Chapter Seventy-Four: The Song Yongli Family

"You can't carry heavy things, otherwise you won't grow tall, your body will break down, and you'll get sick easily."

Song Lili couldn't help but roll her eyes. Not tall? Are you kidding me? What does this have to do with not being tall?

Carrying heavy things is indeed bad for your health, but she is strong, so it's easy for her and not heavy at all.

Therefore, everything Song Yongren said is wrong.

She didn't stop at all, she kept going, hurrying home, she still had things to do.

Otherwise, as long as she stops, Luo Weijia and Xu Youcai will definitely show up again to watch the show, and she has no interest in listening.

She ignored Song Yongren, carried the barley and quickly went down the mountain, knowing that Song Yongren would eventually take those things anyway.

Song Lili's prediction was correct.

Luo Weijia and Xu Youcai are waiting for Song Lili to be unable to carry the load and beg for help, then they can make sarcastic remarks.

But who knew, they actually carried the barley and ran off in a flash, looking as relaxed as ever.

This made the two of them so angry they were practically bursting with rage, but there was nothing they could do but watch Song Lili walk away.

Left behind, Song Yongren could only pick up the tools and tassels that Song Lili had thrown down and chase after her.

Guo Guihua, also carrying tools, followed after them, shouting as she chased, "Lili, stop! Why don't you ask your cousin to carry it for you?"

Song Lili's cousin, Song Jianguo, followed behind her, his hands tucked into his sleeves, walking leisurely.

Behind him, his aunt Zhao Youqin followed with a load of barley on her back, and his cousin Song Xiaohong was also there with a sickle and a stalk of barley on her back.

Grandma Gu, Song Yongli, and Song Jianguo all walked empty-handed.

Song Lili snorted coldly. Ask Song Jianguo for help? Not even in the next life.

Song Jianguo is a complete scoundrel. He does nothing productive and just plunders his family to satisfy his own desires. It's a miracle he can even get out of bed.

Song Lili had never considered asking him for help.

Before she could even say anything, Song Jianguo became unhappy. "I don't care. That's Song Lili's family's property. Why should I carry it?"

"Your uncle's leg just healed and he can't carry heavy things yet, that's why he asked you for help. You're family, after all," someone nearby said.

“Who’s family with them? They are the bastards, we are us. There are no people like them in my family.”

This statement seems to directly deny that the Song Yongren family and the Song Yongli family are of the same lineage.

Song Jianguo's words not only stunned the people who were going home with him, but even Song Yongren stared at Song Jianguo in shock.

"Jianguo, what nonsense are you talking about? How can we not be family?"

If this gets out, what a mess it would be!

Song Yongren was so anxious that he was sweating profusely. He looked at Song Yongli and said, "Brother, tell me about Jianguo. Why are you talking nonsense?"

Now, Madam Gu was displeased. "Jianguo is right. You have already separated your families. You are no longer one family. Do your own things and don't drag others into it."

“Mother…” Song Yongren seemed to be quite shocked.

Song Jianguo gloated from the side, "See, I was right. We're not family. Why should people like them, who have no ability, need help from others?"

"If you're not capable, don't talk big. Anyone can brag. If you're so capable, then do what you say."

Song Jianguo had disliked Song Lili for a while, and now that he had the chance, he couldn't resist making fun of her.

But Song Lili didn't want to listen.

She's not a masochist who's going to kick anyone who comes along, and she has to put up with it. Why should she?

She turned around abruptly and said, "Shut up! Did I ask you for help? You think too highly of yourself. I wouldn't even look at you."

"Even if you want to help, you need my permission, understand? So don't go around spouting nonsense. Get as far away from me as possible. I feel disgusted just looking at you."

Song Lili was telling the truth. What she hated most was people who had no skills but acted like big shots.

In her view, one's position is determined by the extent of one's abilities and the amount of work one can accomplish.

Only when everyone is in their proper place can the world have order.

Song Jianguo is just here to waste other people's resources.

Therefore, he was spoken to very rudely: "So, get out of here."

This really stirred up a hornet's nest. Song Yongli and Madam Gu were both furious, their faces turning ashen. They pointed at Song Lili, and Madam Gu was the first to lash out.

"You little whore, what did you say? How dare you talk about my grandson like that? You're just a worthless brat, a good-for-nothing, and you dare to curse people?"

Gu's fingers were almost poking Song Lili's nose. If Song Lili hadn't been carrying barley on her back, Gu's fingers might have been broken off by now.

She had no affection for them.

"Why can't I scold him? Being self-righteous comes with consequences. I don't need his help, so don't flatter yourself."

After saying this coldly, Song Lili carried the barley away, not wanting to say anything more.

Ultimately, this is a family matter for the Song family, and she has no interest in putting on a show for everyone.

Besides, she had something on her back, which, although not heavy, was still weighing her down and making her uncomfortable.

She left, and Song Yongren became the scapegoat. Gu pointed at Song Yongren and said, "You unfilial son! Look at what kind of person you raised! Is this how you talk to your elders?"

Song Yongren was also heartbroken. His nephew had spoken ill of him and his daughter, but he couldn't refute his mother and could only lower his head and endure the scolding.

His behavior made Madam Gu even more displeased. "Are you mute? When you get back, give her a good talking-to. How dare she talk back to her elders? She's got guts."
