Chapter 8

Liu Hulan's hairstyle hadn't been modified yet at that time. Su Yu gave the old stylist some pointers, and it still retained a bit of the fashionable style of later generations.

The experienced barber looked at his reflection in the mirror, studied it carefully, and felt that this hairstyle made him look even more energetic than before.

He felt he had grasped a bit of the concept and decided to further study the hairstyle, hoping to make it possible for every comrade with a long braid to get this hairstyle.

Why do women need to grow their hair? They'd be better off working harder than styling their hair.

"How about it, lady?" the old man asked confidently.

"Beautiful. It looks beautiful no matter how you look at it." Su Yu touched her hair with satisfaction. This face is really good-looking; with a little makeup, she looks much more energetic. Once she recovers, she'll definitely be above average. "Master, your skills are amazing! You see, I didn't look great when I came in, but I'm sure I'll get 100% attention when I leave!"

"What is the 'turnaround rate'?" the old master asked, puffing on his pipe.

Su Yu smiled and said, "Even if a hundred people walk past me, a hundred people will look at my head. Master, you've been doing this for many years, right? The same hairstyle as Comrade Liu, but you cut it differently."

The old barber immediately smiled, "Of course, this is a family tradition. My family has been cutting hair for generations. I'll waive the charge for your hair today, but remember to come back for a trim when it grows out, so no one else can ruin it." Cutting hair isn't like selling something, so he can make the decision not to charge you.

"Master, I'm entrusting my head to you from now on. No one is allowed to touch a single pair of scissors," Su Yu said earnestly.

The old master was delighted by this and smiled broadly again.

Leaving the hair salon, Su Yu felt much lighter on her head. Less hair, but still plenty of money—she was extremely satisfied.

In this day and age, everyone tries to save money wherever possible. The original owner didn't leave behind any valuables. Even now, without having to support the original owner's younger siblings, it's difficult for him to support himself.

I never expected that people these days would be so kind and honest. I was even trying to bargain, but they just gave me the meal for free.

When Su Yu returned to the factory, it was almost noon. She wasn't there to go to work, but to thank the union members, especially Yan Fang, as well as her workshop director and other colleagues who had helped her.

Even in the hospital, she didn't rest. She borrowed paper and pen from a nurse and wrote a lengthy thank-you letter, expressing gratitude to everyone in the factory, including the gatekeeper. She also expressed how the company's care and support after this incident greatly inspired her, motivating her to become a model worker and dedicate herself to the factory. To make the letter more sophisticated, she even borrowed current ideological documents, books, and newspapers from the doctors, incorporating classic quotes and inspirational sayings.

For someone who frequently gives speeches, writing this kind of persuasive script is a piece of cake.

There weren't many people in the union office. Two staff members and two committee members. Chairman Sun of the union wasn't there. As soon as Su Yu entered the office, she saw Yan Fang engrossed in writing a draft.

She smiled and knocked on the union's door.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound.

Su Yu smiled and said, "Hello comrades, I am Su Yu from the production department. I was hospitalized for the past two days, and I am very grateful to the comrades in the trade union for their great help and care. I am being discharged today and I have come here to thank you all."

"Comrade Su Yu, why were you discharged from the hospital?"

Yan Fang looked at her in surprise. She had been planning to visit Su Yu at the hospital after get off work.

Su Yu said with a slight excitement, "My body can still handle it, how can I delay my work? I just want to be discharged from the hospital as soon as possible and go back to work. I was discharged this morning and will officially start work this afternoon."

"I am so grateful to everyone in the factory, especially the union members, for taking such good care of me. I am so grateful that I can only write a thank-you letter to express my gratitude."

When the union members heard that Su Yu had come to express her gratitude, they immediately smiled. Those in their positions needed to gain widespread recognition to demonstrate their value.

Zhang, the production committee member of the trade union, was a woman in her forties. Knowing that Su Yu worked in the production department, she smiled and said, "Comrade, you're too kind. There's no need for a thank-you letter. Helping workers is our trade union's duty. It's what we should do. We are all brothers and sisters of the working class. We are all one family."

Su Yu was immediately moved to tears and handed her letter of thanks to Committee Member Zhang. Committee Member Zhang was usually in charge of the production department, and the original owner still knew him somewhat from her memories; he was a strong-willed and straightforward person.

She said gratefully, "It's our duty to do production, but even though we do it well, the factory still praises us. We must also thank the union members for their good work. I am so grateful to Comrade Yan Fang for taking care of me and comforting me when I was in the hospital. She inspired and motivated me. I will definitely become a useful person to the company in the future, and be as proactive and progressive as the union members."

His words praised everyone in the union. Committee Member Zhang couldn't stop smiling. He opened Su Yu's letter and was immediately struck by her strong, powerful, and elegant handwriting.

"Oh, you wrote this yourself?" Committee Member Zhang asked in surprise.

It's not easy for a woman to write such beautiful characters, and the characters even look more powerful than those written by a man.

Seeing Zhang's reaction, Su Yu knew that her hard work in writing the letter had not been in vain. She said shyly, "I wrote it all by myself, stroke by stroke. I didn't study much, so my handwriting isn't very good."
