Chapter 49 I still feel uneasy

When Song Lili and the other two returned home, it was already the next day. Hongqi Village seemed to have returned to its previous state, as if nothing had happened that day.

Upon opening the door, the first person Song Lili saw was not Song Jianshe, but Wang Daming.

When Wang Daming saw Song Lili, he excitedly stood up and rushed over, "Lili, I heard there was a burglary here, are you alright?"

Before Song Lili could say anything, he added, "I told you to sell all those cabbages to me last time, but you wouldn't listen. Now look what happened! They're all ruined. That's money!"

It feels like I've lost the whole world; it's heartbreaking.

Song Lili's face turned red with anger. "Wang Daming, shut up!"

Don't you know this is her sore spot? Why did you have to come all the way over and rub it in?

"Those vegetables were grown by my mother. I'd be willing to let them be ruined. What's it to you?" Song Lili cursed angrily.

Although her heart was bleeding, she absolutely could not show it in front of Wang Daming.

No one expected Song Lili to suddenly lose her temper. Wang Daming stood there frozen, seemingly not understanding what had happened.

He was just venting, why the big reaction?

Wang Daming had no idea that he had hit Song Lili in her most vulnerable spot; it would be strange if Song Lili didn't retaliate.

Finally, Song Yongren stepped in to ease the awkwardness, saying, "The Ming Dynasty has arrived? Thank you for your concern, we're all fine."

"When did you arrive? Jianshe, why didn't you pour water for Daming? That's so inconsiderate of you."

"Uncle, it's alright, it's alright. I don't drink. It's not that Jianshe didn't pour me water; I just arrived." Wang Daming seemed to realize something and quickly stopped Song Jianshe from going to pour water.

Song Yongren's interruption brought everyone back to normal. Wang Daming looked at Song Lili and said, "Lili, I was just worried about you, not here to blame you."

He thought Song Lili was angry because he had mentioned cabbage at the beginning, and that he only cared about cabbage.

Song Lili rolled her eyes, didn't explain why, but didn't say anything more negative either, and helped Song Yongren into the room.

She knew in her heart that it wasn't Wang Daming's fault, and that what he said was right, but she just felt uncomfortable. Why did he have to come up to her?

This anger could only be directed at him.

Song Lili asked Song Jianshe if the grain had been found, and learned that the grain had been found, but the other items were not so lucky.

The grain was buried underground and thus escaped destruction because it was not seen.

The things in the cart were just thrown away carelessly; they were all smashed by the bandits, and there were very few usable items left.

The most severely damaged item was a large pot in the kitchen, with a large crack in the middle, several pieces missing from the sides, and many dents.

It was truly ruined completely.

The only usable items were probably the chopsticks; only one bowl remained intact, and another had a chip; the rest were all broken.

The clothes were slashed into strips with a knife, the cotton inside the quilt was cut out, and even the handle of the hoe was broken.

Song Lili couldn't help but give those bandits a thumbs up in her heart. How unbalanced must they be to destroy things so thoroughly?

The whole family breathed a sigh of relief when they heard that the food was gone, but when they heard that everything else was also gone, they all frowned in worry.

Song Yongren sighed deeply, feeling that he couldn't go on living like this.

"What are we going to do? It's winter now, and we don't have any blankets. How are we going to get through the winter? And all those other things cost money."

Song Yongren blamed himself inwardly. How could he have gotten into trouble at this critical juncture? This trip to the hospital cost him several yuan again.

The family had finally managed to save some money, but he squandered it all again.

Song Lili, however, didn't think it was a big deal; food was the primary concern. She had money now, but no food coupons. As long as the food was available, nothing else mattered.

She wasn't worried about how she would get through the winter, since she still had a few dollars left!

A few dollars these days is a considerable sum of money, and its purchasing power is still quite strong. Although it won't be very good, at least we could still get by like before.

We'll figure something out after this winter.

She comforted Song Yongren, "Uncle, don't worry, we can just buy more if those things are gone. We still have money at home."

Song Yongren sighed inwardly, thinking that Lili was still too young to understand the hardships of life, and that it was not something that could be bought so easily.

Song Jianshe was also worried and at a loss. Hearing Song Lili speak so easily made him want to scold her.

It's not that easy; you can't just say whatever you want.

Song Lili had already gone to ask Wang Daming, "Wang Daming, I need to buy some things. Why don't you come with me to the supply and marketing cooperative?"

With Wang Daming as the director of the supply and marketing cooperative, it was quite convenient for Song Lili to buy whatever she wanted.

Wang Daming immediately agreed, "Sure, as long as it's not too scarce, the supply and marketing cooperative should have it." He had come with the same intention.

The two hit it off immediately, and Song Lili was ready to go to town with Wang Daming.

"Lili, let's just forget about those things. We still have some left, so we can make do with them," Song Yongren stopped her.

Song Lili asked in surprise, "Four people using only two bowls?" And one of them even has a chip? Or are two people eating, and then the other two take turns eating?

Song Lili simply couldn't imagine such a scene.

But she didn't know that many families lived that kind of life, and her family was still doing well.
