At the door of Tong’s house, Congcong was in tears.
Linglong Li put the baby in the car and squatted in front of Congcong with a distressed look on her face.
"Be good, Congcong. Mom and uncle are going out for a few days and will be back soon."
"Mom, Congcong is a good boy." His little hands held Linglong's clothes and he was reluctant to let go.
"Mom, come back and buy Congcong some delicious food and toys, okay?"
"Congcong, I want my mother." The little guy pouted and looked very aggrieved. For his mother, he would give up anything else.
Zheng Tiansen checked his watch, strode over, and squatted next to Linglong. He said to Congcong in a gentle voice, "Congcong, are you a little man?"
Congcong nodded, he still remembered what his uncle said.
"If you are a little man, you can't cry easily. Mom and uncle are busy, and Congcong is still young, so we can't take you with us. When Congcong grows up, we will take you with us when we go out. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Congcong has grown up, and mom will take Congcong with her when she goes out." Linglong also promised.
"Congcong, uncle makes a pinky promise with you." Zheng Tiansen stretched out his little finger.
Congcong also understood this, and although he still felt aggrieved, he still stretched out his little hand.
After they made the promise, Linglong hugged Congcong again before looking at Aunt Tong who was standing beside her.
"Auntie, I'm sorry to bother you these few days."
"Go ahead and don't worry."
Linglong then got up and got into the car.
The car started, Linglong opened the window and waved to Congcong.
"Goodbye, Congcong. Mom will be back soon. Take good care of yourself and grandma."
The car was getting farther and farther away. Congcong sobbed and told himself that he was a little man and couldn't cry.
But he just felt like she was his mother.
Finally unable to hold it in any longer, the little guy burst into tears with a loud "wow".
Aunt Tong sighed and pulled the little one back into the house to coax him.
In the car, Linglong was still feeling a little depressed.
Xiao Jiang was driving the car, and Zheng Tiansen sat in the back with Linglong.
Seeing her sad and reluctant look, he reached out and held her hand.
"Linglong, Congcong can't always be by your side."
She knew it very well, but after bringing Congcong home, the two of them had never been separated for so long, and she was reluctant to let him go.
"Brother Zheng, I'm fine. I'll be fine in a while." As she spoke, she pulled her hand away.
Zheng Tiansen sighed in his heart, not knowing when he would be able to hold Linglong's hand without any scruples.
Fortunately, there is still a long way to go.
Xiao Jiang, who was driving in the front, looked straight ahead, completely treating himself as an invisible man.
Linglong was in a bad mood, and because of Xiao Jiang's presence, she didn't talk much to Zheng Tiansen along the way.
When the train finally arrived at the train station, Xiao Jiang helped them send Li to the entrance, and Zheng Tiansen sent Xiao Jiang back.
"You're not needed here anymore. Drive back and drive slowly. I haven't been busy these days, so you should take a break."
"Yes, Captain." Xiao Jiang saluted and turned to leave.
Zheng Tiansen held a big bag in each hand and didn't let Linglong take anything.
All Linglong had left was the small bag she was carrying.
Before coming, Linglong thought about bringing gifts to the Zheng family, but Zheng Tiansen said it was not necessary.
In fact, Linglong didn't know what to bring. She thought that the Zheng family all came from the capital, their family conditions were good, and they had seen a lot of good things. She couldn't come up with any expensive gifts that would impress others, so she simply brought some food.
There were pickles, dried wild animals that Zheng Tiansen had brought down from the mountain, and pastries she had made herself.
When they entered the waiting room, they found that everywhere was full and there was no empty seat at all.
Zheng Tiansen looked at his watch and saw that there was still an hour before their train departed, so he found a corner to put the two bags down.
"Linglong, you sit on the bag, I'll stand."
"Brother Zheng, I don't need to sit down. What if something inside gets crushed?"
"It's okay. There's food in your bag, but not in mine. I'm not afraid of it being crushed."
Linglong then sat down, and Zheng Tiansen stood beside her like a pillar.
But having him by her side also made Linglong feel particularly safe.
She sat for a while, then called Zheng Tiansen. "Brother Zheng, I'll get up and you sit for a while."
"No, please sit down. It's only been a short while. When we were training, we stood for much longer than this."
Linglong became curious. "Brother Zheng, you're already the leader, do you have to train with me too?"
Zheng Tiansen smiled. "It's true that I don't have to undergo the same mandatory training as regular soldiers now. But I was a recruit myself, and I did all the guard duty back then. Now, as long as I'm not too busy, I'll go to the training ground for a run and exercise."
Linglong nodded. "That seems to be the case." But when she thought about it, she realized that in the army, except for those in the kitchen, she rarely saw fat people.
Zheng Tiansen stood very still, and he was wearing a cadre's military uniform, so he attracted a lot of attention from the passengers passing by.
Suddenly a little boy ran over.
Zheng Tiansen had just become alert when he saw the little boy stop in front of him, gave a not-quite-standard military salute, and then said with admiration: "Uncle PLA, I want to be a soldier in the future, just like you."
Zheng Tiansen returned the salute and smiled. "Okay, uncle's waiting for you."
This scene looks both warm and touching.
Many people around showed warm smiles.
It seems that he saw the handover between two generations and also saw the bright future of the country.
Shortly after the little boy saluted, the announcement came over the radio that it was time to check tickets for Linglong and her group's train.
Linglong stood up, Zheng Tiansen picked up the two bags, and the two walked towards the ticket gate.
Even though he was holding the bag, Zheng Tiansen still protected Linglong tightly from behind, fearing that she would be squeezed and hurt.
After checking their tickets and entering, they found the entrance to their own carriage, and this time things went much easier.
Perhaps because there were few passengers in the sleeper car, the two of them got on the train easily. After finding their berths, Zheng Tiansen stuffed both bags under the lower bunk.
He and Linglong had a middle bunk and a lower bunk respectively, and he naturally gave the lower bunk to Linglong.
But it was still early, so he didn't go to the middle bunk. After putting his things away, he sat down on a chair in the aisle.
Linglong sat alone on the lower bunk and took out a book from her small bag to read.
Zheng Tiansen glanced at the book cover and saw that it said high school history.
Unexpectedly, Linglong never forgot to study during the journey, and he admired her for that.
Linglong was reading, so he didn't bother her.
In fact, this was also because Linglong thought about having to spend several days with him on the train and didn't know how to deal with it, so she brought a few books with her, thinking of reading to escape.
It just so happened that she didn't want to fall behind in her studies.
She read quietly, slowly immersed in the book, and forgot about her surroundings.
Zheng Tiansen looked at the scenery passing by outside the window, occasionally turning his head to glance at Linglong who was reading gently.
In Zheng Tiansen's eyes, the scene of her reading quietly was the most beautiful scenery, not inferior to those outside the window.
On the contrary, it is even more beautiful.
Zheng Tiansen felt very sorry that he didn’t have a camera and could not record this beautiful scene.
