Chapters 567: Meeting an Old Friend (2) (shuhaige.net)

Of all these people, Zhang Qingguo must be the happiest. How could he not be happy to see his wife and children?

Finally, we don't have to be separated by distance anymore.

They figured Zhang Shengtian and the others should have arrived by now, so Zhang Qingguo and Zhang Qinghua took turns waiting at the train station, hoping to run into them.

Even so, they still didn't see Zhang Shengtian and the others.

As it grew dark, Song Lili became increasingly worried. "Could something have happened on the road? Why haven't we seen anyone yet?"

Even if the train is delayed, it should have arrived by now, but why is there still no sign of it?

Zhang Qinghua was also worried, but he couldn't show it. He could only comfort him, saying, "Wait a little longer, maybe something will delay you."

"Okay, let's go to the train station again tomorrow and wait. If we still don't hear anything by tomorrow, we'll think of other ways."

Zhang Shengtian was a steady person, so although Zhang Qinghua was worried, he was not anxious.

Song Lili could only nod; what else could she do?

Without a phone, I can't get in touch with anyone, so I can only wait anxiously.

The next day, the two brothers skipped class and went straight to the train station, intending to spend the whole day waiting there.

Song Lili didn't go with them; she still had to look after her two children.

After dropping Xiao Chen off at school, he then took Xiao Hui to school as well.

However, during class, he was always distracted, constantly wondering if Zhang Qinghua and the others had waited for him.

After class in the afternoon, she couldn't wait to take Xiao Hui out of the school gate, wanting to hurry home and see if Zhang Shengtian and the others had arrived yet.

She was in a hurry, focused only on walking, and didn't even look around.

She turned around in confusion when she heard someone shout "Lili, Lili..." Was someone calling her?

Turning around, I saw Zhang Shengtian's weathered face, smiling brightly at me.

"Big Brother?" Song Lili was shocked and quickly ran over. "What are you doing here?" Shouldn't you be at home?

I always gave them my address when I wrote to them before.

"Hey, the alleys in this capital are just too winding. We searched for ages but couldn't find the place, so we thought we'd wait for you at the school gate."

At least the capital university was much easier to find than where they lived.

Song Lili put Xiao Hui down and saw Lin Xue standing not far away.

"Sister-in-law..." Lin Xue called out happily.

"Let's go home first." Song Lili helped with the luggage, then asked with concern, "When did you arrive?"

"I arrived in the afternoon, but the school wouldn't let us in. They asked us which class we were in, but how was I supposed to know? So I could only wait for you here."

"Thank goodness, I didn't misread it, otherwise I don't know what I would have done tonight," Zhang Shengtian said with a smile.

"Then hurry home." They probably didn't eat lunch, so hurry back and cook, and also let Zhang Qinghua and the others know, otherwise they'll worry.

When they got home, Zhang Qinghua and his brother hadn't returned yet. Song Lili didn't care anymore and went to the kitchen to cook so that everyone could eat their fill.

"Please sit down, I'll go make you something to eat." These two definitely don't want to spend money, and they must be hungry.

"Okay. Go ahead." Zhang Shengtian waved his hand, because he was really hungry.

They got off the bus early in the morning. Because they had brought their child and had spent the night with them, they bought some steamed buns outside to eat.

I thought I'd eat when I got there, but little did I know, I found out the place, but got lost in the alleys and couldn't find it even after walking for a long time.

I want to ask people, but I can't get a clear answer because everyone gives me a different perspective.

Finally, as noon approached, they still hadn't found it. Zhang Shengcai then decided to stake out the university.

The two leftover steamed buns from the morning were given to Xiao Zhe, and the two adults went hungry all day.

So right now my mouth is dry and my stomach is growling with hunger.

Song Lili knew them, so of course she knew.

I didn't care about any fancy recipes; I just made the quickest one: a pot of noodles.

She put in some greens and cracked in a few eggs, thinking she'd eat a bite first to tide her over before cooking the rest of the meal.

Things happened so suddenly that she forgot to pick Xiao Chen up from school. She only remembered when she saw Xiao Chen in the yard while carrying noodles.

"You came back by yourself?" Song Lili looked at Xiao Chen in surprise.

Xiao Chen nodded, "Yes, I came back by myself when I saw you weren't here."

He knew that his grandfather was coming in the next few days, and thinking that his parents might forget about him when his grandfather arrived, he came back on his own.

When she returned, she actually saw her grandfather in the yard. Before she could even say hello, Song Lili came out.

"Now that you're back, hurry up and put your schoolbag down, then eat with your grandpa and the others." The child must be hungry too.

Xiao Chen put down her schoolbag before coming out to have a good time with Zhang Shengtian.

After watching them eat, Song Lili went into the kitchen to prepare dinner.

Today, no one had time to go to the market or buy groceries, so Song Lili cooked a few dishes using what she had at home.

A hot and sour shredded potato, stir-fried bamboo shoots with pork, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, eggplant with garlic, and a cucumber salad—each dish was very generous in portion size.

After preparing the meal, Song Lili was getting a little anxious as the Zhang brothers had not yet returned. Were they planning to wait at the train station overnight?

I was thinking of going to look for it, but I was also afraid of missing out.

We can only ignore it.

"Big Brother, let's eat first. Qinghua and Qingguo went to the train station to wait for you. They should be back soon."

I'm afraid these two brothers might have lost their minds and actually wait at the train station all night.

"Wait for us?" Zhang Shengtian asked in surprise, seemingly not expecting it.

“We called the village and told them that you and Lin Xue have come to the capital. They estimate you will arrive in the next day or two, so we went to the train station to check.”

But who knew we'd still miss out.

"So that's how it is." Zhang Shengtian finally understood, but he didn't realize how worried they had been since yesterday. If there was still no news by today, they would have gone completely mad.

"Then let's eat first and save some for the other two," Zhang Shengtian said, picking up his chopsticks and starting to eat.

That pot of noodles from earlier... I just ate it to fill my stomach; I'm still hungry.

Song Lili didn't say anything more and told Lin Xue and Zhang Shengtian to eat quickly.

After they finished eating, thinking that they must be exhausted after traveling for several days, I tidied them up and told them to go and rest.

Lin Xue went directly to Zhang Qingguo's room, while Zhang Shengtian went to the room reserved for Wang Mei and Fan Lijuan and changed the bed sheets and duvet covers.

Thinking about it, it seems I need to clean out a few other rooms too, otherwise we won't have enough room for the weekends.

Let's leave it at that for today. Everyone's tired and we don't have time to clean up. We'll do it tomorrow.

Zhang Shengtian and his brother went to rest, and Song Lili sat in the yard waiting for Zhang Qinghua and his brother to return. The two children were playing in the yard.
