Chapter 22 Preparing for Early Certification

What Li Xunjin said matched what Shen Qingqing had said a few days ago.

Li Xunli looked at Shen Qingqing, who looked up with her hands on her hips, looking extremely smug.

Li Xunli knew her daughter well; if it were a fake, the child wouldn't be able to act so smug.

Shen Qingqing waited and waited, but her mother didn't praise her. After thinking for a while, she decided to give her mother a way out: "Mom! I can make money now, aren't you going to praise me?"

"Dream on! If you earn money, save it properly and don't spend it recklessly, understand?" Li Xunli was sure that Shen Qingqing had earned it herself, and Li Xunjin had even praised her. A smile immediately appeared on her face. Seeing her smug look, she couldn't help but scold her with a playful tone.

Shen Qingqing twisted her body, already quite satisfied, and rushed to her mother's side, hugging her leg. "I didn't squander it! I only took two thousand to repair your porcelain kiln, and I had my uncle give me the rest to make money from stocks!"

Li Xunjin smiled and rolled up the remaining six hundred yuan of the two thousand yuan with the change he had just received, then handed it to Li Xunli: "Here, Qingqing gave this to you!"

Li Xunli took the money, clutched it tightly in her hand, and kept smiling.

"Mom, why don't you invest in stocks with Uncle and make money too?" Shen Qingqing looked up at her mother's happy face and felt happy too.

Unexpectedly, Li Xunli immediately shook her head and refused: "No, no, stock trading is too dangerous. You should also be careful. Making a profit is enough. Don't be too greedy."

After listening, Shen Qingqing exchanged a glance with her uncle but did not refute him.

Her mother was just a cautious person when it came to money, and Shen Qingqing didn't think there was anything wrong with that.

She was just giving her mother a small suggestion. If her mother was willing, their family could earn more money. If her mother wasn't willing, that was fine too. She could make money from her own money!

Finally, the mother and her two daughters hitched a ride home with Li Xunjin.

It's still more than an hour before Shen Rongzhou gets off work and comes back.

Shen Qingqing first went to the kitchen to rinse and cook the rice, and then washed two pears, one for herself and one for her mother. They sat on the sofa and ate them while chatting: "Mom, when are you going to make porcelain after the kiln is repaired?"

“Go do it when you get off work. It’s not getting dark so early now. The electrical circuit at the porcelain kiln hasn’t been reconnected yet. Contact your great-uncle tomorrow and ask him to take a look,” Li Xunli replied.

Shen Qingqing swallowed the pear in her mouth and tentatively asked, "If Uncle Chen successfully sells those five sets of porcelain, will you resign?"

"What nonsense are you talking about! Work is work. Do you expect to make a living off firing porcelain once?" Li Xunli threw the fruit pit into the trash can, wiped her hands clean, and poked Shen Qingqing's forehead.

"What if there was a long-term job firing porcelain? Would you want it?" Shen Qingqing continued to ask.

Li Xunli, however, thought Shen Qingqing was referring to Zhang Zeqin's ceramics factory. "Qingqing, finding a job isn't just about the salary. Although that Mr. Zhang offered 5,000 yuan, but..."

Shen Qingqing realized her mother had misunderstood when she heard the words "General Manager Zhang," and quickly waved her hand: "Mom, you've misunderstood! I knew a long time ago that you weren't going to work at Uncle Zhang's ceramics factory. What I mean is, if there were another job where you could do the ceramics you're making for a long time, would you quit?"

Li Xunli chuckled: "Silly girl, what kind of job is that? You see, this time we only got this business because someone specifically sought us out. If no one came looking for us, we'd all starve!"

Shen Qingqing sipped her pear juice and said, "So, Mom, you can't just make one kind of porcelain! If you can make many different kinds of porcelain, like ceramic buttons for clothes, ceramic brooches, or ceramic bracelets to match clothes, and many other small animal figurines, people will have more choices, and you'll always be able to sell them!"

These words touched on Li Xunli's memories from many years ago. She paused for two or three seconds before saying, "You little rascal, where did you hear these words from?"

Shen Qingqing didn't miss her mother's awkward pause just now. Thinking of that box of exquisite little porcelain figurines, but no one had known that her mother could make porcelain for more than ten years, she reasonably guessed that her mother probably really knew what she was talking about.

Shen Qingqing stopped pressing her mother for answers, chuckled, and said that she had seen it on DVDs from Hong Kong when she visited Chen Man's house last time.

No matter how much she hints now, her mother won't think anything of it. She'll have to wait until her uncle has successfully restructured the company before she can properly talk to her mother.

When Shen Rongzhou returned that evening, he brought back another piece of good news.

Li Xunli was carrying soup out of the kitchen when she heard Shen Rongzhou say this, and quickly asked, "What good news?"

Shen Rongzhou walked over and took the soup from her hands, saying cheerfully, "I'm going to take my driving test (Part 1) ahead of schedule!"

Shen Qingqing's eyes lit up immediately, "Ahead of schedule?"

“Yes! The driving school teacher who came to teach us today brought a set of test papers for us to do. I got the highest score out of five people, ninety-eight!” Shen Rongzhou said proudly. “Then the teacher picked out several questions that weren’t on the test paper for me, and I answered them all. He said that I could have taken the test earlier, but because the others hadn’t caught up with me yet, he had to let me postpone it a little longer.”

"It just so happened that Mr. Zhang happened to be passing by. He immediately said, 'Why should I be delayed because of other people? Why don't you just register for the exam and take it sooner? The sooner you pass, the sooner he'll have one more person to drive.'"

"So, I should be taking my theory test next Wednesday."

Shen Qingqing asked curiously, "Dad, did you start practicing driving after you passed your written test (Theory Test 1)?"

Shen Rongzhou added rice to the bowls for all four of them, sat down, and said while eating, "No, I've already started getting used to it. I've been driving the car from the garage to the front of the factory recently, and I'm familiar with the basic operations. I should be taking the tests one by one and getting my license in one go."

"That's wonderful!" Li Xunli's face was also full of smiles.

After all, once Shen Rongzhou got his certificate, it meant that his job had officially become stable, instead of just studying in the factory every day and occasionally helping with odd jobs like loading goods.

"Mr. Zhang also said that once I get my driver's license, he'll let me drive short distances for two months first. That way, I can go home a few more times a month. If I drive long distances, I might only be home once or twice a month." Shen Rongzhou also mentioned the problems that would arise after he officially started driving.

Then he looked at Li Xunli and said, "Honey, you always thought learning to ride a motorcycle was troublesome, but if I'm going to be driving around a lot in the future, you'll need to have a vehicle to ride yourself. How about we start learning to ride a motorcycle in the next couple of days?"
