The head of the Revolutionary Committee was a man in his forties. Song Lili disliked him at first sight because his eyes were full of malice, and it was clear that he was not a magnanimous person.
However, Song Lili had no intention of backing down. With so many people witnessing the scene, she didn't believe that the leader could just brush it off.
Moreover, she didn't actually want to achieve the result she desired; she was merely making things more difficult for Luo Juan.
So, upon meeting this person in charge, there was no need for any networking; she simply asked, "You're the person in charge here, right?"
Wei Ming looked at the sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl standing in front of him, a flash of gloom in his eyes, then he stood up with a smile.
"Yes, I'm the person in charge. How can I help you?"
“I want to report your Red Guards. They search other people’s homes without any evidence, and they keep searching the same place over and over again. They’re practically ready to demolish my house.”
“I know this is your job,” Song Lili interrupted Wei Ming before he could say anything, “but your people have gone too far.”
“I actively cooperated with your work, but it’s obvious that your people are here to cause me trouble. It seems like they won’t leave until they find something in my house.”
"I just want to ask, what gives them the right? Just because they're Red Guards, does that mean they can search homes without asking any questions?"
“My family has been poor peasants for generations, and our family background is very good. I think you are trying to undermine socialism and hinder our construction of socialism.”
Song Lili didn't give Wei Ming a chance to speak, and rattled off everything she wanted to say.
Then, she looked at Wei Ming with an attitude that said, "If you don't give me an explanation, I'll never let you off the hook."
Wei Ming's originally gloomy face froze for a moment when he saw the anger on Song Lili's face and Zhang Qinghua standing silently behind her, before he put on a gloomy face again.
"Comrade, don't worry, tell me slowly. If it really is our comrade's problem, I will definitely give you an explanation."
As he spoke, he looked at Song Lili with a smile, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.
Song Lili cursed him as a smiling tiger. This kind of person clearly hides a knife behind a smile. The brighter the smile on his face, the more vicious his heart.
Song Lili thought to herself, "This time I don't really want to ask him for a favor, otherwise this guy could have ruined me and then smiled and told me he was my benefactor."
You should stay away from this kind of person if you can.
So Song Lili obediently sat down and took two heavy breaths, as if to suppress her anger.
"Boss, I'm not trying to cause trouble, let me make this clear. This has happened twice already, and your people haven't found anything and they won't admit their mistakes. I'm just so angry that I came here."
"You know, we country folk are honest and law-abiding. We just stay at home and farm. Where would we get the things they're talking about?"
“Take the last time for example, your group leader here, named Luo Juan, brought a large group of people and said that my family was promoting feudal superstition and capitalism.”
"Well, I have nothing to hide. I let them search the house, but they didn't find anything."
"I told you, could you please have evidence before you come back next time? We can't take being scared, we're timid and afraid." Song Lili subtly gave Luo Juan a piece of her mind.
"Well, it hasn't been long, and here we go again. This time it's even worse, it's your comrade named Chen Hongjun."
“When everyone else has searched and said they haven’t found anything, they insist that there’s something in my house and they must find it.”
“He searched my house several times, but he couldn’t find anything. However, he insisted that something was hidden in my house.”
"I'm so confused. How does he know better than I do whether there's anything in my house? I even suspect he planted it there to frame me. Otherwise, how could he know so much?"
Seeing Wei Ming's face turn ashen, Song Lili, as if having finished venting her frustrations, looked at Wei Ming with a trusting expression.
"Boss, you have to stand up for me! Tell me, if this continues, how... how will my family survive?"
"You don't know. People in our village all point and whisper about our family, thinking we've done something shameful. How did we end up like this?"
“Boss, you have to manage your comrades. If this happens again, I…I’ll report them.”
Song Lili looked like she had been driven to the brink of despair, her face showing both bitterness and hopelessness.
Wei Ming's expression softened, and he put on a smile again, though the smile didn't reach his eyes.
"Okay, I understand. I've got the situation in mind. I'll definitely investigate it thoroughly. If what you're saying is true, then I'll make sure they apologize to you," Wei Ming assured him.
Song Lili stood up with satisfaction. "That's good. Then I'll thank you in advance, leader. You're really a great person. You're a true good comrade of the people."
As he spoke, he and Zhang Qinghua walked out, but when they reached the door, he suddenly turned back and raised his voice to say something.
"Boss, remember this, that comrade's name is Chen Hongjun, he's the one who followed Luo Juan, he's the one who promoted me, you must stand up for me."
Wei Ming's face twitched, and he gritted his teeth, saying, "Okay, don't worry, I will definitely give you an explanation."
Song Lili bowed again, "Then I'll have to trouble you, leader. Please remember this."
After giving Zhang Qinghua a thousand and one instructions, Song Lili left. As she passed a few familiar faces, she scoffed inwardly, thinking, "How could she go back on her word?" Of course, she had to keep her promise.
They said they came to report Chen Hongjun, and that's exactly what they came for. I guess the whole Revolutionary Committee knows about this now.
Next, everyone will probably feel insecure.
At this point, if Wei Ming were to investigate, there would be instances of him shifting blame and shirking responsibility.
In a serious situation, it could even escalate into a dogfight, which would not only create a spectacle but also divert attention from Wang Daming, allowing him to escape safely.
After finishing these tasks, Song Lili and Zhang Qinghua went to find Qian Liulin, wondering how things were going with him.
"Wu Yi has already gone to arrest Luo Yuejin, and I've given him the medicine. He'll find a chance to give it to Da Ming, so you can rest assured."
"By the way, how's it going over there?" Qian Liulin wiped his sweat, his expression relaxing considerably.
"The effect should be good, but we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out the answer. It probably won't work tonight," Song Lili said with a smile.
"That's good." Qian Liulin breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright, everything's fine now. You two should go home. It's too late, and your families are probably worried about you."
