In the vast land of Northeast China, the wheel of time turns slowly, and the working people finally have a short rest after their hard work.
Yue Yue, the girl with new hope, had already made a thorough plan and was ready to go to the town on this rare day off to start her important action - selling the large amount of food stored in her space.
Today, the clock hands point to September 20, 1975. This seemingly ordinary day is of extraordinary significance to Yue Yue.
The college entrance examination, that critical node that carries the turning point of the fate of countless people, will not arrive for more than two years.
However, Yue Yue knew very well that these two years were precious and she had to make full use of every minute and every second to pave a solid road for her future.
In her previous life, fate was extremely unfair to her. Before she had the chance to step into the college entrance examination hall and pursue her dreams, she was cruelly deprived of her life and became a victim on the road to success of that adulterous couple.
Now that she has been reborn, Yue Yue's heart is burning with a strong desire. She wants to change her destiny and realize her unfulfilled dreams in this new life.
In order to achieve this goal, the first thing she needed to do was to collect as much college entrance examination information as possible.
She clearly remembered that after she died in her previous life, her soul seemed to be bound in a small circle, either circling around the hypocritical and vicious couple, or immersed in the ocean of knowledge in the library.
It was that time in the library that gave her a deeper desire for knowledge, and also left a deep impression on her of the questions in the winter college entrance examination of 1977.
These memories have now become her precious wealth and an important cornerstone for her to realize her dreams.
With such firm belief and vision for the future, Yue Yue embarked on a journey to the town.
She got on the familiar ox cart and, together with other educated youth, slowly moved forward on the bumpy road.
The educated youth on the bus each had different thoughts and expectations, including Yue Xin and Mo Shihao.
Like other educated youth, they were full of expectations for the town, but their purposes were slightly different.
They wanted to go to the town to see if their family had sent them anything. Those letters and packages from afar might be the few solaces and concerns they had in this difficult life in the countryside.
Along the way, the ox cart was swaying on the dirt road, like an elderly man taking difficult steps.
The land of Northeast China gradually shows the scene of autumn, and the golden wheat waves sway gently in the breeze, as if telling the joy of the harvest.
However, as time went by, a chill gradually filled the air, foreshadowing the approaching winter in the Northeast.
The other educated youth on the bus were like a group of cheerful little birds, chirping non-stop.
They were enthusiastically discussing the upcoming literacy campaign in the village, with excitement glittering in their eyes.
For these educated youth, this activity was not only an opportunity to learn, but also a stage for them to show themselves in this dull life in the countryside.
They were all eager to try, hoping to stand out in this event and win those precious places.
They imagined that through this activity, they could learn more knowledge and perhaps add some different colors to their future life path.
However, in this lively atmosphere, Yue Xin seemed exceptionally quiet.
She lowered her head silently, her eyes revealing a vicissitude and fatigue that was inconsistent with her age.
Having experienced all kinds of hardships and setbacks in this life, she has long seen through the ups and downs of the world.
In this life, Yue Yue just wants to stay away from the disputes and noise and live her own life.
She was deeply disgusted by the intrigues for fame and fortune among the educated youth. The scenes of fighting and framing each other for places in the Workers, Peasants and Soldiers University were still vivid in her mind.
She knows very well how difficult it is to keep a pure heart in this environment full of temptations of interests.
But she was determined to stick to her own heart and no longer be disturbed by the noise of the outside world.
As the ox cart slowly moved forward, the outline of the town finally came into view.
Those rows of simple houses and narrow streets were full of hope and possibilities in Yue Yue's eyes.
When the oxcart stopped at the town entrance, Yue Yue jumped off the cart eagerly. With a clear goal in mind, she headed straight for the public toilet. She carefully observed her surroundings, making sure no one behind her noticed her actions.
After confirming it was safe, she quickly slipped into the space.
A moment later, when Yue Yue walked out of the public toilet again, she had become a completely different image.
She seemed to have turned into a typical Northeastern rural aunt, with a healthy wheat-colored skin, which was the result of long-term work in the fields and being exposed to the sun.
Her hands were covered with thick calluses, the marks left by time and hard work.
She was wearing a simple flowery cotton jacket, a bright flowered headscarf, and carrying a basket of eggs. She looked no different from an ordinary rural woman.
Just like that, she swaggered out of the public toilet, and then, relying on the route she remembered, she took many twists and turns to reach the black market.
The black market, a place full of mystery during special times, hides countless unknown transactions and stories.
Yue Yue came to the entrance of the black market, paid two cents according to the rules, and successfully entered this mysterious world.
She was both nervous and excited. After all, the transactions here were full of risks, but they also contained huge opportunities.
