Chapter 74 Getting into Trouble

Meanwhile, Jiang Yi and Jiang Cheng took a good bath at the guesthouse and finally felt much better.

After leaving the guesthouse bathroom, everyone returned to their own rooms, and as soon as they touched the bed, they unconsciously closed their eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

They were completely unaware that the outside world had turned the place upside down searching for them.

Later, when they found the guesthouse, they were able to find the two people because of the clues left by the letter of introduction. While Jiang Yi and Jiang Cheng were sleeping soundly in the room, the door was banged on loudly.

Jiang Cheng covered his head with the blanket, but the noise continued. Finally, annoyed, he got up and opened the door. Outside was the person in charge of the guesthouse, who said with a stern face, "You are educated youth from the provincial capital. Why don't you follow orders? Do you know how much manpower and resources we wasted looking for you..."

Jiang Yi was also called out.

The brother and sister then realized the enormity of their mistake.

Grandpa Niu frowned as he looked at the two siblings. These two kids had really caused a big commotion as soon as they arrived.

Jiang Yi leaned pitifully against her brother: "We...we didn't see anyone when we came down, and I got all dirty for some reason, so you brought me to the guesthouse to clean me up...we didn't know what to do. We were planning to rest for a while and then go to the commune to ask, but we were too tired..."

Grandpa Niu laughed in anger at her words, and sitting on his oxcart, he said directly, "This old man has been holding up that sign all day..."

Jiang Yi immediately apologized weakly, "We probably weren't paying attention and didn't see it."

Jiang Cheng looked a little guilty. Actually, when his sister was clamoring to go to the guesthouse to take a bath, he had already seen Grandpa Niu. However, when his sister saw the oxcart that Grandpa Niu was driving, her face turned pale.

"Brother, with these conditions, will we be able to take a bath when we get to the village? It's an oxcart...it's so dirty..."

So the two of them avoided Grandpa Niu and left.

They even agreed to say they hadn't seen anyone.

This matter couldn't be allowed to continue indefinitely. In the end, the people from the commune gave them a scolding, saying that no matter what their reasons were, they shouldn't have acted outside of the arrangements.

In the end, Jiang Yi and Jiang Cheng still had to ride in the oxcart they had been complaining about to head to Xiangyang Brigade.

The journey was inevitably quite bumpy, and Jiang Yi couldn't help but say, "It's too bumpy..."

Grandpa Niu, sitting in front, replied without turning his head, "I can at least see the road during the day, but who told me I couldn't see the road at night?"

He did it on purpose. Don't think he's a simpleton. This young girl is trying to make things difficult for him, and she almost blamed him for their mistake...

The old man was terribly wronged.

By the time they arrived in the village, it was already completely dark. Jiang Yi clung to her brother, a little scared. Grandpa Niu led them to the village chief. Li Dafu frowned after hearing Grandpa Niu's brief explanation.

He was still complaining to his wife about how late it was and he still hadn't come home, when he realized something like this had happened.

He comforted Grandpa Niu for a few moments, telling him to go home and rest early, but when he turned to look at Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yi, his expression darkened, and he said in a deep voice, "Our village doesn't tolerate any shady dealings..."

Jiang Yi's face paled, and she was about to say something when Li Dafu waved his hand and said, "I'll take you to the educated youth settlement."

He didn't say anything more.

In the pitch-black night, he walked ahead with a flashlight, while Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yi followed behind, carrying their packages, too intimidated by his face to utter a word.
