Director Zhou was quite happy to have gotten this job.
If this matter had been arranged by the city, he would have taken care of it long ago. But since it was someone brought over from the province, he couldn't easily take care of it.
Now Secretary Qiu has asked him to talk to Mayor Chen about this matter. That way, he can bring it up.
After all, he didn't like the secretariat he was in charge of being in such a chaotic state.
After finishing his business, Secretary Song rode his bicycle to find his girlfriend.
When I arrived at the entrance of the Antelope Cinema, I saw my partner holding a book, leaning against the wall, and I couldn't help but smile.
I stopped my bike and ran over. "How long have you been here?"
Su Yu looked up, saw him arrive, and smiled, saying, "Just arrived, how's it going on your end?"
"It's all taken care of." Secretary Song grinned. He felt that his partner was just so likable. Even work-related matters with her didn't feel boring.
So this is what it feels like to be a revolutionary comrade-in-arms.
He boldly reached out and took Su Yu's hand, "Let's go inside and watch a movie."
"Okay." Su Yu put the book in her bag and didn't mention work again. This matter was settled at this point.
After all, we don't have a direct connection, so there's no need to rush. There's no need to keep watching. If it works out, great. If not, we'll find another opportunity next time.
The movie theater was crowded because it was a Sunday holiday.
When I went in, the movie had already started, and it was completely dark.
Secretary Song knew that Su Yu didn't like snacks, but she did like fruit. So she took an apple out of her bag and put it in Su Yu's mouth.
Su Yu opened her mouth and took a bite, making a crisp crunching sound.
This pure, unpolluted fruit has a sweet and sour taste; it's delicious.
He took a couple of bites, then noticed that Secretary Song hadn't eaten. He picked up the apple and stuffed it to Secretary Song's side.
Secretary Song was taken aback. She asked in a low voice, "You don't mind?"
"Eat!" We've already kissed, what's there to complain about?
Secretary Song took a bite. Then she let Su Yu eat some.
The two of them ate the apple clean in no time, taking turns eating it.
Secretary Song took out a handkerchief and wiped her hands. As he wiped them, taking advantage of the darkness and the fact that no one was paying attention, he picked it up, placed it on the edge of his hand, and kissed it.
Su Yu turned to look at him. Secretary Song obediently continued wiping his hands, and when he put his hands back, he stammered, "Discipline me as you see fit."
"Dream on!" Su Yu laughed and pinched his arm. Then she continued watching the movie with her lips pursed.
Secretary Song's dream shattered, and she looked at the movie screen with disappointment.
Suddenly, someone grabbed my hand, which was resting to the side, and intertwined their fingers. Their fingers were clasped together.
He quickly shook hands back, watching the movie with a satisfied expression. Yet, a touch of melancholy lingered in his heart. He wondered how long this kind of life could last.
After all, he has a partner now, so he has to work harder than before. He'll be going to work in the lower levels for the next two years to gain experience.
He glanced at Su Yu's profile; in the darkness, he could only make out a blurry outline. He couldn't help but grip her hand even tighter.
Su Yu was going back to school that evening, so after watching the movie, the two ate a bowl of noodles outside, and then Secretary Song escorted Su Yu back to school.
As soon as the two arrived at the door, they saw a car drive out.
Looking at the license plate, Secretary Song knew whose car it was. She thought it was Vice Mayor Xu coming on business, but because the car was not moving fast at the gate, the two of them glanced at the window and saw Vice Mayor Xu's wife sitting inside.
Su Yu asked in surprise, "Why did she come to the school? There's no need to be so high-profile when dropping off your daughter."
Secretary Song smiled and said, "Whatever the reason, it's not a good thing."
Su Yu nodded.
When Su Yu returned to the dormitory, she took a special look at Xu Lili and noticed a hint of confidence in her eyes and brows. It was as if she was quite certain of something.
It wasn't until the second day when she went to the student council meeting and saw Xu Lili there that she knew what it was about.
Xu Lili also saw Su Yu, but she didn't greet Su Yu. The two glanced at each other and then pretended not to know each other.
During the meeting, Ms. Jin announced that there would be an election for student council president this week, and asked interested student council members to register in advance and prepare their speeches.
Everyone quickly found Teacher Jin and signed up to participate in the election. Su Yu discovered that Xu Lili had also signed up.
After the meeting, Su Yu and Zhu Yu walked together.
"A new member has arrived?"
“Yes, it was recommended by Teacher Jin,” Zhu Yusheng said. “I had no idea who he was.”
Su Yu laughed and said, "They're from our dorm. I hadn't heard anything about it before, so I found it strange."
Zhu Yu asked in surprise, "You guys in the dorm, how come you didn't hear the news?"
Su Yu smiled, "Not very familiar." She found it amusing inwardly. Vice Mayor Xu's family really spoils their daughter. Even for a single student council spot, she had to pull strings.
So, it's not very sincere of them to introduce jobs to Mayor Chen's relatives.
After all, some things lose their value if you do them too often. For example, relationships become cheap if you use them too much.
In the mayor's office, Mayor Chen was banging on the table with Director Zhou.
To be precise, it was an outlet for venting pent-up anger.
“Slander, this is slander! I know nothing about this. If you don’t believe me, go and bring my wife here for a confrontation. My wife…” Mayor Chen stopped there.
If he were to testify, his wife wouldn't really be able to vouch for him. After all, they're a married couple; who would believe her?
Director Zhou said, "Mayor Chen, please don't get agitated. Secretary Qiu sent me here privately because he trusts you. Otherwise, this matter would have blown up long ago. I'm just here to give you a heads-up."
