Chapter 2: Going out for a divorce

Linglong knew that if she said she wanted to go find Liu Baogen, the Liu family would definitely not agree, so she had to do it secretly without telling them.

In this day and age, it is not easy to travel far away. You need a letter of introduction wherever you go.

After careful consideration, Linglong went to the village party secretary's house under the pretext of going to her neighbor's house to look for shoe patterns.

She went in with a sad face, her emotions brewing.

"Hongdou, what's wrong? Tell your aunt." The village party secretary's wife was the first to show concern. Everyone in the village followed the Liu family in calling her Hongdou, but few knew her real name was Linglong.

"Aunt, Baogen, Baogen." She covered her face and cried.

"Tell me what happened to Baogen." The secretary's wife stamped her feet anxiously.

"Baogen wants to divorce me." Linglong sobbed.

"What!" The village party secretary stood up.

Linglong took out the letter Liu Baogen wrote to her.

The village party secretary was literate and even recognized Liu Baogen's handwriting. He got angry when he saw the content.

"Baogen, this kid is so confused!"

"Secretary, I want to go to the army to visit my relatives. It must be a few years since I last saw them. That's why Baogen doesn't want me anymore."

"I think Hongdou should go. Our Hongdou is such a pretty and capable daughter-in-law. Baogen will definitely regret it when he sees her." The secretary's wife expressed her support first.

The village party secretary also liked Linglong, so he said, "You want a letter of introduction, right? Okay, I can help you get it, but do your parents-in-law know about this?"

Linglong shook her head. "Secretary, I don't want them to get angry and worried. I can just go and talk to Baogen about this myself."

"Then if you leave, how can your parents-in-law not know about it?"

"I heard that the cotton mill in the city is hiring temporary workers. I'll tell my parents-in-law to apply for the job. It won't be a problem if they don't come back for a few days."

After a few days, she had already gone far away, so I was no longer afraid.

"As a girl, can you travel far away?" The village party secretary was still worried.

Linglong persuaded the village party secretary to reassure her and he wrote her a letter of introduction.

When Linglong got home, she said she wanted to go to the city to apply for a temporary job. Liu Yu thought it was a trivial matter, but her mother disagreed.

"Hongdou is not in good health, how can she go through such hardship? She should just stay at home."

"But I feel bad at home. I'm going to the city to try. Even if I don't get elected, it'll be a break. If I do, I can earn money to support you."

The autumn harvest has passed and there is not much work to do in the fields, so everyone is idle most of the time.

Liu's mother still didn't want to agree, but Liu Xu agreed.

When packing up, Linglong realized that she didn't have many clothes at all.

My mother-in-law always said it was for her, but what she wore were all the clothes left by Liu Baoqin. It was because she was stupid before and believed everything others said.

She simply packed two sets of clothes and took out her little pocket money.

When Liu Yu was about to go into the city, she asked her mother to get her some money and tickets, which made her mother very sad. Although she tried to hide it, the sensitive Linglong still found out.

Soon, Linglong set off with the villagers who were going to the city.

As soon as she left, Liu's mother started to grumble. "It's all your fault. Why did you let Linglong suffer this?"

Liu Baoqin happened to be visiting her uncle's house and had not been at home for the past few days. Otherwise, she would not have been willing to let Linglong come to the city.

As soon as she left Liujia Village, Linglong felt that the air became fresher.

She stayed at Liu's house these past two days and was afraid to sleep soundly at night, fearing that she would lose her life accidentally.

Once she entered the city, she separated from the villagers and after many twists and turns, she finally bought a ticket and entered the train station.

After buying the train tickets, there was little money left from her own savings and what her mother-in-law gave her, so she had to be frugal on the journey.

Perhaps because she lived many more years in her previous life, Linglong is not afraid of going out.

But she didn't expect that there would be so many people on the train. When she got on, she almost couldn't squeeze in.

After finding her seat and sitting down, Linglong, who was starving, took out the last steamed bun made of two-grain flour from her bag. The bun was already dry and hard.

Fortunately, Liu Baogen sent some things home, including a military water bottle, which she took with her when she went out. She also went to get some hot water so that she could eat the dry buns with it.

The carriage was filled with a mixture of various smells, making it quite unpleasant. After Linglong had eaten and drunk her fill, she leaned back and rested.

Even if the conditions were bad, she could endure it as long as she could successfully divorce and leave the Liu family.

Along the way, she only bought a few steamed buns on the train as a meal. When she saw other food, she also wanted to eat it, but she was reluctant to spend money.

She didn't know how this trip would end, so she tried to save as much money as possible. Even so, she was thankful that she didn't need a ticket to buy food on the train.

When Linglong heard the conductor shout that they had arrived at the station, she hurried to squeeze down, fearing that she would be left behind on the train if she walked too slowly.

But just as she got off, she heard someone exclaim on the platform.

It turned out that an old lady had fainted.

Linglong couldn't help but run over.

Some people were calling for the old lady, and others were asking if there was a doctor.

In her previous life, Linglong had read many books when she was bored, including some on medicine, and had also watched medical first aid science programs on TV.

She squeezed in and knelt before the old lady, then examined her according to the knowledge she remembered.

Seeing her professional demeanor, the people around her thought she was a doctor and quieted down.

"Scatter!" Linglong yelled and began to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the old lady.

She pressed a few times and then gave the old lady artificial respiration.

After going back and forth many times, the old lady finally opened her eyes.

"Wake up, wake up!"

"He's really awake!"

"This girl is amazing!"

Linglong, who was praised for her greatness, sat next to him, breathing heavily and sweating all over. She was both nervous and tired.

The crowd parted, and the two men in military uniforms could finally see Linglong's face clearly.

Although Linglong's face was covered in sweat, she looked exceptionally beautiful at the moment!

Zheng Tiansen was amazed and only had admiration.

Liu Baogen standing by was simply amazed.

"Mom, what's wrong with you?"

A figure ran past them and rushed in front of the old lady.

Unexpectedly, the old lady inside was the mother of their comrade Tong Dazhu. Zheng Tiansen and Liu Baogen hurriedly followed her in.

Everyone was talking at once to explain what had happened to Tong Dazhu Mingqi, and then looking at Linglong beside them, their eyes were full of gratitude!

"Thank you, comrade!"

Linglong pursed her lips and smiled, "It's my duty."

But when she saw the two people behind Tong Dazhu, she was stunned.

Isn’t this the young Liu Baogen? This is the person she is looking for.

Just when she was stunned and didn't know how to talk to Liu Baogen, Liu Baogen spoke.

"Comrade, you're amazing. Are you a medical student?"

Wait, Liu Baogen didn’t recognize her?

Linglong subconsciously looked at herself.

She was eighteen or so years old, and the last time she met Liu Baogen was more than a year ago.

Maybe she had changed so much during this period that Liu Baogen didn't recognize her?

But she remembered that in order to make Liu Baogen agree to their marriage, the Liu family took her to the city to take photos and sent the developed photos to him.

But he didn't recognize her, Linglong just felt ironic.

Zheng Tiansen, who was standing by, saw that she didn't say anything and looked a little uneasy, so he quickly bumped into Liu Baogen.

"Aren't you going to meet your partner? Go quickly, I'm here."

Liu Baogen then remembered that he and Yingying had an appointment to meet. He glanced at Linglong and was reluctant to leave.

Linglong behind him sneered. Liu Baogen didn't know she was coming, so the person he was going to meet would definitely not be her.

It turned out that he was having an affair with Xu Yingying at this time, no wonder he wanted to "divorce" her.
