Chapter 143 Not only did they cut in line for the show, but they also wanted to be the grand finale?

The Lada is a great car. I remember someone saying that driving a Lada in Russia is like driving a rocket.

A small sedan that can feel like a rocket must have incredible power!

I didn't know if it was true or not at the time, but now I can try it.

When processing the car loan application, Li Wengang asked Xing Baohua for the full name of his company.

The service was impeccable, Xing Baohua thought to himself, and he planned to treat Li Wengang to a good meal when he had time.

After getting the car keys, Xing Baohua couldn't wait to get in and take a look.

It wasn't as good as I remembered, nor as bad as I remembered; it was much better than his tuk-tuk.

Although the license plate for the vehicle isn't as convenient as a regular license plate, at least it allows you to drive legally on the road. With all the paperwork in order, what's there to be afraid of?

Furthermore, Xing Baohua confirmed that the feeling of driving like a rocket in Russian territory is a lie; there are only four gears, with only three forward gears excluding reverse. Reaching 80 mph is already quite difficult.

Xing Baohua estimated that if the engine were driven at 80 km/h in third gear, it would likely blow up in less than 20 minutes.

It's been a while since I've driven a manual transmission car, so I'm a bit rusty. I stalled a few times along the way; the clutch was a bit stiff and I wasn't used to it.

Li Wengang grabbed the handrail next to the passenger door and said, "You really didn't buy this license, did you?"

"Nonsense? I'm just a little unaccustomed to it. I'll get used to it after driving for a while," Xing Baohua said, glancing at him. Even if you bought it, you can't tell him you bought it. Didn't you see how nervous you were?

They leisurely drove Li Wengang back home, then picked up Grandpa Li to go to the symphony orchestra.

On the way, Grandpa Li said, "I didn't expect you to be such a jack-of-all-trades! You can even drive a car?"

"Look at what you're saying, you're making a fuss about driving a car. Can't I even drive?" Xing Baohua said, dissatisfied.

"Well, having multiple skills is good; it's never a bad thing. In the future, being a driver wouldn't be bad either; the pay is good, and you can even find a wife!" Old Li joked.

"So, it's not easy for me, the factory manager, to find a wife? You've seen my girlfriend before! I already had one before I became a driver and factory manager. Besides, let me tell you, I'm not the kind of person who's short of wives," Xing Baohua said arrogantly.

Grandpa Li shrugged and smiled slightly, then said, "Hmm, I can see that. You are indeed attractive to girls. Not because of your looks, but because of your talent."

"Teacher Li really has a keen eye! We really do rely on our looks for a living," Xing Baohua said with a smile. Finally, Teacher Li said something he wanted to hear.

The two chatted and laughed as they quickly arrived at their destination.

Upon entering the rehearsal hall, one can hear Zou Wenjuan singing.

"You've made great progress," Teacher Li said as soon as she entered the room.

Xing Baohua looked over and thought to himself, "How could she not improve? She's standing right next to Teacher Zhao, and Teacher Zhao is conducting the band while teaching Zou Wenjuan how to sing. He's basically just guiding Zou Wenjuan to follow the rhythm based on his hand gestures."

The electric band was no longer free and easy; all eyes were now fixed on Teacher Zhao.

It's quite remarkable that an electric band can still keep up with a large orchestra; perhaps it's related to their exposure to these things from a young age.

He watched them train for a while. Only after work did Xing Baohua take Wang Weibao and Zou Wenjuan back to the guesthouse.

"Where did you get this car? Oh, you can drive?" Zou Wenjuan asked as soon as she got in the car and saw Xing Baohua sitting in the driver's seat.

"Driving a car is no big deal. I can drive anything except a spaceship."

"Tch, look at you, so confident. You actually started panting when I said you were panting?" Zou Wenjuan said disdainfully, glancing at Xing Baohua.

A joke earned him a roll of eyes.

Where is Suya?

“He’s at his maternal grandfather’s house. He’ll come over tomorrow,” Xing Baohua said.

"She hasn't been feeling well these past few days, so you should take good care of her."

After hearing this, Xing Baohua turned to look at her, thinking she had discovered something, but still said, "Okay. Thanks for reminding me."

They remained silent the rest of the way until they arrived at the guesthouse. Xing Baohua dropped the two off and then ran to his studio.

Director Wang looks thinner; he's probably been working too hard lately.

"How's the film going?" Xing Baohua asked.

"It's about a third done. Why don't you take a look?" Director Wang said.

“Okay, I’ll take a look first.” Xing Baohua said, following Director Wang to another screening room.

After watching for a little over a minute, Xing Baohua pointed to the words on the big screen and said, "How were these words put up?"

“We write directly on the film! All the subtitles are written on film. If it weren’t for the high standards we have for the artwork, we would have written and drawn on the film to save time,” Director Wang said.

Xing Baohua understood; in the past, film subtitles were engraved on film and then copied.

This style of depiction would save money if it were used for low-budget animated films.

"Put together the shooting schedule for the next two days. I've developed a new product and need to shoot an advertisement for it. We'll start shooting as soon as the product arrives," Xing Baohua said to Director Wang.

"Can't we wait until after filming this movie to shoot the commercial?" Director Wang asked.

"That was my original plan, otherwise I would have brought the products with me this time. But after meeting a group of girls from Jiangsu this afternoon, I had this idea," Xing Baohua said.

"Su Meizi?" Director Wang asked again.

“Yes, come and film quietly. While they're here, it won't cost much. Having foreign girls in the ad makes it so powerful and high-class! Okay, hurry up and arrange it. I still need to call someone to send the products over.” After giving instructions to Director Wang, Xing Baohua got up and went back to the guesthouse.

As soon as I lay down in bed, my brain cells started working again.

I was thinking about the advertising content.

It's actually a very simple advertisement. Regardless of the nationality of the woman used, it's mainly an image-building advertisement. The video ad simply shows a foreign woman typing a few keys on the learning machine, followed by close-ups of the machine and its logo.
