Li Qing covered his nose and walked towards the oviraptor. "It stinks!"
Li Mo followed silently behind Li Qing, laughing gleefully, "There's nothing we can do, Oviraptors are just that timid."
“It’s completely dead,” Li Qing said, hands on his hips, frowning as he looked at the gruesome state of the dead Oviraptor. “But we can’t eat it now.”
"How about we let Big Black carry it for now, and after we get down there, the women in the tribe can give it a good cleaning?"
Before Li Qing could answer, Da Hei let out a pitiful cry to Li.
It would be disgusting to have to carry this oviraptor covered in feces and urine on its back.
Li Qing laughed: "Haha, if it doesn't work out, then forget it. At worst, after we find the chief and the others, we can find some wild animals around here to take back and eat. Anyway, this place hasn't been affected by the natural disaster, so all those wild animals should have run to this area. At this time of year, they should be everywhere."
Remembering the times when the tribe went hungry, Li shook his head with regret. He didn't want to waste food, but as Li Qing said, this oviraptor was covered in excrement and there was no way to take it back to eat. He had no choice but to agree, "Okay, let's find the chief and the others first."
Li Qing hummed in agreement, looked towards the cave, and asked worriedly, "Why are the chief and the others staying so far in? Why haven't they left even though there are Oviraptors living here?"
Li Jingjing said, "With so many of us, it won't matter even if there's any danger nearby."
Li Qing nodded, raised the torch again, and shone it on the oviraptor one last time.
"The smell here is too strong. I wonder if it will attract some natural hunters."
Li Qing's concerns were not unfounded. Wild beasts are extremely sensitive to the smell of blood, and this place reeks of both blood and foul odor. Even the most oblivious hunter would likely notice the stench emanating from the Oviraptor when passing by. If they had already left by then, all would be well. But if the timing was perfect and they hadn't yet escaped, then…
After a moment of contemplation, Li nodded and said, "There's no other way. All we can do now is go inside."
Who would have thought this oviraptor was so timid? If it had been bitten to death by Big Black, they would have taken some measures to ensure that the smell of blood wouldn't spread too far. But now that the oviraptor was in this state, on the one hand, they were reluctant to deal with its excrement, and on the other hand, dealing with it would be too time-consuming. No one could say for sure whether something else would happen while they were dealing with it.
Nodding with a wry smile, Li Qing said helplessly, "Let's go then, we need to speed things up a bit."
During the journey that followed, everyone was afraid that if they walked slowly, they would be discovered by the hunters around them. Unconsciously, they all sped up. However, the cave was much longer than Li Qing had imagined. Was it formed naturally, or...?
There were many forks in the road along the way, but fortunately, they had Big Black with them, so they didn't have to rely on luck anymore. They followed Big Black's directions and soon arrived at a low-lying area.
The road here is full of potholes and is much darker, with water dripping from the stones above it.
"These stones are actually dripping water!"
Atuna, being rather ignorant, exclaimed in amazement.
"Is it raining outside?" Atuna asked curiously. "That shouldn't be the case. How could rainwater seep into this place?"
Li Qing explained with a smile, "These are called stalactites. This kind of formation usually occurs in caves in carbonate rock areas and takes a long time to develop. If the lighting here were better, you would find that these stones are actually very beautiful."
Li stepped forward and asked curiously, "What is carbonate rock?"
"Well..."
Just as Li Qing was pondering how to explain the concept of carbonates to the people of this era, he suddenly heard one of the Red Flower Tribe members who had gone ahead to scout the way exclaim in surprise, "There seems to be a light ahead! Is it the chief and the others?"
"What! Really?"
Li was startled.
"Go and take a look!"
He hadn't seen the chief for a long time. Everyone, including Li Qing, wanted to see the chief. Now that they had searched for so long and finally learned that the chief was right in front of them, how could he not be excited? He could no longer maintain his previous calm demeanor and led the way to rush over.
Running closely behind Li, as they ventured deeper into the area, Li Qing indeed saw firelight ahead, as well as several figures and could faintly hear voices, causing his heart to race.
"Chief, it's me, it's Li. Are you inside?"
Li shouted like a little child.
The conversations inside stopped abruptly upon hearing Li's voice. After a long while, a voice finally came from inside.
"It's me, it's Dian. Li, is that you?"
Then, a figure stood up in the firelight.
The figure was very blurry, but combined with the voice from before, Li Qing was absolutely certain that the voice was from Dian!
They were indeed inside!
"It's me!"
Li could no longer contain his excitement and ran quickly toward the firelight.
