Chapter Three: He was enduring it all; he was so pitiful.

I was really annoyed when I turned left!

His young master had never suffered such humiliation in front of the Sixth Miss!

In a fit of anger, she said, "My young master has given the Sixth Miss many things, not just these one or two today. If it is as the Sixth Miss wishes, then..."

Jiang Segu, who had already turned to go inside, laughed instead of getting angry when he heard this. "Thank you for reminding me. I will definitely return everything before dinner. I also ask that Young Master Liang return all the gifts I gave you in the past."

Having said that, he was too lazy to argue with them any further and stepped into the house, thus failing to see that the faces of Liang Shaojie and his servant were both stiff and pale.

As soon as Jiang Segu entered the room, the maid following behind her stepped forward and asked, "Miss, don't you like Young Master Liang the most? Every time Young Master Liang comes, you are overjoyed."

Young Master Liang came to visit you today out of kindness, Miss. Why are you treating Young Master Liang like this?

The fact that he was able to find crabapple blossoms during this solar term shows that Young Master Liang has put a lot of thought into the young lady!

"It's one thing if the young lady is unhappy, but how could she say such hurtful things? I'm afraid she'll regret it later, and Young Master Liang might never see her again!"

Jiang Segu originally intended to come back and clean house, but unexpectedly, before he could even take action, someone ran into him.

"Mother Hou, slap her!"

Madam Hou agreed and stepped forward to give the maid a good beating, striking her left and right!

The maidservant cried out and begged for mercy.

Seeing that the maid's mouth was bleeding and her face was bruised and swollen, Jiang Segu raised his hand to stop her.

Do you know where you went wrong?

The maid could only make "mmm" sounds; she couldn't utter a word.

Jiang Segu coldly said, "Since you still don't know where you went wrong, go kneel in the courtyard. Get up when you realize your mistake."

Madam Hou carried the girl out and looked at the group of maids in the courtyard, saying sternly, "From now on, if anyone is as outspoken as Caiju, they can forget about having any words to say!"

Everyone responded with trepidation.

After Madam Hou entered the room, Jiang Segu ordered her to open the storeroom and retrieve the account books. She wanted to personally select out all the items that Liang Shaojie had brought.

As she looked around, she realized how cheap the things Liang Shaojie had brought were. The most valuable item was a silver hairpin with a begonia flower design, worth no more than ten taels of silver!

The gifts she gave him were all worth hundreds of taels of silver, yet she was still afraid that Liang Shaojie would say she was vulgar.

Not much of what Liang Shaojie brought was worth accounting for, and it was quickly sorted out.

The box, about a foot square, was only half full. Jiang Segu gave a sarcastic smirk.

In her previous life, she was truly blind in both eyes and mind.

Just as she was about to turn around, her gaze fell upon a maidservant beside her, who was placing a broken necklace into a jewelry box.

She remembered that this necklace was a gift from her grandmother, so why is it missing so badly?

"Where are the gold lock and South Sea pearls on this necklace?"
