Chapter 99

Director Liu didn't say anything to Su Dazhi. After all, Su Dazhi was indeed qualified, had worked there long enough, and had made contributions to the warehouse. He was an honest and upright person.

Besides, even if we don't consider his feelings, we should at least consider his older sister, Su Yu.

He's a government leader now, and we used to have a pretty good relationship with him, so we can't make things difficult for his brother.

So Director Liu added a few words of encouragement, "Comrade Dazhi, we have all seen your efforts. You should work even harder in the future to safeguard the warehouse of the textile factory."

Su Dazhi stammered, unable to speak. Happiness had come too suddenly; although his sister had given him a heads-up, he hadn't expected it to happen so quickly. For a moment, he didn't know what to do and could only nod blankly.

Director Liu couldn't stand seeing him like this anymore. "Go on, go on, go back and do a good job."

When Su Dazhi walked out of Director Liu's office, he was completely out of it.

I looked to the left, then to the right, feeling somewhat disoriented.

Deputy Director Wu was waiting for him outside. When he saw him come out, he immediately pushed him towards the warehouse. "Dazhi, how did it go? Did Director Liu give you a hard time? When will you take up your post? You're an old worker now, so there's definitely no need to teach you anything. Let's just hand over the documents, and I can leave too."

Su Dazhi then realized, "Team leader, Director Liu, I'm the team leader now."

"I'm not the team leader anymore, I'm the deputy director!" Team Leader Wu said excitedly.

"..."

"Alright, let's go, let's go hand over the work." Deputy Director Wu walked into the warehouse with her hands behind her back. Several warehouse workers were working inside. She didn't pay any attention to them and led Su Dazhi directly to the office inside. It wasn't really an office, just a small room partitioned off with templates, usually used to lock up some documents.

Once inside, Deputy Director Wu pushed Su Dazhi into a chair and said, "Su Dazhi, you must work hard in the future. Our warehouse has a bright future ahead of it."

That's a bit of an understatement. The warehouse isn't like the production department; it's hard to get ahead. Otherwise, she wouldn't have taken so many years to rise through the ranks. Many warehouse keepers stay in that position until they're old. The only advantage is the ease; you can just coast along until you're old.

Su Dazhi sat in the chair, looked at the dilapidated office, and slowly came to his senses.

"Team leader... Director Wu, will I be sitting in this position from now on?"

"Of course you sit here, I recommended you!" Deputy Director Wu excitedly rummaged through the desk and found a pile of documents. "You know these, right? They're all original documents. I didn't touch anything; they're all in here. You've seen me do this a lot, so you know how to do it, right?"

Su Dazhi nodded.

"You don't need me to teach you, do you?"

Su Dazhi continued to nod.

Deputy Director Wu patted him on the shoulder excitedly, "Comrade Dazhi, do a good job! I'm off now."

After finishing, he carried his teacup and lunchbox and headed straight for the service area.

No more guarding the warehouse, I have more people to manage now. I can even chat with those old ladies again, it's great!

Behind her, Su Dazhi watched her run off in a daze, then went over and closed the office door, sitting inside alone. He touched this and looked at that. Things he wouldn't normally dare to touch, he could now handle however he wanted.

Because... he's a leader now.

Su Dazhi felt a surge of warmth welling up inside him, slowly traveling up his neck and face, finally emerging from his eyes.

He silently covered his face with his hands, his voice choked and hoarse, "Sister..."

In the office, Su Yu sneezed, and everyone looked at her.

Su Yu rubbed her nose and said embarrassedly, "You've changed recently."

Zhu Ping from the Urban Construction Bureau said, "Indeed, the air has gotten warmer."

Secretary Song stood up, silently picked up the thermos and poured herself some water, then poured water into Su Yu's teacup as well, saying seriously, "Advisor Su, this is a crucial time for work, you must take good care of your health. Health is the foundation of everything. You can't let anything interfere with your work."

After putting down the water bottle, he started working.

The others glanced at Secretary Song, then gave Su Yu a reassuring look.

Su Yu smiled, picked up her teacup, blew on it gently, and slowly drank the hot water.

After get off work, the two lingered for a while before finally leaving the office.

Seeing that no one was around, Secretary Song came over and said, "Are you feeling better? Should we go buy some medicine?"

"It's alright. You can't just take medicine anywhere," Su Yu said while packing her things. "But Secretary Song, isn't it a bit inappropriate for you to leave so late?"

"I'm usually busy, and I always leave late."

Su Yu smiled without saying a word. "I'd never believe you."

The person who came to pick him up today was Su Zhi. Seeing that Secretary Song was also there, he happily greeted Secretary Song, "Secretary Song."

"Oh, it's your brother," Secretary Song greeted with a smile. "Here to pick up your sister?"

"Yes, my older brother isn't feeling well today, and I'm worried about him."

Upon hearing this, Su Yu asked, "What happened?"

"I don't know. He seemed a bit dazed, and his eyes were red. I didn't feel comfortable letting him pick me up, so I rushed over instead."

"..." Could it be that just because she was promoted to team leader, things have turned out like this? That's too much... She touched her forehead and got into Su Zhi's car.

Seeing that Secretary Song was about to follow, she said, "Secretary Song, weren't you supposed to go home early today?"

"Is there?" Secretary Song asked.

Su Yu looked at him.

“…Yes, I’m leaving now, goodbye.” Secretary Song said, and rode her bicycle home.
