Chapter 24: Learn to make your own decisions!

The village chief's grandson, Gou Dan, is three years old now. He should be walking steadily by now, but in this day and age, everyone is hungry and thirsty. Even adults are weak, let alone a small child. It's inevitable that he will look unsteady.

Fu Weidong hadn't finished his compressed biscuit paste yet, but the sweet aroma made him swallow hard.

A pair of round eyes stared longingly at Fu Weidong.

Fu Weidong glanced at Fan Xiaofan without realizing it, and Fan Xiaofan just smiled and patted his head: "These are your things, you have to learn to make your own decisions..."

The Brahma family raises children in a way that is never rigid and authoritarian, like the kind of family where parents give orders. They are good at respecting everyone's ideas and will not easily deny other people's choices. It is because of this that the Brahma family has raised elite talents in all walks of life, making them a force to be reckoned with.

Fu Weidong blinked and gestured to Gou Dan, "Let's eat together. Thank you for the wild vegetables."

Dog Egg's eyes lit up, and he bit his finger, asking, "Is it okay?"

Fu Weidong nodded affirmatively. Gou Dan was always a clever person. In the Li family, he was the one who liked to negotiate with the adults the most. He immediately said, "Next time I catch a cicada, I'll eat it with you."

The two little dumplings ate bite by bite, while Fu Weidong listened curiously as Gou Dan talked about something called a cicada, which he had never seen before. The two little heads were huddled together, and they spoke in childish language.

Gou Dan exaggeratedly said how delicious cicadas were, and Fu Weidong's eyes also sparkled.

Fan Xiaofan was drawing blueprints. She felt that the single-cylinder tractor in the village could be improved under the existing conditions, but she needed to calculate the various parts carefully, otherwise it would not be easy to find new parts.

As Gou Dan was about to leave, Fan Xiaofan said, "Tell your grandfather that I'll be over in a bit to discuss something with him."

Dog Egg hurriedly responded and strode home on his short little legs.

The village chief's wife noticed that Gou Dan had been gone for so long delivering wild vegetables, and was about to ask what was wrong when the little child in the house started making a fuss.

"Grandma, Gou Dan has eaten something good..."

The village chief's wife took a closer look and, sure enough, there were still traces of paste around Gou Dan's mouth. She couldn't help but laugh, pulled Gou Dan over, picked him up, and asked, "Gou Dan, what did you eat?"

Dog Egg smacked his lips and said, "Huhu, my brother said thank you for bringing me wild vegetables."

Upon hearing this, the children all started making a fuss, vying to be the ones to deliver it next time.

They occasionally received compressed biscuits from Fan Xiaofan, and the village chief's wife would share them with the little kids. Each child only got one bite, and they were extremely grateful for them.

Li Dafu's face immediately darkened: "Nonsense, you're not allowed to take those precious things."

Gou Dan suddenly remembered what Fan Xiaofan had told him: "Sister said she'll be here in a bit, she has something to say."

She jumped down from her grandmother's arms, looked at her older brother and sister, put her hands on her hips and said, "I'm not going to eat for free. I said I wanted to give it to my little brother, Ma Zhiliao."

"We can too..."

The others persisted.

Li Dafu's head was spinning from their back-and-forth chatter. He told them to go outside and have some fun, but then he wondered what Fan Xiaofan wanted to talk to him about.

Fan Xiaofan ate something at home and checked the time before bringing Fu Weidong over. Fu Weidong played with the children, while she talked to Li Dafu about serious matters.

"An improved tractor?"

Li Dafu's eyes widened instantly, and his voice trembled slightly as he asked, "How confident are you?"
