Chapter 200: Eat Meat When You Are Thin
Yao Tao picked out two pieces of edible meat from the deer, and while Wei Changli and Bai Lin were talking and attracting other people's attention, she cut out two deer ribs and put them into the space for purification, and then took them out.
She is no longer satisfied with just eating meat.
As the saying goes, when eating meat, eat the leanest part.
The lean part is the meat on the bones.
Bai Lin came back dragging half of a huge mutant tree, "Firewood, I found it."
Yao Tao pretended to be calm and took out a small axe under the cover of his backpack. "We won't need so many. Let's burn some into charcoal first."
It was Bai Lin's first time using an axe, and he couldn't chop it into small pieces after chopping for a long time.
"Let me do it." Yao Tao hurriedly took the small axe, chopped some small pieces of firewood, and collected some fallen leaves and dead branches as kindling.
There are a lot of mutated plants in the forest. In order to prevent themselves from being roasted in the wildfire caused by barbecue, the survivors are very careful about safety.
Yao Tao first cleared away the weeds around that could catch fire before starting to make a fire.
Bai Lin ate candy, sat leisurely on a rock with his hands in his pockets, and watched Yao Tao grilling meat.
Wei Changli and his team also made a fire, and everyone sat down to rest.
"Captain, I think this brother and sister are quite suspicious." A team member whispered.
Wei Changli snorted and didn't respond.
Nonsense, of course he knew it was suspicious.
Let’s not talk about the boy who was as thin as a skeleton. I don’t know how he managed to knock down such a big mutant tree.
The buck they killed was quite problematic.
He had observed the deer's wounds.
There was a big gash on his neck, which was not caused by a bow and arrow.
Moreover, the cut was smooth, which showed that it took considerable force and a particularly sharp knife to cause such an injury.
But he didn't see any sharp knives in their hands that could inflict such a wound.
How exactly did they do it?
Wei Changli stared at Yao Tao and Bai Lin.
The team members on their side put the pot they brought with them on the fire, boiled water and poured corn flakes into it.
A few people also took out the pickled bacon and roasted it on the fire. After it was hot, they cut it into small pieces with a knife and threw them into the pot to cook with the corn flakes.
Their food is better than that in official resettlement sites, and many survivors envy what they eat when they go out.
Wei Changli smelled the aroma of corn flakes while observing the reactions of Yao Tao and Bai Lin.
Bai Lin smelled the aroma of corn flakes and raised his nose to sniff.
"What's that smell?"
“Nachos.”
"I think I've heard of this name before."
"It's made with the same ingredients as a tortilla."
"I've never eaten corn flakes." Bai Lin said this like a willful child.
Wei Changli was waiting for Bai Lin to say this.
Whenever they quarreled over food, he would intervene again, take the opportunity to call the boy over, reward him with a bowl of corn porridge, and ask him for more information.
He always felt that the woman was very suspicious and she must be hiding something from him.
He filled a bowl of cornflake porridge, blew on it while it was hot, and drank it slowly.
But the brother and sister did not quarrel until he drank half a bowl of corn flakes porridge.
He saw Yao Tao take out a grill pan from his backpack, place it flat on the charcoal fire, and then put a piece of venison on it.
The meat sizzled on the metal surface of the grill pan, quickly oozing fat.
Yao Tao took out a bag of corn chips from her bag, took out the venison from the baking tray, poured the corn chips on it, and then added water.
The corn flakes quickly mix with water on the baking sheet to a semi-viscous consistency, and are slowly roasted into a solid consistency by the charcoal fire below.
Soon, the simple version of baked tortillas was ready.
Wei Changli frowned.
Yao Tao removed the baking tray from the fire and placed two pieces of deer ribs on the fire to roast. She then took out a grinding bottle and sprinkled the freshly ground seasoning on the ribs.
"Is it salt?" a team member asked Wei Changli.
A gust of wind blew over, and Wei Changli smelled the scent of black pepper.
His expression suddenly turned ugly.
He underestimated this woman.
