Chapter 111 Heavy Rain

During the long run around the tribe, Li Qing saw hunting teams returning to the tribe one after another, knowing that it was almost time to eat. This gave him even more energy to keep running. Long-distance running is a sport that tests endurance and mentality. At the beginning, you often don't feel very tired, but when your body reaches its limit, you will feel very tired, and you may even feel that you can't run another step. You just want to stop and rest. This is a process that all long-distance runners must go through. Once you get through this process, your body will suddenly "heal" and you will feel that the distance you ran before was nothing. Your body will feel light and full of power, and you may even feel that you can keep running. This is what is called the three stages that long-distance running must go through.

Li Qing is currently in the second stage, especially since he is not yet able to completely calm down. He knows that people in ancient times were very superstitious. If a bad outcome is predicted and the emperor decides not to fight, then all their efforts during the day will be in vain.

Li Qing let out a long sigh of relief and told himself not to overthink things. The worst thing you can do while running is to not relax. If you train with worries on your mind, it can even have the opposite effect on your body after the workout.

"Only a few laps left, hurry up and finish!"

Li Qing thought to himself.

During the long run, Li Qing suddenly noticed that the clouds overhead were completely black, blocking out the sun, and a cold wind was blowing in the air.

"This is a sign that it's going to rain."

Just as Li Qing was thinking this, the tribe suddenly became gloomy, as if time had been pushed back a long time.

"It's so annoying that it's raining at this time of year."

Soon, Li Qing finished the number of laps Chu had set for him. At this point, he had entered the third stage that long-distance runners must go through. But when he stopped, he felt like his whole body was about to explode. He was panting heavily like an old bellows. His legs and even his hands felt like they didn't belong to him anymore. He stumbled to the center of the tribe and sat down in a corner. There, Yun, who had finished running long ago, was also resting. She seemed tired too. And because she hadn't rested after weightlifting and had run directly, her condition was slightly worse than Li Qing's. She closed her eyes slightly, and a series of slightly muffled breaths came from her nostrils, as if she had fallen asleep from exhaustion.

Li Qing sat down next to Yun and muttered to herself, "You're working too hard."

Li Qing turned her head to look at Yun and, seeing that she didn't react, breathed a sigh of relief.

Phew, thank goodness, she didn't hear it.

Unbeknownst to Li Qing, when he turned his head again to look around the tribe, a subtle, beautiful smile appeared on Yun's lips.

Watching the women of the tribe bleeding the wild animals, Li Qing gradually relaxed. The weather was bad today, and the training should be over by now. He could soon have some roasted meat to warm himself up, which sounded wonderful.

"I'm so hungry! I can't wait to eat while they're preparing the food. When can we eat?"

"It should be soon. Let's wait a little longer. In any case, Chu shouldn't be assigning us any more tasks."

"That's good... Ouch!"

Just then, a thunderous roar exploded in the air!

The loud noise startled everyone who was resting, and some were even so excited that they stood up.

Looking up, they saw a golden dragon streak across the sky. Even though the dragon only appeared in the air for a moment, everyone was still shocked. They had never seen such a swift lightning bolt before.

The rain poured down and soon began to fall.

Just moments ago it was only cloudy, but after this torrential downpour, the sky turned directly into night. The sun had vanished, replaced by what seemed to be a black cloth covering everything, an endless expanse of darkness. Large raindrops pattered on the ground, and the quiet forest seemed to echo with the roars of wild beasts. However, Li Qing, who was in the tribe, couldn't tell if it was the sound of raindrops falling on stones or the roars of the wild animals that hadn't yet left.

The tribe, which had been bustling just moments before, was now even more "lively." The women picked up what they were carrying, the warriors tidied themselves up and took on the responsibility of carrying some of the heavy food brought back by the hunting teams, while the trainees woke up their sleeping companions and headed into the caves—a privilege they enjoyed when the weather was bad.

"Quick, I'll carry this deer, and you carry this wild boar back!"

"You only know how to carry the easiest loads, don't you? I can't carry a wild boar by myself, I need to call someone for help!"

"No, I'm busy, I don't have time. Ask him to help you. Hey, I'm talking to you, hurry up! This wild boar isn't dry yet, it won't taste good if it gets wet from the rain. Hurry up!"

Li Qing patted Yun on the shoulder: "Hey, Yun, wake up! It's raining. Hurry back to the cave, or you'll catch a cold!"

Reminded by Li Qing, Yun then put her hands on the ground and got up.

Most of the people in the tribe have already returned to their village, and they are all alone now. Yun apologized to Li Qing, feeling embarrassed, and quickly ran towards the cave entrance.

After running a few steps, Yun realized that Li Qing hadn't followed her home. Standing in the rain, she anxiously turned back and said, "Maizi, hurry up, the rain is getting heavier!"

"...Wait a little longer, some people haven't come back yet."

"What?"

The rain was too heavy, and the two were less than three meters apart, but Yun did not hear what Li Qing had just said.

"nothing."

Rainwater soaked Li Qing's hair. His hair wasn't styled properly, so when it got wet, it hung down and obscured his eyes. He turned around and forced a smile at Yun: "You go back first, don't worry about me."
