The Shi family.
Ruan Jiu sat in the study, adjusted to a comfortable position, crossed her legs, and said, "The Fang family is probably in complete disarray right now."
After Shi Wenye's incident came to light, the entire Fang family was probably very worried. Now, for the Fang family, Fang Jiacheng's previous matter has become a minor issue.
They had no time to care.
Shi Lingheng slowly and methodically placed the last chess piece, calmly saying, "Checkmate..."
Ruan Jiu, who had been in a comfortable mood, suddenly slammed her hand on the armrest of her chair and sat up straight. She had just won a decisive victory, so how did she lose again?
Shi Lingheng's voice rang out: "Therefore, before things have come to a complete end, it is still uncertain who will win and who will lose."
He proceeded with extreme caution, never failing to regard the Fang family as a rival, nor would he become complacent with his current small victory. Such a careless attitude could ultimately lead to failure.
Ruan Jiu's expression also turned serious.
The Fang family's trump cards are not that simple; a slight misstep could give them a chance to turn the tables.
When Ruan Jiu left home and returned to her current place where she lives alone, someone immediately came up to her and told her that Mr. Fang had called her countless times.
He raised an eyebrow, nodded to indicate that he understood, then walked to the sofa and called the Fang family back.
Mr. Fang had been extremely anxious lately. The phone, which he had been waiting for, finally rang, and he eagerly began, "Mr. Ruan..."
Ruan Jiu's smiling voice rang out: "Mr. Fang, I'm sorry, I just went out for a bit and only just got back. Is there anything I can help you with?"
It really comes down to having a good attitude.
Mr. Fang tried to suppress his agitated emotions and make his voice sound relaxed. He was aware of the relationship between Ruan Jiu and Shi Lingheng, but seeing that Ruan Jiu's attitude was good and her reply was in her usual tone, he unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that things were not yet at their worst.
He called Ruan Jiu, partly to probe the situation through their conversation, and partly to urge him to expedite his investigation, at least to gain the time advantage over Shi Lingheng.
After listening, Ruan Jiu smiled and replied, "You don't trust me to handle this? Let me take a look..."
Mr. Fang thought Ruan Jiu was doing something, but Ruan Jiu was just idly tugging at the phone cord a few times before slowly saying, "Let's meet in about three days, and I'll tell you what I've found out."
Just as the call was about to end, Mr. Fang couldn't help but ask one more question: "Um, did you hear the news today?"
Ruan Jiu knew he was referring to Shi Wenye's matter, and her spirits immediately rose. However, she asked with a questioning tone, "What news? I've been quite busy these past few days and haven't really paid attention..."
Mr. Fang on the other end gave a slightly dry laugh and hurriedly said, "It's nothing, I just dealt with someone."
Ruan Jiu then heard the phone hang up, put the receiver back, and lazily said, "Find me some clothes, these are wrinkled..."
As for what I promised Mr. Fang, what is there to investigate? It's just a formality. I'll just wait three days to give him an answer. Shi Lingheng is right. We can't be too careless. We'll have to put in some effort.
After gathering her thoughts, she suddenly jumped up from her chair: "Wait a minute, why am I worrying so much about Shi Lingheng?"
