Chapter 534: Long Journey, Fruitful Autumn
Yao Tao and Bai Lin came to the beach.
Yao Tao released her modified speedboat from the space.
She picked it up from the Armed Forces dock the day before she left the Ark.
After the modification, the speedboat was covered with thicker defensive materials, equipped with a small torpedo at the front and a harpoon gun at the rear.
She and Bai Lin boarded the boat and drove the speedboat south.
Although Bai Lin's ability can take her teleporting, they have to go farther this time and she doesn't want to consume Bai Lin's energy.
Ordinary people driving speedboats on the sea will definitely be attacked by mutant fish.
But there was a big boss at the top of the food chain on the boat. The mutant fish felt the invisible pressure from the speedboat and all hid far away.
The speedboat ride was smooth.
The two sailed on the sea for three hours and arrived at a nearby county town.
After the apocalypse, everyone in the county ran into the city. Because the Ark stopped there, there were hardly any survivors left in the surrounding counties.
There are few daily necessities in county towns and rural areas, and there are no large supermarkets or shopping malls.
But there are many mutant plants here.
Especially in the countryside, some crops planted in the fields mutated after the apocalypse and were inedible to the survivors, so they grew wildly in the fields.
After a year, these mutated crops grew together with weeds and were difficult to distinguish.
Yao Tao compared some of the pictures in the book and finally managed to distinguish some of them.
The mutant corn in the field is ripe.
The originally green skin turned white, and the heavy corn grew thicker than a human arm.
Yao Tao used a knife to cut down the corn stalks and then picked the corn on top.
Tear off the layers of leaves wrapping the corn to reveal the plump corn kernels inside.
Yao Tao excitedly waved at Bai Lin, "Come and help us, we'll make corn porridge tonight."
With Bai Lin there, all the corn fields were laid out.
Yao Tao changed into long clothes and long pants, put on a straw hat on her head, and squatted on the ground to pick corn.
Even though she had a strong physique, she couldn't withstand the hard work of farm work.
After a whole day of talking, she was almost exhausted to death.
She lay on her back on the cornpile, looking at the blue sky.
White clouds slowly passed overhead, and birds flew by from time to time.
The autumn sun makes people feel warm, and the wind makes the leaves of plants rustle.
Yao Tao closed her eyes happily.
She fell asleep without mercy.
When she opened her eyes, she found that the sun had moved to the west.
I looked at the time, it was four o'clock in the afternoon.
She actually slept for so long!
She sat up and found that Bai Lin had lit a bonfire not far from her. He had his back to her and was busy doing something by the bonfire.
From time to time she could hear the screams of some animals.
She stood up and walked over, and was surprised to see Bai Lin catching a mutant pig.
He was trying to tie a live pig to a stick and put it over the fire.
The mutant pig was filled with fear and tried to break free, but Bai Lin was stronger than it, so it could only howl.
"What are you doing?" Yao Tao asked.
"Roast suckling pig." The pig screamed so miserably that Bai Lin punched it on the head.
The pig was immediately beaten silent and temporarily fainted.
"That's it." Bai Lin finally managed to tie the pig to a wooden stick and put it on the fire.
The pig was not dead in the first place, but was woken up by the pain from the fire.
Howling and struggling desperately on the shelf.
The stick couldn't bear its weight and broke into two pieces.
The pig fell into the fire.
It was so hot that it jumped high and rushed out with flames on its body.
Yao Tao quickly took out a bow and arrow from the space, aimed at the pig's butt and shot an arrow.
The pig fell down with a cry.
Bai Lin stepped over and stepped on it, then twisted its ears and dragged it back.
"This is an adult pig. We can't make a roast suckling pig," Yao Tao explained helplessly. "Besides, when roasting food, it must be killed first and cleaned before roasting."
"What a trouble." Bai Lin frowned.
"Where did you catch this pig?" Yao Tao noticed that this was not a wild boar, but a domestic pig that was raised in captivity before the apocalypse.
Bai Lin raised his hand and pointed to the ruins behind him, "There are a lot of them there."
Yao Tao climbed up the ruins, looked down, and almost laughed out loud with joy.
After the apocalypse, all the livestock in the village mutated, but they did not go far away and continued to move around near the village.
There are traces of domestic pigs, chickens and rabbits in the woods ahead.
And that forest was an orchard.
