good. We basically have someone at home to take care of each other."
"Yeah, don't worry at home. Aunt Zhang introduced an aunt to take care of the children a few days ago. With Mama Gu here, we can take turns watching over the children at home, so there shouldn't be any problems."
"The character of the person Aunt Zhang introduced should be fine, but it's better to have someone watching over him. After all, taking care of children is different from other things."
"Now there are basically people at home in the morning, and my aunt is also here in the afternoon."
"Let's go, let's go see how Gu Feng's decoration is going, and you can give us some suggestions."
