Chapter Ninety-Five: Lü Qiaosheng's Pledge of Allegiance

Now it was Lü Qiaosheng's turn to smile bitterly. He hadn't expected Song Lili to be so unyielding. He was almost about to speak frankly, yet she was still wary.

Finally, he had to take the initiative and ask, "You should know Lü Xiaolan, right?"

"Lü Xiaolan?" The name sounded familiar, as if I had heard it somewhere before.

"Yes, Lü Xiaolan from the Third Brigade. That's my niece. She was almost beaten to death by Luo Weijia. That's why I wanted to join you. Do you believe me now?"

"Oh, that's Lu Xiaolan, the one who stole potatoes and got beaten up."

This reminder made Song Lili realize who Lü Xiaolan really was.

Isn't she one of the two girls that Song Lili saw being brutally beaten by Luo Weijia as soon as she arrived here?

Is that Lü Qiaosheng's niece?

"So what? That's your problem. It has nothing to do with me, so you've come to the wrong person."

Song Lili knew Lü Qiaosheng's purpose, but she still didn't trust him and wouldn't lower her guard just because of a few words from him.

We trust Zhang Qinghua and his team because time has proven them worthy of our trust.

Lü Qiaosheng is not the one.

Even if what Lü Qiaosheng said was very reasonable, Song Lili wouldn't believe it.

Even so, there's still nothing between us, and I won't tell anyone what you said tonight. Goodbye.

Even if what Lü Qiaosheng said is true, so what? She doesn't need someone she doesn't know as an accomplice.

Now, Lü Qiaosheng was left with nothing but helplessness, and this deep helplessness made his expression also turn helpless.

He suddenly laughed. "It seems I underestimated you before. You really aren't the Song Lili I know anymore."

Song Lili's heart tightened, but she still looked at Lü Qiaosheng expressionlessly. "Were we very familiar with each other before?"

The implication is that since we weren't familiar with each other before, is the person you know the real me?

It was obvious that Lü Qiaosheng understood.

"Yes, we're not familiar with each other, but I believe you'll cooperate with me. I think you've seen my sincerity."

“Sincerity? What sincerity?” Song Lili didn’t understand what Lü Qiaosheng meant.

"It's about tonight! This is my pledge of loyalty. I wonder if you're satisfied?"

Now, Song Lili was genuinely surprised and exclaimed, "You arranged all of that tonight?"

Although the words were vague, both of them knew exactly what they were talking about.

Lü Qiaosheng nodded. "Yes, it was my arrangement. I wonder if you are satisfied with my pledge of allegiance?"

Now, Song Lili had to scrutinize Lü Qiaosheng again. Was he telling the truth? Did he really intend to deal with Luo Weijia?

"What? You still don't believe me?" Lu Qiaosheng could tell from Song Lili's expression that he hadn't been trusted yet.

Finally, he had no choice but to reveal his last trump card: "I heard you talking to Zhang Qinghua about dealing with Luo Weijia a while ago."

By this time, there were no more villagers from Hongqi Village on the road, and Lü Qiaosheng stopped hiding it and spoke out directly.

This time, Song Lili had to be on high alert. "What did you say?"

"Don't be nervous. If I wanted to tell anyone, I would have done so already. The reason I haven't is because we have the same goal. Now, do you believe me?"

Song Lili did not answer; she was pondering whether what Lü Qiaosheng said was true.

When did you hear that?

Lu Qiaosheng revealed the time, place, and even their conversation, which finally convinced Song Lili that Lu Qiaosheng truly knew.

"I think you might have misheard me. That wasn't me. Maybe you've mistaken me for someone else."

Although it was confirmed, Song Lili wasn't foolish enough to accept it and give Lü Qiaosheng a handle he could use against her later.

At this moment, Lü Qiaosheng really wanted to tell Song Lili, "Girl, you don't need to be so careful. I never intended to harm you."

But he knew that even if he told her, Song Lili wouldn't believe him. She would only ask, "Do you believe me now? Can I join?"

He couldn't possibly bring down Luo Weijia on his own. Fortunately, just when he was about to give up, he overheard Song Lili and Zhang Qinghua's conversation.

He was overjoyed. He almost ran over to tell them he was willing to help them.

However, his remaining rationality prevented him from acting rashly. After planning today's events, he came to Song Lili to seek cooperation.

Unexpectedly, Song Lili turned out to be so difficult to deal with. Despite his best efforts, he couldn't convince her.

In the end, I, who was clearly in the dominant position, became the passive one.
