Chapter 165 No one is alive, no body is dead
Yao Tao and Bai Lin were slaughtering in the mountains... no, it was hunting time, and many team members gathered at the entrance of the E area base.
It was almost dusk and the survivors were rushing back to the base.
No one wants to be outside after dark.
"Why is Team One Captain Wei Changli here? He's not on a mission today, is he? I remember Team Two Captain was in charge of hunting."
"It seems something happened."
"I heard the second team didn't come back."
"It's already this late. Even if the hunt wasn't successful, I should be back..."
The survivors were talking about it.
Wei Changli instructed his team members at the base gate, "We only have forty minutes to find the person. Whether you find him or not, you must return to the base before it is completely dark."
"Got it, Captain."
"Could the captain of Team Two be lost? I heard they're planning to go deer hunting in the mountains today."
"Mutated deer usually move in groups. Is he crazy enough to take a whole team to hunt deer?"
"It seems someone made a bet with him, saying that the mutant deer was too powerful for a single team to take down, and he insisted on taking the bet."
The captain of the guard was very polite.
The captain of the second team likes to make bets with this person and that person all day long. When it is his turn to go out hunting, he is actually asked to lead the team to look for it.
Wei Changli led his team members to search along the route up the mountain.
It gets dark very quickly in the jungle because the trees block the light, as if it were swallowed up by invisible beasts.
Wei Changli had no choice but to let the team move along the river bank, where the light was brighter.
Halfway through the journey, the team members found two children in the bushes.
The two children saw them and shouted for help.
Wei Changli knew what these two kids usually did, and he didn't want to be blamed by them.
"Please, take us back to the base." The two children cried loudly and told what they had experienced.
The more Wei Changli listened, the more confused he became.
How did a person become split in two?
People are not made of dough, so how can they crack by themselves?
However, the two children's stories sounded convincing, so Wei Changli asked them to lead the way to the crime scene.
The two children were terrified, but fortunately they knew the way.
When Wei Changli and others arrived at the river where Yao Tao and his companions had roasted the venison, they only saw a pile of slightly blackened stones.
He squatted down and touched it with his hand.
It's traces of charcoal.
The stones on the side were covered in blood, and there were two pools of blood farther away, but... there was no body.
Wei Changli ordered his men to search the nearby riverbanks, but they still couldn't find the body.
"Could it be that they were dragged away by mutant animals?" the team members muttered.
"If it was dragged away, there would be traces on the ground." Wei Changli shook his head.
"If it was captured by a mutant bird in the sky, there would be no trace."
Wei Changli still shook his head. "If that were the case, there would be blood dripping from the sky, but there aren't any other suspicious bloodstains nearby."
After searching for a while, the last ray of light in the sky was about to disappear, so Wei Changli had to lead the team back to the base.
I also took the two children back with me.
The next morning, Wei Changli led his team out again to look for members of the second team.
At the foot of the mountain, they finally found some clues.
A team member observed the traces on the ground and said, "These are the footprints of a mutant deer. They lured a mutant deer out alone and it looks like they plan to shoot it here."
Wei Changli frowned.
There were traces of blood everywhere in the grass, but no bodies were to be found.
Whether it is the mutant deer or the members of the second team, no one is seen alive or dead.
It's really a ghost!
