Chapter 24: Eating melons never catches up with the front line

After everyone left, Wang Qingqing, who had been extremely nervous and afraid of being discovered, sat down on the ground like a deflated ball.

She let out an exaggerated sigh of relief and patted her chest, "Oh my god, I was so scared just now!"

"Especially when that guy looked towards us just now!"

"I thought he had discovered us!"

Wang Qingqing had never been on the front line of eating melons before.

This is the first time.

After the nervousness, he became excited and kept talking to Wang Cuilan.

Wang Cuilan was still thinking about what she had just heard, and responded absentmindedly.

Seeing that Wang Qingqing was about to continue talking, he immediately interrupted her and said, "Don't we still have to deliver herbal tea to the people at the west end of the village? Let's go quickly."

“That’s right!”

Wang Qingqing patted her head and smiled sheepishly at Wang Cuilan, "I was so excited to see a play up close for the first time that I almost forgot about sending her the herbal tea!"

Wang Cuilan: “…”

They were not far from the west end of the village now, only two or three minutes away.

Arriving at the cowshed, Wang Cuilan didn't see anyone living there. Thinking they were probably still working, she pursed her lips and said, "Let's leave the herbal tea here and go back. They'll probably drink it when they come back!"

Although Wang Qingqing had some other ideas in her mind, seeing that Wang Cuilan had already said so, she could only nod in agreement.

Not long after the two men left, a woman came back.

The woman had a pretty face, and even though she was wearing patched clothes, her beauty was still evident.

When she opened the door and saw the small bucket on the table, the beautiful woman was slightly stunned.

Then, as if she remembered something, she quickly stepped forward and opened the lid of the bucket. Seeing that there was indeed black herbal tea inside, joy flashed in the woman's eyes.

She scooped the tea into a coarse porcelain bowl and drank a large bowl herself. Then she filled the small bucket with the rest of the herbal tea using a bamboo tube.

In the threshing ground at the west end of the village, a thin-looking man was pouring corn cobs out of a basket. Just after he emptied a basket, he looked up and saw his wife walking towards him with a bamboo tube in her hand.

"Why did you come so soon? Didn't you take a rest in the house?" The man was a little worried about his wife's health.

The woman handed him the bamboo tube and said with a smile, "Aren't we in a hurry to bring you some herbal tea?"

"Even if it's just the herbal tea, there's no rush. It'll be the same if you rest up enough before delivering it!"

He stopped what he was doing, took the bamboo tube handed to him by his wife, tilted his head back and started drinking it down with big gulps.

As soon as the man took a sip of the tea, he noticed something different from before.

He took the bamboo tube and looked at it, then took a sip tentatively and hesitated: "Herbal tea?"

The beautiful woman glared at him when she heard this, "Didn't I just tell you? It seems like you weren't really listening to me."

The man was speechless.

Well, seeing her man like this, what else is there for the beautiful woman to not understand?

She glared at the man again and explained, "When I got home, the bucket of herbal tea was already on the table. I guess it was sent by our son!"

The man shook his head upon hearing this: "It's not our son. He always comes home at night and usually comes to our place in the middle of the morning. It's already this time now, it can't be our son."

"Who else could it be?" The beautiful woman was also puzzled. She said, "It can't be Wang Cuilan, right?"

The man thought about it and shook his head. "That's probably not the case. Our son hasn't told her about our relationship. Cuilan probably won't send her herbal tea."
