Chapter 20 I have a nickname, Xiao Fang

The amplifier and speakers employ a craftsmanship and aesthetic that surpasses those of over thirty years ago, and the metallic texture has a very high-tech feel.

It looks nice, but it's incredibly heavy. Unfortunately, Xing Baohua didn't have many materials on hand, so the stainless steel sheets were sourced from a machinery factory.

Anyway, it was the first prototype, so it was made with high-quality materials and didn't cost much. Most of the materials were taken from the factory.

"Vinyl records still have better sound quality," Xing Baohua thought to himself as he listened to music and then turned on his lazy mode.

Xu Shuai and Liu Quan had nothing to do, so one squatted by the door eating watermelon and watching the road, while the other studied circuit diagrams to improve his skills.

After finishing his watermelon, Xu Shuai wiped his hands on his pants and said to Xing Baohua, who was lying on the chair, "Hua Zi, something might have happened at the factory."

"What could possibly be wrong?" Xing Baohua slightly opened her eyes, tilted her head to look at the other person, and asked.

"There are more cars coming and going today. Seven or eight cars are going in and out. Maybe some officials have come down to inspect the area," Xu Shuai guessed.

"Maybe, but it has nothing to do with us. Who would come to our repair shop? Look at what we have here, do you think we'd come to see that pile of appliances in the corner?" Xing Baohua said slowly.

"I just don't understand, since we've set up a repair department, why won't the warehouse supply us with materials? We've been submitting applications for ten days or half a month already," Xu Shuai complained.

"Aren't you feeling restless? You seem a bit irritable today. Have some watermelon to calm yourself down. It's getting hotter and hotter," Xing Baohua said.

“Don’t lie there like an old man all day. Do you want me to get you a recliner so you can sit by the door and rock back and forth?” Xu Shuai said.

"That would be great! Go quickly and get me another teapot," Xing Baohua said with a smile.

Xu Shuai pursed his lips and walked to the door when he saw a colleague from the factory office coming over.

He walked to the door and said to those inside, "Starting today, your repair department needs a thorough cleaning to keep it tidy and clean! Leaders and foreign guests are coming to inspect. Do you hear me?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Shuai went over and quickly handed him a cigarette, saying, "I know, I know, I guess it's someone from above coming down to inspect."

The two then chatted at the entrance. Xu Shuai was trying to find out where the leaders and foreign guests who came to their factory were from.

The factory ordered a massive cleanup, requiring every nook and cranny to be thoroughly cleaned. They were willing to halt production rather than compromise on hygiene. Some people looked very busy, while others looked very idle.

They worked together, chatted in groups, and it was as lively and bustling as the Chinese New Year.

Su Ya and Liu Juanjuan's office was also cleaned spotlessly, and all the places that needed wiping were wiped until they were sparkling clean.

"Sister Juan, what song are you humming? It sounds really nice," Su Ya asked Liu Juanjuan, who was wiping the filing cabinet.

"Oh dear, it was just something made up by some love-struck fool. I heard it last night and thought it sounded really good, so I learned a few lines," Liu Juanjuan said.

"What kind?" Su Ya asked, staring wide-eyed as if she hadn't heard clearly.

"You love-struck fool, listen! Your beautiful braids are entwined in my heart." Liu Juanjuan sang playfully, her head swaying slightly as she looked at Su Ya's two braids hanging over her chest.

"Oh dear, Sister Juan, why are you like this?" Su Ya thought Liu Juanjuan was joking with her, so she picked up a rag from the table and threw it at Liu Juanjuan, her face slightly flushed.

"How devoted must one be to compose a song like this!" Liu Juanjuan exclaimed.

"Sister Juan, where did you hear that from? Why are you staring at me like that?" Su Ya said, glancing down at herself.

"I heard Liu Quan sing this when I was at the club last night. Liu Quan said it was written by Xing Baohua." As he spoke, his eyes glanced at Su Ya again, making it obvious that it was written by Xing Baohua for Su Ya.

Su Ya's face flushed red, and she immediately covered her face, at a loss for what to do, stomping her feet on the ground.

Liu Juanjuan's words echoed in my ears again: "It's a pity there are only four lines, I'll sing them for you."

These few words struck a chord in Su Ya's heart.

My body trembled slightly, and my mind went blank.

"Su Ya, Su Ya." Liu Juanjuan saw Su Ya standing there blankly, so she went up to her, patted her shoulder, and called out twice.

Coming to her senses, Su Ya slumped in the chair with her legs tightly closed, her face still flushed.

"He also composed a song for a girl named Xiaofang," Liu Juanjuan added.

"Ah!" Su Ya was truly shocked this time, her body even stiffening slightly.

"There's a girl in the village named Xiaofang. She's beautiful and kind, with big, beautiful eyes and thick, long braids," Liu Juanjuan sang softly.

After hearing those few words, Su Ya's heart melted. Her heartbeat quickened. She also wondered, "How did he know I was called Su Fang when I was little?"

When Su Ya was born, her grandfather named her. Later, feeling that there were too many people named Fang, her maternal grandfather took the middle character Ya from the poem "Elegance and Ode" as her name.

If Xing Baohua were here and heard this, she would immediately realize how huge the misunderstanding was. She would also say, "Who the hell can I complain to? Who the hell knew your name used to be Xiao Fang?!"

Staring blankly and dumbfounded at Liu Juanjuan, he whispered with trembling lips, "Juan, Sister Juan, my childhood name was once a fragrant one."

This time, it was Liu Juanjuan who was surprised. She stared at Su Ya with wide eyes. After a moment, she quickly walked to the door, stuck her head out, looked left and right to make sure no one was there, and then immediately closed the door.

She ran over to Su Ya with small, quick steps, then pulled over a chair and sat down, asking, "I heard Xu Shuai mention that Xing Baohua told you he wanted to date you."

"But there were too many people at the time, so I didn't agree. I'd heard before that he was a good-for-nothing good-for-nothing," Su Ya said in a low voice.

"I've heard about his scoundrel past, but it seems he's changed. Hey, seeing him write a song for you, he really cares about you. What do you think?" Liu Juanjuan asked in a low voice.
