Chapter 503 The Great Misunderstanding: Ivan (2/2)

As soon as Art heard the news of Rein's return, he rushed to Albert's place, wanting to see how much 'fortune' Otto had acquired in the Misty Lands.

This thing is related to how many years the empire can enjoy good weather and abundant harvests.

Albert shrugged helplessly: "I don't know either."

"There's been no news from Jerome's side..."

Art was taken aback, and just like Albert had been, he fell into deep thought.

Albert said, "I was planning to call Ryan over to ask him in person, but you know about Fred's situation, Father."

"That kid is probably in a bad mood right now."

Art nodded deeply, agreeing: "Yeah, that kid and Fred are close. If he knew Fred had been in a coma for half a year, he would definitely be..."

Art sighed, "Alas, the royal city is likely to be in turmoil for some time to come."

At this point, Art glared at Albert and said.

“I told you a long time ago to punish those families that were secretly plotting against the Gray family, but you never did anything. Now look what’s happened, Renn is back. When that kid gets angry, I’m afraid none of those families will be left alive.”

Albert said helplessly, "Father, as long as it's not done openly, these things are all unspoken rules among nobles, and I can't take action against them."

"After all, they haven't violated any imperial laws on the surface, so I can't just arbitrarily accuse them of a crime, can I?"

“Besides…” Albert’s face turned slightly cold.

“Some families are too greedy. It would be good to take this opportunity to get rid of them through that kid Renn.”

Art sighed. "Ivan just walked out of here looking really worried. What did you send him to do?"

Albert laughed and said, "Let him go and offer his condolences to the Gray family, and also check on the situation in Renn."

"If I'm still angry, I'll call Ryan over again in a while."

“If you’ve calmed down, have Renn come over so we can ask him about the Misty Lands.”

Ada nodded, her eyes gleaming as she looked out of the palace: "Sigh, I hope Fred will wake up soon."

"Things have been quite turbulent on the mainland lately."

...

Ivan did not go to the Grey family immediately, but waited until the next day to bring the treasure.

The next morning, Ivan's carriage slowly arrived at the Grey family manor.

Inside the carriage, Ivan looked bewildered, like a condemned prisoner about to be executed.

"Stop. This is the Gray family. Please show your identification token."

The two guards holding long spears who were standing at the entrance of the manor stopped Ivan's carriage and spoke meticulously.

Ivan opened the carriage window, revealing his face, and ordered the coachman to hand his token to the two guards.

“I have been ordered by His Majesty to bring some treasures to visit Duke Fred,” Ivan said.

"Good morning, Duke Ivan. I'll go and inform him right away." After checking that everything was in order, the guard returned the memorial tablet.

Upon hearing this, Ivan immediately threw out two bags of gold coins and laughed.

"No rush, I want to ask you something."

The two guards stared at the money pouch in their hands, then looked at each other in bewilderment.

"Please ask," the two men said, not putting away the bribe, but asking a question first.

Ivan smiled and asked, "Young Master Rein... how have you been lately?"

Upon hearing this, one of the guards said, "Young Master is in a very good mood."

Ivan's eyes lit up with joy, and he breathed a sigh of relief. He nodded and said, "Okay, go and inform them. I'll wait here."

Upon seeing this, the two guards put away their money bags.

This can be considered a small perk of their work.

They charge money based on what the other person asks. If it's just some trivial question, they can charge money to answer.

But if it's something important or something they don't know about, they wouldn't dare accept it.
