Chapter 17 I Won’t Go In (1/2)

"Charlie, I need you to give me a reasonable explanation."

Ford's tone was heavy.

Although he and Charlie had fought side by side before, this matter concerned the reputation of the Grey family.

As the head of the Grey family, Ford had to be serious.

Listening to Ford's words, Charlie, with a lifeless look in his eyes, gradually came to his senses.

Charlie took a few deep breaths, nodded at Ford and said nothing.

Now that no information has been found, any random explanation will only make things more confusing.

Then he searched the carriage for details and clues about Adele's disappearance.

As soon as I started looking, I found an envelope in the cabinet under the small table next to me.

Charlie quickly took out the letter inside.

Check it out immediately.

"Father, I am leaving, leaving with Harlin. Harlin is my true home. He is kind, brave, and upright."

"Compared to that notorious Ryan, Harlem is like an angel. Even though Ryan won the duel with Damon, it still can't change my feelings about him."

"I know that doing this will bring down the family, but please allow my daughter to be willful for once and freely find her own love."

"Love you Adele."

After reading his daughter's letter, Charlie seemed to have lost all his strength and slumped down in the carriage, muttering, "Adele...you...you are so confused."

Looking at Charlie walking out of the carriage in a daze, Ford stepped forward and asked.

"Charlie, what did you find?"

Charlie handed the letter in his hand to Ford: "Master Ford, please take a look."

Seeing Ford start to read the contents of the letter, Charlie stood aside and began to explain the whole story to Ford.

"I don't know when Harlem started contacting Adele, but it should have been a few months. I also investigated him."

"That Harlin is a mercenary. He's quite famous, but his character is questionable. He's two-faced. I've already told Adele that Harlin isn't a scoundrel, but she just doesn't believe it."

"Ever since Master Jonas came to me a few days ago to talk about the engagement, I've confined Adele to her home and prevented her from contacting that Harlem."

"But I didn't expect that Adele, who has always been well-behaved, would..."

After listening to Charlie's explanation, Ford handed the letter to Leila. Leila frowned after reading the letter.

I didn't expect that Adele, who has always been well-behaved and obedient, would do such a thing.

"Charlie, I have high hopes for you... It seems that the dull life in the capital these past few years has made you lose the vigilance you once had in the Knights."

Charlie lowered his head as he listened to Ford's words.

Indeed, it was his mistake to let Adele, a first-level warrior, slip away right under his nose.

Leila said as she looked at Ford and Charlie.

"The most urgent thing now is to find Adele as soon as possible. If Adele is still a virgin, the engagement can still go ahead. If she is no longer..."

Ryan was immediately displeased after hearing this: "Continue? Mother, you know the nature of mercenaries. They are not picky about women."

"Even if Adele is a virgin, wouldn't she still be a virgin if she was seen naked and touched thoroughly? Wouldn't I be the one being taken advantage of?"

"And everyone else has said... I won't get involved in anything. That kind of thing doesn't happen to me."

Ryan's words did not give Charlie any face at all and were very explicit. Even Ford and Leila were thoughtful after hearing them.

Charlie waved his hands quickly.

"No, Master Ryan, Adele has several magical devices on her body, and that Harlin is only a first-level warrior. He can't touch Adele at all."

"What if Adele takes off the magic device herself?"

Ryan's next words immediately left Charlie at a loss as to how to refute.

Several people stood there in silence.
