Chapter 578 Misfortunes never come singly. Hundreds of kilometers away, a white light flashed, and a figure appeared out of thin air, falling straight down into the sand.
Renn, clutching his throbbing head, fell onto a sand dune and then rolled into a ravine below.
“Peronex!” Renn said through gritted teeth, clutching his head.
The goddess of life heard Renn's call and turned her gaze upon him.
She stared in surprise as she watched Renn's body being constantly eroded by the chaotic energy, then quickly used her divine power to help Renn clear the chaotic energy from his body.
Although Raine managed to escape from Caspian by force thanks to his understanding of space.
However, his strength was far inferior to that of Caspian. The chaotic energy surrounding Renn by Caspian still managed to break through Renn's spatial defenses and invade his body.
Ten minutes later, the Goddess of Life cleared the chaotic energy from Renn's body and asked with a black line on her face:
"You encountered that eighth-tier being?"
With his headache greatly relieved, Renn got up from the sand, drank a bottle of cold potion, and nodded.
"Yes, I just escaped from him."
As he spoke, Raine used wind magic to surround himself, clearing away the sand clinging to his body from rolling down the dunes.
“Fortunately, we had reserved spatial coordinates in this place beforehand, and we also learned from Renli that Caspian’s understanding of space was not deep, which is why we were able to escape from him,” Renn said.
Then, Raine put on the Unknown Mask and flew towards the nearest city.
The Goddess of Life curled her lip and said, "You were lucky this time. Next time, that eighth-level being will definitely have some countermeasures. Don't think he can't do anything to you just because you escaped from him once."
"I don't want to collect your corpse."
Renn nodded: "Don't worry, I'm not that stupid. This was just an unexpected situation."
"If we don't rescue these elves, it will be difficult for Kaspian to advance to the intermediate level of the eighth rank."
The Goddess of Life grunted in response and then fell silent, continuing her study of the Eternal Ice.
...
Three hours later.
The battle between the Mad Order and the desert centipede swarm was drawing to a close. With the last desert centipede being crushed by Kaspian's palm, the Mad Order wiped out all the desert centipedes in the swarm.
Everyone stood silently in place, showing no joy whatsoever at having survived a plague of insects.
The entire congregation dared not even breathe loudly, fearing that the enraged divine messenger would use the excuse of disturbing him to kill people again.
Kaspian stood on the sand where the elves had just been, his face cold as if it could freeze over with frost.
Even the scorching desert sun couldn't bring any warmth to the members of the Mad Order.
Everyone could understand how furious Caspian was.
Their original purpose was to seize the elf, but now that the elf has been intercepted, everything the divine messenger did before has been in vain!
Kaspian remained silent for a long time before finally speaking:
"Clean up the battlefield, we'll depart in half an hour."
After receiving Kaspian's order, the members of the Mad Cult finally sprang into action, heading towards the pile of desert centipede corpses stacked high to the side.
The shells of these desert centipedes are very tough and are a relatively rare material; now that they are readily available, it's only natural to take advantage of them.
Although most of the desert centipede's carapace was shattered by the Kaspian, a small number of desert centipedes were still able to pry off their carapaces.
Just as the Mad Order and the others were resting, Kaspian frowned and took out a magic scroll from his magic device.
Looking at the magic scroll floating and flashing in front of him, a bad feeling arose in Kaspian's heart.
Kaspian unfurled the magic scroll, and it immediately emitted a sound.
"My Lord! Something terrible has happened! The Magic Association has launched a surprise attack on Chaos City! We can't hold out for much longer, please return to provide support immediately!"
As Kaspian listened to the information coming from the magic scroll, his lips twitched, and his left hand unconsciously clenched into a fist.
He slammed his fist into the sand beside him, creating a deep crater.
"Damn it!" Kaspian hissed.
He then summoned several elders and gave them instructions:
"Chaos City has been attacked by those old fogies from the Magic Association. I need to return immediately."
"After you've rested, return at full speed as well. I'll go first."
Kaspian left the desert, a place littered with centipede carcasses, without giving much explanation.
The elders looked at each other as Kaspian walked away, then followed his instructions to rest until the followers' fighting spirit had recovered before continuing their journey.
...
The Duchy of Belai.
A small country located on the edge of a desert in the southwest.
Although this place is still in the desert, the sandy ground is no longer entirely sand; it now contains some soil.
Occasionally, one can see a few drought-resistant grasses and unhealthy saplings on the barren sandy land.
The Duchy of Belai was very fortunate, as it was not destroyed by the Mad Cult due to its geographical location. Although the atmosphere in the city was somewhat tense, it was not too extreme.
Wearing the Unknown Mask, Raine flew directly into the Duchy of Belai and found a nice hotel to rest for a while.
The hotel room was very simple, with a worn-out wooden bed, a pair of creaky wooden tables and chairs, and a wardrobe, nothing else.
There was a faint musty smell in the room, obviously from not opening the windows for ventilation for a long time.
Ignoring the dilapidated state of the room, Raine locked it and slipped into the secret realm.
Within the secret realm.
The elf rescued by Renn was placed by Renn under a stone wall in the forest.
Because the rescue was done in such a hurry and the elves were discovered later, they still have those special shackles on their hands and ankles.
Although they were still locked up, the elves showed no signs of dejection. Instead, they sat on the grass, chatting and laughing.
Just then, Raine appeared out of thin air in front of the elves.
Upon seeing Renn appear, Samuel quickly rose and approached him, solemnly performing the elven salute.
"Lord Renn, thank you for your help. The Golden Forest is deeply grateful."
