Secretary Song said with a blank face, "It's no coincidence that I ran into you here; I work here anyway." She then gave Su Yu's hat a disdainful look. "What do you want from me?"
Su Yu smiled and said, "Secretary Song, I didn't come to see you. I came with our leader to give a work report. Chairman Sun went to the trade union office, and there are too many people in the office, so I didn't want to disturb them. I just waited outside and took a walk. You know, I haven't seen much of the world, and it's rare for me to come to a place like the municipal party committee. I'm quite curious about it."
"..."
"He really hasn't seen much of the world." Secretary Song nodded.
Then he took another sip of tea, picked up the teacup, and went downstairs. This wasn't the place to talk.
Seeing this, Su Yu quickly followed.
Two people walked down to the courtyard. Secretary Song held a teacup and admired the snow scene. "The snow has stopped, and people's lives are getting better."
"Secretary Song, you really are a considerate person. You care about the lives of us ordinary people. To be honest, these past few snowy days, my feet have been freezing to death every time I go to and from get off work. I just wish I could ride a bicycle."
Secretary Song glanced at her, signaling her to continue.
Su Yu smiled and said, "I'm not in good health, and my feet get frostbite every winter. It used to be really tough for me. But this year I've been exceptionally strong, and I've endured it no matter how difficult it was. Because I know that hope is just ahead, and Secretary Song will help me get a bicycle. Once I buy a bicycle, I'll get better. Secretary Song, thank you for giving me hope."
Secretary Song glanced down at her feet, which were clad in cotton boots.
"A bicycle? I've been too busy with work lately..." so I haven't gone to buy one yet...
Before he could finish, Su Yu said, "Secretary Song, you don't need to. I understand you. Really. Actually, after thinking about it, how could Secretary Song possibly have bought a bicycle? It's such a hard thing to buy, and I actually asked Secretary Song to buy it for me, causing him so much trouble. Secretary Song must have acted on impulse, how could I take it seriously? Just because Secretary Song is the secretary of a municipal party committee leader doesn't mean he has to keep his word. That kind of behavior is wrong, it's moral blackmail. So, Secretary Song, I understand you."
Secretary Song glanced at her silently.
Seeing the sincerity in her eyes, Secretary Song thought to herself, "Should I believe this girl's endless lies...? No way!"
"Actually, I wasn't finished speaking. I've already got the bicycle tickets, and even reserved the bicycle for you, but I've been too busy with work to let you know. To be honest, I'm the kind of person who either doesn't promise something or, if I do, I always keep my word."
Upon hearing Secretary Song's words, Su Yu was overjoyed.
Secretary Song added, "However, I am really busy, extremely busy. So I will have to give you the bicycle later."
