Chapter 82 "ABCD..."

Shen Rongzhou looked at Shen Qingqing sitting next to him watching TV with a surprised expression. He did not expect that Shen Qingqing really knew how to do it. Whether it was the pronunciation of the letters or the introduction of the letters, Shen Qingqing got them all right!

Even the Chinese characters in English books are written like this!

The female voice on the television continued: "The lowercase letter 'A' looks exactly like the 'a' in Chinese pinyin..."

"Dad, Dad, look and learn quickly!" Shen Qingqing patted her father's elbow and urged him.

For Chinese people, learning the English alphabet has a natural advantage, which is that the English alphabet and pinyin are very similar, except that the English alphabet has fewer characters than pinyin and the pronunciation is different from pinyin.

However, the difficulty lies here: the order in which you memorize the text and the pronunciation you remember are completely different.

In particular, Shen Rongzhou has been out of school for more than ten years, and he learned pinyin more than twenty years ago. Adults' learning speed is no longer as fast as when they were children.

I studied diligently for two hours this morning and finally managed to learn all twenty-six letters of the English alphabet twice.

And even then, sometimes when reading it aloud, it turns into "Ah-bo-chi-de..."

Shen Qingqing taught him while correcting him with a mix of amusement and exasperation. Fortunately, he eventually managed to remember how to read and write it.

It wasn't for nothing that Shen Qingqing would pretend not to remember from time to time to ask Shen Rongzhou questions.

"Dad, study a little longer, I'll go cook! Aren't you supposed to go to work this afternoon?" Shen Qingqing glanced at the time, it was almost 11:30, and quickly jumped up and rushed to the kitchen.

Shen Rongzhou felt like there were little people fighting in his head, one called Pinyin and the other called English letters. The result of the two little people fighting was that his tongue was almost tied in knots.

"A, B, C, D...A, B, C, D...A, B, C, D..."

As Shen Rongzhou muttered to himself, he wrote on the paper again and again with a pen.

A bad pen is worse than a good memory.

Shen Qingqing made a simple lunch of two dishes and a soup: a cabbage dish, a steamed fish dish, and a large bowl of tomato and egg drop soup.

Before the fish was cooked, Shen Qingqing called Li Xunli and asked her to come home for dinner.

During the meal, everyone in Shenrongzhou was still in a daze.

It's really a bit too much to keep up with studying at my age.

Shen Qingqing was overjoyed, but still reminded him, "Dad, when you're driving this afternoon, don't get distracted and start reciting English!"

Shen Rongzhou took a bite of fish, raised his hand and waved, "I need to rest my brain this afternoon. I'll review when I have some free time on the road."

After finishing their meal, Shen Rongzhou went to work. Li Xunli, while washing the dishes, asked Shen Qingqing, "What did you all do this morning? Your dad's eyes are so blurry."

While wiping the dining table with a rag, Shen Qingqing replied, "We went to buy a DVD player. It's paused now, and then we'll start learning English when we get back. Dad learned all twenty-six letters of the alphabet this morning!"

Li Xunli burst out laughing in the kitchen, "No wonder..."

For the next few days, Shen Rongzhou studied English at home in the morning and went to work in the afternoon until after the Lantern Festival, when primary and high schools reopened.

The day before high school started, Shen Rongzhou was notified to go to the private high school to pick up his books.

Zhang Zeqin took care of all the student registration procedures.

Their books are different from those of high school students. After all, most high school students nowadays have a foundation in English. They learned it in elementary school, and with the added practice in junior high, they have already been through a lot of practice problems by high school.

Shen Qingqing compared the English textbooks for third graders with those for Shen Rongzhou and his classmates, and found that they were basically similar. However, the third graders' textbooks had less content and longer class time, since the children were still young and could not absorb too much knowledge at once, so they needed to digest it little by little.

In adult high school English textbooks, each lesson consists of only 26 letters of the alphabet, and then the lessons begin with vocabulary, simple dialogues, and grammar.

Moreover, the vocabulary and grammar they learned were different from those in the third-grade textbook.

The more Shen Qingqing read, the more she felt that Shen Rongzhou's book was more suitable for her grade skipping progress, while the elementary school English textbook was more suitable for Shen Rongzhou's pace.

However, Shen Qingqing plans to combine the two stages of the course. She also needs to help her father learn, since he can't understand it anyway, so she can fool both sides.

Because the private high school is quite far away, Shen Rongzhou now gets up a little earlier every morning than before, but fortunately he has a motorcycle to ride, so he's not too rushed.

Shen Qingqing has also returned to normal schooling and no longer needs to disappear from class from time to time to participate in competitions.

The happiest person was none other than Chen Man, who sat next to her.

"Qingqing! Happy New Year!" Chen Man gave Shen Qingqing a bear hug and said with a grin, "Thanks to the few days you helped me review before I went to the competition, I got a 99 on my final math exam, which made my parents and uncle so happy!"

"My uncle took us to Hainan for Chinese New Year and bought a lot of coconuts, but we've already eaten them all and there are only four or five left. When my dad comes to pick me up this afternoon, I'll give you two to take back and eat! Coconut water is so delicious!"

"However, the flesh is a bit firm. You can ask your mom to cook it, and it will become soft and chewy, which will also taste delicious!"

Chen Man was clearly very happy, chattering away nonstop.

Shen Qingqing's eyes lit up when she heard about coconuts.

To be honest, she had never actually eaten a coconut before. The only time she ate coconut chicken was when she was in college, and the broth contained strips of coconut meat.

She couldn't forget it after she tried it, because it really was just like Chen Man said, soft and chewy with a bit of a gelatinous texture, and the taste fascinated Shen Qingqing.

Unfortunately, it wasn't cheap for a meal, and I didn't have much time after that, so I never ate there again.

The first class after the start of the semester was taught by our homeroom teacher, Mr. Chen Zesong. He wasn't in a hurry to start the lesson; instead, he walked into the classroom with a beaming smile and proudly announced, "Classmates, I'm sure you all know by now that we've all heard about this! Our classmate, Shen Qingqing, participated in the provincial knowledge competition and won second prize! Let's give her a round of applause! We should all study hard like Shen Qingqing, okay?"

After saying that, he took the lead in clapping, and then all thirty little kids in the class except Shen Qingqing clapped vigorously while turning their heads to look at Shen Qingqing from time to time.

Shen Qingqing was so embarrassed she almost tore through the soles of her shoes!

Then Chen Zesong took out an envelope. "Come on, Qingqing, come up and take this down."

Shen Qingqing's eyes lit up. When the final exams came, she hadn't finished the competition yet, and the school didn't know what kind of results she would get, so the school's promised reward didn't come to her.

So, the school's reward has arrived in my account?!
