Chapter 8 Cooking Together (2/2)

"Look."

Xu Ningjun poured some oil into the pot and waited patiently for the oil to heat up.

Cheng Chuan supported the table with one hand, stood beside her, and looked at the pot, "What are you waiting for?"

"The oil is hot."

"No fire."

Pursing his lips, Xu Ningjun raised his head and asked, "Why don't you light the fire?"

Instead of reflecting on yourself, it is better to blame others.

He lowered his eyes to look at her, with a faint smile on his face, and said something, going to light a fire.

Xu Ningjun couldn't help laughing out loud, feeling embarrassed by his own stupidity.

After the pan and oil were heated, she poured the pork in.

The pork was a mixture of fat and lean meat, and of very good quality. The pork that Xiaohu gave was all good meat.

Cut into small, even and beautiful pieces.

Xu Ningjun used a large ladle to split the food apart and stir-fried it. The aroma of lard filled the air.

She continued to order, "Cut some green onions."

After pouring a spoonful of cooking wine, soy sauce, salt and sugar into the pot, Xu Ningjun turned around to get the lid of the pot, wanting to simmer it slowly.

Turning around, he poured the chopped onions into the pot.

"Cheng Chuan!"

She was angry again, what had he done wrong again.

The young educated youth was angry every day.

"I told you to let it go, then let it go, don't make trouble."

The soft and sticky voice sounded like someone acting coquettishly. Cheng Chuan felt a lump in his teeth and nodded.

"Shred the potatoes and green and red peppers as well."

Xu Ningjun stood aside, looking at him with disdain as he cut the potatoes into pieces, "Can you shred potatoes?"

"You coming?"

She came as she pleased, took the knife, and Xu Ningjun thought for a moment before cutting it. The person beside him hissed.

"Cheng Chuan, if you want to talk, I have a knife in my hand."

It would have been easier if he hadn't said this, but once he said it, Cheng Chuan lowered his head and laughed.

The young educated youth is really... hard to describe.

She is delicate and playful, and she is not forgiving with her words, like a kitten with its head held high.

How funny it would be to see a cat like this on the street.

"You can laugh now. You're usually so fierce."

Xu Ningjun muttered, and Cheng Chuan raised the end of his eyebrows. Is he fierce?

"Give it to me."

Sooner or later she would cut her hand, so Cheng Chuan took the knife and skillfully cut it into shreds.

Xu Ningjun went to see how the braised pork rice was and opened the lid.

She left a little of the gravy for the braised pork rice before eating it. She turned around to wash two bowls and heard the sound of something falling into the pot behind her.

"What did you throw in there again?"

She rushed back angrily and glared at Cheng Chuan.

Cheng Chuan pointed and saw a small potato lying alone on the top of the braised pork rice.

When I was cutting, the pot fell off.

He's kind of cute when he honestly admits his mistakes.

Xu Ningjun hummed a long sigh and said, "Let's put this potato in the pot."

There are only two dishes in total, braised pork rice with shredded potatoes.

Xu Ningjun didn’t know how to stir-fry spicy and sour potato shreds, so apart from adjusting the flavor of the braised pork rice, everything else was done by Cheng Chuan.

She was like a chef in a five-star hotel, with an assistant by her side while she performed.

"Don't clean up, I'll do it after we finish eating...you can wash it later."

Xu Ningjun said while eating that the food was almost cold, but he was still washing pots and dishes in the kitchen.

After washing, Cheng Chuan wiped his hands and prepared to leave.

The pot is heavy so she doesn't have to wash it after eating.

"Come and sit down."

Xu Ningjun tapped the table with his chopsticks. "Thank you for helping me today. I'll treat you to a meal. Besides, I made so much, it would be a waste if I don't eat it."

Cheng Chuan thought about it and decided to take the chopsticks she handed him to avoid the young educated youth banging on the table and bench at him.

He couldn't remember the last time he had eaten meat. The meat was fried with even fat and lean meat until it was fragrant, and the white rice was topped with oily gravy, which was tempting and delicious.

He swallowed it and found it a little fresh.

He and his grandmother basically have porridge for three meals a day.

Thin and watery sweet potato porridge, sometimes potato porridge.

It was cooked in plain water and had no taste. Whenever he wanted to add some salt, he would be scolded by his uncle and aunt.

Today was the most delicious meal he had ever had.

"Cheng Chuan............"

Just as Xu Ningjun was about to speak, a woman's sharp cry came from outside, "Where have you been, you little bastard? Why are you here?"
