Li Qing took the lead and was the first to crawl into the low-lying ferns.
Upon entering the dimly lit plant area, Li Qing discovered that the space inside was much larger and more spacious than he had imagined, enough for many people to rest. If one were to squeeze in, the entire Red Flower Tribe could fit inside and treat it as a small tribal territory.
These ferns also serve as excellent rain shelters. The ground here is much drier than the ground outside, so walking on it is less uncomfortable.
As soon as Li Qing entered, he saw rows of very messy footprints. Obviously, these footprints were not left intentionally, but were naturally made by people living here.
What made Li Qing's heart race even faster was that he heard two people talking from deep inside.
Even though the sound was faint, it reassured Li Qing and the others who came in later.
“Wheat, it seems that the Jiewu and the others…”
"Um."
Li Qing nodded firmly and said, "They must be inside!"
Looking back at his companions who had followed him, Li Qing waved and said, "Let's go."
The terrain here is very spacious, not at all like Li Qing imagined, where they had to crouch down to walk; they could walk standing up.
"It's so dark here."
“Of course,” Li Qing turned around and glared at the complaining young man. “Do you see what’s above us? It must be pitch black in this environment.”
After saying that, Li Qing mentally scoffed again, thinking that after experiencing this natural disaster, such a dark environment probably made people feel safer.
Stop complaining and keep moving forward.
Li Qingdao.
As soon as he finished speaking, just as Li Qing was about to lead the group deeper into the area, he suddenly saw someone running out in a hurry.
Upon seeing this person, Li Qing was first taken aback, then exclaimed with delight, "Cang, it's you! You really were here!"
Cang seemed to be in a hurry and didn't notice Li Qing and the others at all, continuing to run outside without looking back.
"Cang, it's me, it's Mai Zi!"
Li Qing grabbed Cang Dao.
Only then, as the distance closed, did he realize that Cang's condition was not good.
She looked like she hadn't rested in a long time; her face was exhausted, and her eyes were moist, as if she had just been crying.
"Wheat...wheat?"
Cang mechanically turned his head and asked in a daze, "Maizi, is that you?"
At this moment, Cang looks very unfamiliar. He is no longer the Cang who is always calm and composed, as if he can solve any problem.
Instead, he resembled an old man suffering from dementia, trembling as he reached out a hand to touch Li Qing's face, and suddenly shouted excitedly, "No mistake, it's wheat, it really is wheat!"
Li had never seen Cang in this state before, and asked in a hoarse voice, "How did Cang become like this?"
Li Qing said softly, "Maybe Cang is just too tired."
"Most of the warriors and chiefs in the tribe have gone out, leaving Cang and Jiewu to take care of the entire tribe. The pressure they face is beyond our imagination."
Li Qing gently hugged Cang and gave him a kiss.
"Cang, don't be afraid, we're here. Your family in the tribe will be alright."
Cang's body leaned back as if he had been electrocuted.
"No, I need to go out and find suitable herbs quickly, or someone will die!"
Suddenly, Cang unleashed a tremendous force from nowhere, breaking free from Li Qing. He clutched his head and squatted on the ground in pain.
Cang and Jiewu are the tribe's doctors, and their duty is to treat the injured people in the tribe. It's easy to imagine how much pressure Cang and Jiewu are under right now—the injuries or abnormal reactions caused by harmful elements are things that Cang and Jiewu have never encountered before. They must have tried many methods to treat them, but none of them have been effective. This makes them feel a deep sense of self-blame, believing that they are useless. Therefore, it is very normal for Cang's change to be so sudden. Li Qing felt even more sorry for Cang, and he had to repeat, "Cang."
“I’ve said it before, as long as I’m here, no one in the tribe will die from this natural disaster.”
Cang knelt on the ground like a child, looking up at Li Qing and asking, "Really?"
“Really.” Li Qing nodded seriously. “I swear.”
Cang suddenly laughed, grinning and revealing a mouthful of white teeth.
"That's good."
Cang didn't even ask Li Qing where he got the confidence to say that, as if he just needed someone to relieve the pressure on him.
Li Qing forced a smile: "Take me to see my family in the tribe first, and then we'll leave this place immediately."
...
The Jiewu and the rest of the Red Flower tribe were placed at the very back of this pile of ferns. When Cang and Li Qing arrived, most of the people here were resting. Only the busy Jiewu and a few people who had no desire to sleep were awake. To Li Qing's relief, he learned from Cang along the way that none of these people had died yet, and the most serious ones were only unconscious.
As long as they are alive, Li Qing is confident that they can recover their health.
However, we need to hurry.
The urgent situation overshadowed the joy of reunion. After exchanging only a few pleasantries with Jiewu and the others, Li Qing walked out with them.
