Chapter 16 Audition

"What are you doing here?" Su Ya and the tall, thin man asked each other at the same time.

Su Ya was the first to speak, saying, "I'm here to get something." She then glanced at Xing Baohua.

This suddenly reminded Xing Baohua that he still owed Su Ya a porcelain jar, which he asked her to pick up after get off work. He had been busy all afternoon and had completely forgotten about it.

The tall, thin man also looked at Xing Baohua, then turned to Su Ya and said, "There's a braggart here, I've come over to check him out."

"You know each other?" Xing Baohua pointed to them with her hands.

"Yes," Su Ya nodded in response. She then turned to the tall, thin man and asked, "What did he brag about that made you come all this way?"

"Don't get me wrong, I don't think I came here specifically for him. My dad and I came to inspect the work. I was playing pool with my friends when I overheard that kid looking for a cassette tape, saying he wanted to try out the best sound system in the world." The tall, thin man still had that arrogant air about him, tilting his head back every now and then.

This is a perfect description of judging people by their appearance. This habit needs to be corrected. In his past life, if he were tall and thin, this guy would have gotten beaten up.

Listening to Su Ya and the others' conversation, Xing Baohua roughly guessed that the other party came from out of town and came with his father to inspect the area. So it couldn't be the son of a leader in the city, so it must be from the provincial capital.

No wonder he looks down on people; he's been spoiled rotten.

"Xu Shuai!" Xing Baohua suddenly shouted.

Xu Shuai was staring intently at Liu Juanjuan when Xing Baohua's shout startled him.

"What are you doing?" Xu Shuai shouted back, still choked with fear. He stared at Xing Baohua, mouth agape.

Not only was Xu Shuai startled, but everyone who came in was sent chills down their spines by that shout. The tall, thin man muttered, "Is he crazy?"

"Come here," Xing Baohua beckoned Xu Shuai to come to her side.

Xu Shuai, who had walked over, said in a slightly lower voice, "What are you doing? Why are you making such a fuss? You didn't have to shout so loudly to call me."

"Do you have any money left in your pocket? Go to the supply and marketing cooperative and buy me a porcelain jar," Xing Baohua said.

"No, can't we go later? I'll put on some music now." Xu Shuai thought Xing Baohua was trying to get rid of him.

"I borrowed the computer room this morning and promised to buy her a new porcelain jar. I've been busy all afternoon and forgot about it. Hurry up and run an errand for me," Xing Baohua said.

"You borrowed the computer room and then bought a new ceramic jar! Wait, what happened? Did you break the jar or did you use it?" Xu Shuai asked curiously.

"Why are you making such a fuss? Go on, wait for Liu Quan to come back before you start singing." After saying that, Xing Baohua walked over to Su Ya.

"I asked Xu Shuai to buy a jar for you. Please wait a moment."

“No rush, you can buy it for me another day,” Su Ya said.

"Xu Shuai has already run off, you can wait a moment. I'll adjust the equipment on my end," Xing Baohua said.

"When did you start bragging?" the tall, thin man asked hastily.

"Didn't I tell you to wait for the record to arrive? Just wait a moment?" Xing Baohua said, ignoring him.

Su Ya turned her head to look at the tall, thin man, her eyes filled with curiosity. She asked, "Sun Changjie, is your father being transferred here for work?"

“I really don’t know that, but I can tell you definitively this time that I really came down here with my dad,” Sun Changjie said.

"You're such a grown-up, all you do is play around. Why don't you find a job? Doesn't your dad care about you?" Su Ya continued to ask.

"Who said I don't have a job? Putting me aside, I heard you broke a computer a while ago and cried about it."

"None of your business. How did you know that?"

“That day, my grandfather was playing chess with your maternal grandfather, I think it was your factory manager or someone I don’t know. He told your maternal grandfather about this, and when you cried, they laughed.”

"These old geezers," Su Ya muttered angrily.

“Indeed. They have no compassion at all. Last time I was learning to drive, I crashed into someone's stall, and my grandpa was still smiling and apologizing to them, without caring at all about whether I lived or died.”

“You deserved it,” Su Ya said.

"What happened to your computer later? Did you throw it away?"

Su Ya looked at Xing Baohua and said slowly, "No, he fixed it."

“Him?” Sun Changjie was also looking at Xing Baohua’s back at this moment.

While everyone was chatting, Liu Quan ran back. He was carrying several records in his hand, packaged in plastic boxes with oversized covers that looked quite exquisite.

Upon seeing Liu Quan return, she beckoned him over. Then she noticed Xu Shuai following her in. Wait, wasn't Liu Juanjuan just here? Why is she following behind Xu Shuai?

"Brother Quanzi, you're finally back. I'm in time, hurry up and put it on the machine." As he spoke, he took a few quick steps and ran towards the workbench, also shoving the porcelain jar into Su Ya's hand along the way.

Looking at the porcelain jar held by the straw paper, Su Ya was speechless.

"What are you running for?" Xing Baohua said to Xu Shuai in an annoyed tone. Taking the record from Liu Quan, he said, "Go find some chairs. Go and call the people in. Close the door? And close the window too."

"There's no need to close the doors and windows," Xu Shuai said.

“Just go when I tell you to, why are you making so many excuses?” Xing Baohua said, glaring at him.

"What does this mean! A dance party?" The tall, thin man asked with a disdainful smile after seeing Xu Shuai close the window first.

"It's a small music appreciation concert. Closing the doors and windows is to create a reverberating space in the room, producing an echo. Stereo sound is even better," Xing Baohua explained.

"So particular. Alright, I'll listen carefully today." As she spoke, she walked up to Liu Quan, took two stools from his hand, and handed one to Su Ya.

After the two sat down, Sun Changjie said to Su Ya, "I suddenly have a feeling that this kid isn't just putting on an act?"
