Chapter Seventy-Six: People from the Town Have Arrived

When it was the young man's turn to introduce himself, he nodded and said, "Thank you all for your hard work today."

Everyone quickly replied, "It's not hard work, it's all what we should do."

Qian Liulin smiled and said, "Little Sun, introduce me to everyone. This is my first time out here, and I don't know anyone yet."

Xiao Sun, the first young man to speak, immediately pointed at Li Weiguo and was about to speak when Luo Weijia beat him to it.

"Hello Inspector Qian, I am Luo Weijia, the village head of Hongqi Village." Then, pointing to the people around him, he introduced them one by one: "This is Li Weiguo, the village party secretary, and this is Xu Youcai, the accountant. They are the captains of the five production brigades."

Luo Weijia appeared confident and composed, his eyes seemingly only making polite eye contact, but he was constantly sizing up Qian Liulin.

This is the first time I've met this person; I need to observe them carefully.

When Luo Weijia introduced Xu Youcai, Qian Liulin's gaze lingered on Xu Youcai for a few seconds before he left as if nothing had happened.

He did it so subtly that no one else noticed.

Qian Liulin thought to himself. So this is the person Wang Dazhi's friend is going to mess with this time. He doesn't seem like a good person; his eyes are warped.

However, he only thought these things in his mind and didn't show anything on his face. He greeted everyone with a perfect smile.

This tedious small talk lasted for more than ten minutes. Only after everyone had gotten to know each other did they start walking into Hongqi Village.

Li Weiguo stood to Qian Liulin's left, while Luo Weijia stood to his right.

Qian Liulin kept looking around, gathering the information he wanted.

Luo Weijia was observing Qian Liulin when he saw him looking at the fields. He couldn't help but smile and ask, "Inspector Qian, are you here to inspect the fields?"

This is both an attempt to get closer to someone and a test.

In the past, leaders would come to inspect the harvest. But they didn't come these past few days because the harvest wasn't good. I didn't expect them to come this year.

"Yes, the mayor held a meeting yesterday and said he wanted to check how the crops were growing in the fields and that we must do a good job in production to achieve a bumper harvest."

"Today's harvest is sure to be bountiful. The crops are growing well, there's been plenty of rain, and everyone has taken good care of them. It will definitely be better than last year."

Luo Weijia echoed the sentiment in a slightly exaggerated way, also taking the opportunity to flatter the other side.

"That's great, then everyone won't go hungry anymore," Qian Liulin replied with a smile.

"Yes, yes, you are such a good leader, always caring about the people." But in his heart, he scoffed.

Pshaw, all that pretense, it's just for show.

Ignoring Luo Weijia's somewhat radiant smile, Qian Liulin said to Li Weiguo, "Secretary Li, besides checking the fields this time, the town mayor also instructed us to check other aspects to see if anyone has any difficulties."

Li Weiguo listened attentively. Then, understanding dawned on him, "Okay. I will definitely cooperate with your work and tell you everything I know."

"Then thank you very much, Secretary Li," Qian Liulin said sincerely.

"Of course," Li Weiguo said, and then fell silent.

He wasn't the type to fawn or flatter. He would execute any instructions given by his superiors perfectly, but he wasn't good at pandering to them.

Therefore, he was not as popular as Luo Weijia in Hongqi Village.

However, Qian Liulin preferred people like Li Weiguo, believing that such people were the ones who got things done.

People like Luo Weijia, with mediocre abilities, are fond of scheming and flattery, and thus cannot be given important responsibilities.

So, after his brief conversation with Li Weiguo, he stopped paying attention to Luo Weijia and focused on everything in Hongqi Village.

After entering the back of the stage, which is the village's warehouse and also the office of the village officials, Qian Liulin began to ask about the affairs of Hongqi Village.

Of the people from Hongqi Village, only Li Weiguo and Luo Weijia were sitting with Qian Liulin and the others; the rest of the people were standing.

Qian Liulin asked very detailed questions, and Li Weiguo answered very seriously, without showing any impatience.

Moreover, Li Weiguo's answers were very detailed, and he even noticed the smallest details, which gave Qian Liulin a deeper understanding of Hongqi Village.

An hour later, after drinking several glasses of water, Qian Liulin finally finished asking his questions. He turned his head and stretched his neck, which had become somewhat stiff.

He said, seemingly without thinking, "This is Accountant Xu from our village, right? I heard being an accountant is very hard work. You must be very tired."

Xu Youcai was surprised that Qian Liulin would suddenly mention him. He looked up, feeling flattered and overjoyed.

"Not at all, not at all. It's not hard work at all. It's all for the construction of our motherland. No matter how hard it is, it's worth it."

Xu Youcai wore a smug smile, which was also evident in his words.

After he finished speaking, several people scoffed inwardly. Hard work? Damn it, Xu Youcai was the one who had it the easiest.
