Chapter 17 White Feather Tribe

Li's face turned pale with shock. He exclaimed, "Whale Kun! It's actually a whale Kun! This is impossible! Why would a whale Kun be in a place like this? Their usual habitat is much larger than this place. Why would it make this its home?"

What is a whale-kun?

"I've never seen the world," asked a naive young man.

Li gritted his teeth and explained in a low voice, "It's an exceptionally ferocious fish that eats everything—fish, humans, dinosaurs... Whenever it's hungry, it will eat the prey that's closest to it. What's even more terrifying is that if they're hungry and there's no prey around, they'll even kill each other."

"Eating one's own kind?"

"This, this..."

Chu smiled wryly, "It's hard to understand, isn't it? But that's what they are, these kinds of fish. I've heard that some adult whales will even eat their newborn babies because they're hungry."

"There are actually such creatures!"

Chu forced a smile across his grim face, gazing at the now calm lake surface, and said, "There are even more terrifying creatures than you could have imagined."

“It seems we were too happy too soon. Jie Wu said this place is extremely dangerous, and we even thought he was making a mountain out of a molehill,” Chu said, crossing his arms and asking Li, “Li, what do we do now?”

After a moment's thought, Li replied, "We can't defeat the whales. The water is their domain, so we have no choice but to... take a detour."

Heading downstream, through shallower areas, was the only solution Li could think of. However, the river was too vast, stretching as far as the eye could see. Li Qing thought for a moment and then suggested to Li, "We can use..."

"Who goes there!?"

"This is our Baiyu tribe's territory. Where did you guys come from?"

"Damn it, do you want to cross the river? That's our hunting ground!"

Li Qing was only halfway through his sentence when he caught the hunting team's attention. To the left of the hunting team, another group of primitive people rushed over, cursing and swearing. They were generally stronger than the people of the Red Flower Tribe, and each of them wore a crown decorated with several white feathers. They also had tattoos of various ferocious beasts on their bodies.

After the group rushed out of the jungle and hurled insults at the Red Flower Tribe members, one of them, a burly man who seemed to be the leader and was about 2.5 meters tall, charged toward the hunting party and grinned at Li: "What wind blew your Red Flower Tribe here?"

Li asked coldly, "What do you mean?"

The man seemed a little puzzled by Li's attitude. He shrugged and said to Chu, "Why aren't you going to Moonstone? What are you doing here at Liangmeng River trying to steal our prey?"

Chu took the stone axe tied to his waist and said without any politeness, "None of your business! Black Foot, don't think we don't know that there is a rich hunting ground around the White Feather Tribe. You have such good territory, and you are still not satisfied. You even come to steal food from our Red Flower Tribe?"

The primitive man named Blackfoot chuckled and waved for the people behind him to follow. He looked Chu up and down with a suspicious gaze, then casually asked, "Why are there only the two of you? Yong, where are his brothers?"

The death of Yong and his group was a very sensitive topic in the Red Flower Tribe. They themselves had deliberately avoided talking about it after the funeral. Now that someone from another tribe had asked them about it, Chu's temper flared up, and he kicked Black Foot in the chest.

The force of the kick was enormous, but Black Foot had anticipated it. He was kicked far away by Chu, but he still managed to remain standing.

A sinister glint appeared in Black Foot's eyes. He covered the spot where Chu had kicked him with his right hand, clenched his left fist, and said in a sinister tone, "It seems I've brought up some painful topics?"

Chu's sudden kick caused the two tribes to instantly become tense and ready to draw their swords. Li instinctively stood in front of the hunting team, while the White Feather tribe sent a group of people forward to stand at the same distance as Black Foot, weapons already in their hands, waiting for Black Foot's order to kill all the members of the hunting team.

The people sent by the White Feather Tribe were more than half the size of the Red Flower Tribe's hunting team. They were skilled and warlike and were not afraid of conflict with the Red Flower Tribe. On the contrary, they were very much looking forward to a big battle with the Red Flower Tribe. The two tribes were quite familiar with each other, with similar strengths and frequent contact. They knew many people in the Red Flower Tribe. That's why they acted so unreasonably after seeing that the Red Flower Tribe's hunting team was just a bunch of "defeated soldiers".

Li knew this too. He wasn't angry because of Chu's impulsiveness. He just waited with his body tense for Black Foot to speak.

"This is getting interesting. Damn, the White Feather Tribe suddenly appeared out of nowhere."

Li Qing stared at Black Foot; knowing this guy's personality, a fierce battle was likely to follow.

Sure enough, Black Foot turned around and said to the other group of people who were still standing there, "You guys go across the river first. The rest of us will catch up with the Red Flower Tribe and then come find you."

The group behind him listened to Blackfoot very well. After Blackfoot gave the order, they all responded and then, trusting Blackfoot and the remaining brothers, turned around and walked towards Liang Menghe.

"Since you're courting death, don't blame us."

Chu looked at the group of people crossing the river and laughed mockingly.

"You still have that annoying personality, Chu. No, I should say there are just too many people like you in your entire Red Flower Tribe. Take Yong, that idiot, for example. He died because..."

Clang!

Before he could finish speaking, Chu rushed up to Black Foot and raised his stone axe to chop at him!

Black Foot reacted quickly, raising his stone axe to block Chu's attack.

Chu's eyes turned red, and he used all his strength to press the stone axe down forcefully.

Black Foot's temper flared up as well. He stopped talking and used all his strength to fight against Chu.

This is an era where one-on-one fights are the norm, and group brawls are the last thing Qin would do. Since Chu took the initiative to fight Black Foot, until a winner was decided—that is, until one side died or one side felt they couldn't win and quickly called their brothers for help—in most cases, the others around him wouldn't intervene.

In their view, this is a matter of great importance concerning dignity!

Both sides simply shouted at the same time, cheering on the warriors of their respective tribes.

"Kill him, Blackfoot!"

"Chu is a complete idiot, he's no match for you!"

"Come on, Chu! Black Foot is definitely not as strong as you, so don't lose!"

"Kill him! He dared to insult Yong just now! We can never forgive them!"

Cheers rose and fell, and they didn't care what shouting meant; they were just cheering wildly for the warriors of their tribe.

In Mai Zi's memory, Chu and Hei Jiao were roughly equal in strength, with Hei Jiao being slightly taller than Chu and Chu being slightly stronger than Hei Jiao.

This was a closely contested battle.

That was the case, at least until the White Feather Tribe hunting party, which had just waded across the water to the other side, let out a scream.
