Chapter Sixty-Five: I Have a Condition

More than ten days have passed in the busy work, and Song Lili's cabbages are almost ready for harvest.

Before she could even go to find Wang Daming, he came to her door on his own.

Wang Daming knew that Song Lili and the others were usually busy, and there would definitely be no one at home if they came looking for them, so he deliberately waited until a rainy day to come.

When he arrived, Song Lili's entire family was sitting at home. Song Yongren was repairing farm tools, and Song Jianshe was helping by handing things to him.

Song Lili and Song Fang watched from the side, since they didn't need her anyway. However, whether Song Lili's thoughts were on the matter was anyone's guess.

"Uncle Song, are you home?" Wang Daming called from outside.

Song Lili didn't hear at all. She was thinking to herself that the cabbage was almost fully grown, and she should also carry out her plan.

If that's the case, should she try to win over Wang Daming beforehand?

Then, Song Jianshe hit him on the knee with a piece of wood.

"Brother, what are you doing? I didn't do anything to you, did I?"

Song Jianshe rolled his eyes at her. "Someone outside is calling. Go out and see. I don't know what you're thinking about all day long. You're so absent-minded."

Only then did Song Lili realize why Song Jianshe had hit her.

As he walked out, he wondered, "Who is it? Coming in this weather, they really don't turn back no matter what."

When I went outside, lo and behold, it was Wang Daming! Speak of the devil and he appears! I had just been talking about him, and he was already at my doorstep.

"Wang Daming, you're here? Come in quickly." Song Lili warmly welcomed Wang Daming in.

Wang Daming, carrying several cans of food, looked at Song Lili with a mixture of surprise and flattery.

This was the first time he had received such a warm welcome, and he was quite unaccustomed to it.

Song Lili secretly rolled her eyes. If you weren't useful, I wouldn't be so obsequious, okay?

"Why are you here? Is there something you need?" Otherwise, this isn't the time for a casual visit.

Wang Daming handed the can of food to Song Lili, greeted Song Yongren and the others, and then said, "Yes, something's up."

Song Lili made Wang Daming sit on the only bench in the house with movable legs and poured him a large bowl of water.

"Speak, what is it?" Since you wouldn't come here without a reason, then I won't be polite in a moment.

Both of them were eyeing the other person, yet they unexpectedly did the same thing.

They both thought that since they were asking for a favor, they had to be polite, so the atmosphere between them was better than ever before.

"Lili, is your food almost ready?" That was exactly what Wang Daming came for. These past few days, he had been bombarded with phone calls from his cousin.

Song Lili suddenly realized that this was why he had come.

"Yes, it's been a month. We can harvest it in a few more days." The weather is warmer now than in winter, so the harvest cycle is a few days shorter.

"Then... I'll come over in a few days?" Wang Daming was very unsure of Song Lili's thoughts.

Theoretically speaking, if Song Lili wants to sell her cabbages, the only place is the supply and marketing cooperative in town.

But who knows what Song Lili is really thinking? What if she suddenly decides not to sell the food herself? There's nothing he can do about it.

Although Song Lili was a farm girl, he couldn't figure her out.

Song Lili nodded, "Okay, come in a few days. But this time I have a condition: if you don't agree, there's no point in talking."

Wang Daming's smile, which hadn't even had a chance to bloom, froze on his face, and he couldn't help but groan inwardly.

Where does this old lady get so many crazy ideas? Can't she just let him harvest vegetables normally without any surprises?

All I could do was helplessly say, "What are your conditions? Just tell me."

He didn't agree immediately, knowing his own limitations and not daring to make a promise lightly.

"Do you know anyone in your town's commune? Preferably someone who's involved in finances."

"What are you going to do?" Wang Daming asked directly, getting straight to the point.

"I might need his help." She couldn't say for sure, seemingly afraid that Wang Daming wouldn't agree, so she added.

"Don't worry, it's definitely not a bad thing, and it won't be detrimental to him. It might even be helpful to him."

Wang Daming was practically cursing Song Lili's ancestors to the heavens in his mind. What difference did it make whether you said anything or not? Ugh…

All I could say, feeling frustrated, was, "Lili, this..."

Helpless, Song Lili realized that she couldn't get Wang Daming to take action without saying something, so she could only stand up and say, "Let's go to the field and check on the cabbages."

Wang Daming glanced at Song Lili, noticing her constant winks, and knew it was just an excuse; she didn't want Song Yongren and Song Jianshe to hear.

She obediently stood up, jokingly saying, "Okay, I also want to know what she looks like. If she's not good, I'll have to lower the price."

"Don't worry, I've taken great care of it, how could it not be good? The quality is guaranteed."

The two of them went out in the drizzle. After walking a little further away, Song Lili began, "There are people in the village who don't like me and are always picking on me. I'm thinking of teaching them a lesson."

"Is this person a village official?" Wang Daming asked, but his tone was one of certainty.

"Yes," Song Lili said without hiding it; once she said that last sentence, she couldn't hide it anymore.

Otherwise, an ordinary person wouldn't ask the town commune for help.

Wang Daming lowered his head and remained silent for a long time. Song Lili was not in a hurry and waited quietly for him to speak.

After a long while, Wang Daming said, "I think I know a few people. If all else fails, I'll ask the town mayor for help."
