He was able to get in smoothly for two reasons: first, his superiors had specified that he needed to use a dedicated line; and second, it was due to his identity.
When he had some free time, he lit a cigarette, and soon a red light on the wall came on.
The person who greeted him pushed the door open.
Pointing to the cigarette in Xing Baohua's hand, he said, "Smoking is not allowed here." Then he pointed to a smoke sensor on the roof.
Do these things still exist these days? Where are they made?
Xing Baohua put out his cigarette and said, "They told me to wait for a call, but I don't know how long that will take."
Just as he finished speaking, the red phone rang. Xing Baohua went to answer it, and the person who had been receiving him tactfully went out to close the door.
Xing Baohua answered the phone and said: This is Xing Baohua.
Where is it now?
"They wouldn't let me take it in at the gate. They were holding a gun and watching over me, so it should be safe."
"I'll be going there with the department leaders tomorrow. Don't go anywhere. I'll arrange a place for you and someone to watch over your things."
"No, Xu Si, I have an appointment tonight, and I can't postpone it."
"Who is this person? Who else have you told about this? Also, you need to learn about confidentiality procedures in the future."
"Why would I learn that stuff? I'm going to see Professor Cheng from District J. I haven't fully told him about this yet; I've just asked him to send a few experts over to study it together."
Xing Baohua spoke frankly.
"You should start studying as soon as you get back this time."
"No, am I allowed to see them or not?! Why do I feel like I have no freedom at all?"
Don't you understand the importance of this thing?
"If I didn't ask you to help me find a few people and just took it back to the factory to study it for fun, what could you do to me?"
"You!" Xu Si was so angry that he couldn't speak for a moment.
This kid meant well, but he's just ridiculously clueless. It's like even the most valuable things are nothing to him.
The ministry has already issued a notice, so why bother notifying District J? Is it to give the higher-ups something to do and make them want to bang their fists on the table for fun?
"I didn't say I was restricting your freedom. You can do whatever you want! But I'll have people protect your things."
He hung up the phone after saying that.
Xing Baohua walked out of the room and stood outside smoking a cigarette. After a while, the person who was supposed to greet him appeared and said to Xing Baohua, "The place has been arranged for you. Go and rest for a while. I will send you a car for your convenience."
Xing Baohua then saw a brand-new Volkswagen Santana drive up, followed by two small Jeeps.
Upon arriving at the entrance, I took my suitcase from the security guard. When I tried to put it in the trunk, the person who greeted me told me to put it in the back seat.
The idle security guard helped cramm them into the back seat, arranged for Xing Baohua to sit in the passenger seat, and his secretary was arranged to sit in the car behind.
Two people sat down in the back row, and without saying a word, they took out handcuffs and handcuffed themselves, while the other end was handcuffed to the handle of the suitcase.
The receptionist appeared at the window and said to the people in the back row, "No matter what happens, you must not leave this place for 24 hours. As long as you are here, the box will be with you!"
"yes!"
Xing Baohua, sitting in the front, was so surprised she couldn't speak. Was this really necessary?
If you can return safely, what could possibly happen to you in China? The more elaborate your preparations, the more attention you'll attract.
But Xing Baohua had no choice. Now he regrets it a little. He should have gone back to Luzhong and called Xu Si. Who knew the other party would be so sensitive?
The place we stayed wasn't a hotel or guesthouse; it looked dilapidated and resembled a building from the 1950s or 60s.
But inside, it was a hidden gem; the decor wasn't fancy, but you could tell it was luxurious.
The room we stayed in was a little small, but it had everything we needed.
Double bed, TV, bathroom with shower.
There were seven or eight people following behind him, all in plainclothes, but you could tell they were people of high status.
Several rooms were set up on either side of Xing Baohua's room, one of which was used to store Xing Baohua's suitcase.
Well, I can't even get a change of clothes out. Let alone the photos and stuff inside.
When evening came, Xing Baohua notified the plainclothes officers on guard at the door that he was going out.
I got into the arranged car to meet with Teacher Cheng.
When we arrived at the small restaurant that Teacher Cheng had specified, Teacher Cheng had already ordered and started eating.
He frowned slightly when he saw Xing Baohua come in.
Xing Baohua walked over and called out to Teacher Cheng.
Teacher Cheng put down the cash register and said with some dissatisfaction, "Now that you're a big boss, you should be able to find a more upscale restaurant. Are you trying to be like a nouveau riche now that you have money, hiring a couple of lackeys as bodyguards or thugs?"
Xing Baohua sighed, sat down, poured himself a drink, and said, "It wasn't my arrangement; it was the municipal government that arranged it. Do I even need to apply to meet with you?"
"You've made a mistake. It's no use coming to me! I'm just a technician, and the system isn't working properly either!" Teacher Cheng said, looking at the two people and teasing Xing Baohua.
When the two appeared at the small restaurant, Teacher Cheng noticed them, and their eyes were looking around as if they were scouting the surroundings.
When Xing Baohua sat down, one person sat on the outer edge, and another sat not far from Xing Baohua. Their eyes were never on him, but rather fixed on their surroundings.
It was obvious that someone had increased Xing Baohua's security detail.
"I think I'm starting to regret asking you to come. Let's eat first! This isn't the place we agreed on."
"Alright! Since we have time to talk, drink less. I'm afraid you'll talk nonsense if you drink too much."
"Just one glass. It's been a while since I've had baijiu. I've been traveling around lately, drinking red wine, beer, champagne, and stuff like that, none of which suit my taste." As he spoke, Xing Baohua raised his glass and toasted Teacher Cheng in the air, downing more than half of the glass.
