Chapter 842 Extortion

Old Master Bai is determined to get something in return.

He truly regretted it. Although he had listened to others and let Bai Miaoqin take action to make a fortune, who knew that Ruan Jiu would survive such a disaster, and it was their Bai family who would suffer the consequences.

After Ruan Jiu returned to Beidu, the Bai family's life became quite difficult.

Ruan Jiu glanced disdainfully at the filthy mess that Old Master Bai had smeared on her pants, and forcefully pulled her leg out: "What will the newspapers report tomorrow? That my car hit an old man?"

Old Master Bai cried out in pain, shouting, "I've hit someone! I've hit someone!"

He dared not answer Ruan Jiu's question, and only dared to talk about other things.

Ruan Jiu couldn't stand his behavior and turned to leave. Old Master Bai, however, acted like a drama queen, as if he had been shaken off...

A flash suddenly went off, clearly indicating that someone had taken a picture of the scene.

Shi Lingheng got out of the car, and the reporter who wanted to slip away immediately was dragged out by him. Ruan Jiu took the film from his camera and asked with a half-smile, "Oh, how much did you get?"

The reporter clutched his head and shook his head frantically.

As the crowd grew larger, if Ruan Jiu left now, things would only become more complicated. An old man with white hair looked pitiful, as if he had been hit, while Shi Lingheng and Ruan Jiu, the two young people driving the car, looked more like bad guys who were bullying people.

When Grandpa Bai saw that they had grabbed the reporter, he knew things were going to get really bad, and he started rolling around on the ground, crying, "Ouch, it hurts so much! You hit someone and then you bully them..."

More and more onlookers pointed and whispered, but Ruan Jiu just sneered. He wasn't afraid of losing face...

I went straight into the car and grabbed a speaker that I don't know when it was left there...

"Everyone, please be quiet and listen to me..."

There was a moment of silence, and Ruan Jiu seized the opportunity to speak up: "Everyone, look how far my car is from him, how could I possibly hit anyone..."

Old Master Bai retorted, not to be outdone, "We did run into each other."

Cars weren't very common back then, and most people were afraid of them and didn't know much about them. So when Grandpa Bai said that, they just assumed it was true...

"Even if you didn't collide, I saw you kick the old man who was begging for mercy..."

Ruan Jiu was so angry he laughed. He hadn't kicked anyone; it was just that Old Master Bai was holding onto his leg. He narrowed his eyes. Ah, no wonder…

"They're so domineering! And these young guys from the newspaper, all they wanted was to take a picture, and look at them, they ruined the whole thing..."

It's fair to say that nobody is on their side.

From the crowd, a refined-looking man stepped forward and said, "Since both sides have their own reasons, neither should leave. Let's wait for the police to arrive and handle this..."

Old Master Bai appeared beside Ruan Jiu at some point, his smile lewd and hateful: "Mr. Ruan, as long as you spare the Bai family and give us some compensation, everything is negotiable..."

Ruan Jiu clenched his fists, barely managing to suppress the urge to punch someone. Shi Lingheng glanced at him.

He forced a smile and said, "Dream on."

Old Master Bai was speechless. Something was wrong. This was not what he had imagined. Shouldn't he have agreed to the conditions he proposed to avoid escalating the situation?

His conditions weren't unreasonable...

Forget it, I'll just roll around on the ground a couple more times...
