“Okay, we don’t have anything to do today anyway, and digging for wild vegetables is a good idea. Sister Yangmei, wait a moment, I’ll grab a basket, and then we’ll go.”
Song Lili also felt that staying at home would be boring, so going outside for a walk would be nice.
After the two went out, Yang Mei pulled Song Lili to her house. "Lili, I also need to get a basket. Come in and wait for me."
Yang Weimin and Guo Guihua were both at Yangmei's house. They came to greet Song Lili when she arrived.
Yang Weimin smiled broadly, but Guo Guihua seemed a little uncomfortable, her smile appearing somewhat stiff as she looked at Song Lili.
Song Lili seemed oblivious to Guo Guihua's discomfort, and greeted him with a smile, "Uncle, Aunt."
"Lili's here? Come in quickly, don't get wet, come in right away." Yang Weimin kept ushering Song Lili into the house.
Guo Guihua also said, "Yes, come in first. Meimei is a bit slower; it will take her a while to finish."
Song Lili obediently followed her inside. She knew that Yang Mei was indeed slow at doing things.
"Lili, I haven't thanked you yet for running away from the thief. If it weren't for your quick thinking, we probably wouldn't have been able to keep the grain."
Even now, when Yang Weimin thinks back to that time, he still feels a chill of fear. He is always grateful that he didn't treat Song Lili like a child and didn't take her words to heart.
Fortunately, he listened to Lili's advice; otherwise, the whole family would probably have gone hungry for a year.
Therefore, he was still very grateful to Song Lili, but after glancing at Guo Guihua, he sighed.
“Lili, your aunt was wrong before. I apologize on her behalf. She only spoke to you like that because she was worried about me. Don’t take it to heart.”
“Your aunt isn’t blaming you, she’s just anxious. She’s wrong, I’ve already criticized her, and she knows she was wrong.”
When Guo Guihua heard Yang Weimin mention this, her aunt froze for a moment, then smiled, with a hint of ingratiation.
"Yes, Lili, Auntie was just anxious at the time, and what she said wasn't true. Don't take it seriously. I was just being delusional, it was me...it was me..."
Song Lili interrupted her, "Auntie, it's okay, I understand you. You're just worried. I won't blame you."
I'm just feeling a little uncomfortable.
However, because of Yang Mei, she wouldn't blame Guo Guihua, but a trace of it still remained in her heart.
She is not someone who forgives the past. She will always remember those who treat her badly, and even if she doesn't retaliate, she will distance herself from them.
From now on, just treat Guo Guihua as an ordinary elder.
"If I were in your shoes, I probably would have said the same thing. I understand."
Yang Weimin and Guo Guihua were both very happy to hear this. Guo Guihua seemed to have become the aunt that Song Lili used to know again.
She is gentle and has a very approachable quality.
"That's good, that's good, I'll make sure you take it to heart."
"My aunt regretted it after that day and has been wanting to talk to you about it, but you have family matters to attend to, so she couldn't find you."
"I just happened to see you today, so I'd like to apologize to you."
Yang Weimin chimed in, "Yes, yes, your aunt knows she was wrong. From now on, we're all family."
Song Lili smiled and didn't take it to heart.
Will you really treat her as family?
If such a thing were to happen again, Song Lili believes that Guo Guihua would still do the same thing.
"We're family" is just a polite way of saying things; just listen to it and don't take it to heart.
The only person she cared about from beginning to end was Yangmei.
He was kind to Guo Guihua because of Yang Mei, and he distanced himself from her because of Yang Mei.
Just as the three of them were about to look at each other awkwardly, Yangmei came out with a basket.
"Lili, let's go."
Song Lili said very politely, "Uncle, Aunt, then Yang Mei and I will be leaving now."
"Okay, okay, okay."
After leaving home, Yang Mei felt embarrassed and said, "Lili, my mother was wrong last time, and I told her off. Please don't be angry."
Song Lili laughed. Why was everyone apologizing to her today? Was it because of something that happened several months ago?
“Sister Yangmei, I’m not angry. I understand Auntie. I know she was just worried. Auntie knows she was wrong, so please don’t apologize anymore.”
Yang Mei didn't do this, so her apology is useless.
Yang Mei was simple-minded, and when she heard Song Lili say that, she was immediately happy. "That's really great. You don't know, because of what my mother did, I didn't dare to go to you."
"I'm afraid you'll get angry and ignore me. I haven't had anyone with me for the past few months, and it's been so tough."
Song Lili found it amusing. "Am I really that kind of person who gets angry so easily?"
Yang Mei stuck out her tongue shyly, "Of course not, but I was just afraid you'd get angry."
Song Lili smiled, a very happy smile. Yang Mei was worried because she cared.
Otherwise, she wouldn't be so anxious and wouldn't dare to go out and play with anyone.
"Sister Yangmei, where are we going to dig for wild vegetables?" Song Lili changed the subject, not wanting to talk about this.
She has her own standards, and she is tolerant of those she cares about, but others don't have that right.
“Let’s go find Qinghua and the others. He said a few days ago that he would take me up the mountain,” Yang Mei said, a shy smile unconsciously appearing on her face.
Song Lili realized, "Oh, it's Daqing! He seems to know how to please girls."
"Sister Yangmei, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to go and be all lovey-dovey with you two, would it?" Being a third wheel would also be awkward.
