Chapter 104

Midway through, Chu Hong took the manuscript and went outside.

Li Mei, who was standing next to her, glanced at it and said with a hint of displeasure, "College students are just different. They can write such good articles."

"Sister Mei, I think people with more work experience write more substantial articles. You should write one next time you have the chance."

Hearing Su Yu's words, Li Mei immediately felt that she had found someone she could talk to, and said, "That's right, you and I, back when I was in the Women's Federation, I was the one who wrote the speeches for our director."

"Sister Mei, so you came from the Municipal Women's Federation? Do you know Director Xiao?"

"Yes, of course I know him." Li Mei was surprised that Su Yu knew Director Xiao. "You know him too?"

"Yes, Director Xiao is such a warm and down-to-earth leader, and she's very approachable. No wonder I thought you had a similar temperament to Director Xiao when I first saw you. So you used to work for her."

"You're right, Director Xiao is a really good leader. She's the one who recommended me for this job."

Li Mei was preparing more when Director Zhou walked in, his hands behind his back, looking quite serious.

Without speaking to anyone else, he went straight to Liu Lei and asked him to prepare the meeting room. The municipal leaders were going to have a meeting later, and they needed to prepare the necessary items for the meeting.

After giving his explanation, he went out again.

Su Yu said, "Sister Mei, I think Director Zhou seems to be in a bad mood. You're a veteran comrade, you must know why."

"Shh, it sounds like it's a family issue. It's a mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationship." Li Mei finished speaking and continued working with her head down.

Su Yu's eyes lit up, and she silently noted it down; this was a breakthrough.

In the corridor outside, Chu Hong was handing in a manuscript to Secretary Shi, and the two seemed to be discussing issues while holding the manuscript.

“Brother-in-law, the new Su Yu in our office must have a good relationship with Secretary Song. She’s on his side. I saw them having dinner together today, and I’ve seen them a few times before.”

Secretary Shi said while smoking, "This guy surnamed Song is quite capable, managing to get his own people in here. I wonder, Mayor Qiu is a vice mayor, how could he possibly manage a factory?"

"That's right, I just can't figure it out. I'm a college graduate, after all. With your education and age, how did you end up here?"

Upon hearing Chu Hong's words, Secretary Shi immediately recalled Secretary Song's earlier remarks, though he knew they were deliberately meant to provoke him. But hearing Chu Hong bring up the topic of academic qualifications still made him feel uneasy.

He only has a high school diploma.

"Brother-in-law, shouldn't we do something?" Chu Hong offered suggestions. The Chu family was all in education, and no one worked there. Her only support was her brother-in-law. Only if her brother-in-law did well would her future be brighter.

Don't let her high level of education fool you; there are plenty of college graduates working in government agencies. Almost every year, all the university graduates end up there. If it weren't for her brother-in-law, she wouldn't have had the opportunity to do anything useful.

We can let go of the others, but if Su Yu is really someone on Secretary Song's side, then she'll be her competitor in the future, so we need to be careful.

Secretary Shi was silent for a moment, thought carefully, and then said, "Go back and find out what she's weak in. We'll discuss how to handle it then."

Chu Hong nodded.

Secretary Shi then took the manuscript and went into the office.

After returning to her office, Chu Hong warmly approached Su Yu again.

"Comrade Su Yu, as you look at these materials today, have you noticed any difficulties? If you encounter any difficulties, please don't hesitate to ask.

Su Yu smiled and said, "We've only just arrived, so we haven't encountered any difficulties yet."

"Oh, so what kind of work did you mainly do before? Is there any job you're not good at? I'd like to help you with that. Don't get me wrong, I just think you come from a factory and might not be familiar with the work here, so I want to help you."

Su Yu said with a headache, "This is really difficult. When I worked in the group before, I did a lot of miscellaneous things. I was able to do them well mainly because I was careful. It's not good to know exactly what I know and what I don't know."

Hearing Su Yu's words, Chu Hong felt a little more at ease. If that's the case, then there's definitely a lot she doesn't know; she can only do odd jobs. These are mainly things that require a good work attitude and attention to detail to do well.

"Okay, feel free to contact me if you encounter any difficulties later." He then returned to his seat.

Li Mei whispered in Su Yu's ear, "Did you two know each other before?"

Su Yu shook her head, then wrote on the paper, "I don't know why they're so enthusiastic towards me. My colleagues in the department are really warm and welcoming."

"..." Li Mei smiled without saying a word.

After get off work in the afternoon, Su Yu packed her things and left with everyone else. When she first arrived at the office, she didn't intend to show how much she loved her job, which would make the other older colleagues feel uncomfortable.

When we arrived at the main gate, we saw Su Zhi.

"Sis, time to get off work."

Su Yu got on the bike and said, "Ride slowly."

"Okay."

Halfway there, Su Yu saw Secretary Song by the roadside. The bicycle was parked on the side, and he was leaning against a big tree by the roadside with his arms crossed.

"Sister, it's Secretary Song. Secretary Song looks so manly," Su Zhigao thought to himself.

"..." This is just pretense.

"Zhi, what a coincidence." Secretary Song greeted Su Zhi with a smile, then took out a bag of sunflower seeds from her pocket. "Go eat some sunflower seeds, your sister and I have something to discuss."

Su Zhi: "..."

Su Yu said, "Zhi, you go ahead and wait for me. Secretary Song and I will come over later."
