Chapter 24: Just two chickens, take it or leave it.

Hou Liwei moved a few steps to Xing Baohua's side and said, "According to the organization's regulations, the factory is responsible for receiving foreign guests. Your unauthorized changes to the foreign guests' meals have violated the organization's relevant regulations."

Xing Baohua glanced at him, then turned to Liu Li and asked, "Are there these regulations also applied to foreign-related matters?"

Liu Li looked at the two of them, nodded, and said to Xing Baohua, "The relevant systems and regulations have already been sent to the machinery factory in advance. There are relevant standards for food and accommodation. You have violated the relevant systems and discipline by doing this without the approval of your superiors."

Xing Baohua didn't answer Hou Liwei's question; in fact, he didn't take him seriously at all. He turned to Liu Li and said, "Let me introduce myself. My name is Xing Baohua, and I'm a full-time employee of the machinery factory. My title? Self-proclaimed electronics and electrical engineer."

Su Ya chuckled. She had been watching this man closely, but she hadn't expected him to say such shameless things.

Self-proclaimed electronics and electrical engineer? How big of a face does one have to be to support such a title?

Hou Liwei's face darkened instantly. He thought to himself, "You, an appliance repairman, dare to call yourself an engineer? Even if you self-proclaim it, it's unacceptable. This is a blatant disregard for the factory's senior engineers!"

He immediately said sternly to Xing Baohua, "Be serious. There are foreign guests here. Watch your words and your image."

Xing Baohua glanced at the three foreigners who were working and said to Hou Liwei, "They have to be able to understand it! If they could understand it, what would we need this translator for? Right, beautiful lady?"

Xing Baohua asked with a smile as his last question.

Liu Li felt an urge to roll her eyes, but she held back. She glanced at them indifferently, then turned her attention to the foreign guests, listening intently to what they were saying.

"Don't try to be glib or play those tricks. Your unauthorized invitation of foreign guests violates organizational discipline, and I don't agree to it," Hou Liwei said.

“I don’t care whether you agree or not. I just asked about the reception issue. The regulations require the factory to provide reception, right? I’m a factory employee, and I have this obligation. Besides, the maintenance department is also within the factory premises, so isn’t this equivalent to our factory providing reception?” Xing Baohua said, pointing at Hou Liwei.

The people around them didn't dare to interrupt the conversation between the two, especially the director of the first workshop, who looked a little anxious and wondered if he should call Director Liu back.

The three foreigners also heard the noise and watched the two talking. Unable to understand the conversation, they made guesses. One of them, Reeber, pointed at Xing Baohua and asked the other two, "What is he doing?"

“Who knows? Maybe he’s a manager-level supervisor, dissatisfied with his subordinates or something? Okay, whatever, let’s get this sorted out. I want to know what a party in China is like,” George said.

If Hou Liwei could understand them, and they happened to see Xing Baohua pointing at him, they would mistakenly think he was Xing Baohua's subordinate being reprimanded. Hou Liwei would be incredibly frustrated.

Liu Li, the female translator, overheard the foreigners' conversation and was also a bit puzzled. She wondered to herself, what exactly does this Xing Baohua do? Is his title really that high?

"You, you're being unreasonable. I'll report this to the leadership in a minute, you just wait!" Hou Liwei was about to shout when he saw so many eyes on him and started to back down. He still cared a lot about his image.

Foreigners don't care; they're used to superiors criticizing subordinates and subordinates talking back to superiors. All they want to do is finish their work and go to the party.

"Go ahead and wait, you think you can fire me then?" Xing Baohua said confidently. He was now a permanent employee, and unless he had done something terribly wrong, the company wouldn't just fire a permanent employee arbitrarily.

"You." Hou Liwei pointed his finger at Xing Baohua's nose, unable to utter a single word. This time, he was truly enraged. He flicked his finger and walked towards the office building.

During this time, Xing Baohua also joined the foreigners for casual conversation. He observed them repairing equipment, but he was unfamiliar with some of the larger machinery. Fortunately, there were engineers from the factory who could help translate and also provide them with some equipment information.

Half an hour later, Director Liu returned. He still took the matter reported by Hou Liwei seriously, and the meeting had to be suspended just as it began to deal with Xing Baohua's matter first.

Upon arriving at Workshop One, they summoned Xing Baohua to the workshop duty room. They immediately asked, "I brought you here to translate, but what are you trying to do? Why did you suddenly decide to receive foreign guests? This is a serious violation of discipline."

"Director, it wasn't my idea, it was their request." Xing Baohua immediately feigned innocence.

"What happened? What did the foreigner ask for?" Director Liu asked. He had only heard Hou Liwei's side of the story and hadn't figured out exactly how it had happened.

"When I was chatting with them, they said the food in the cafeteria was terrible, and the alcohol was awful. One of them even said to hurry up and finish this so we could leave," Xing Baohua began to ramble on with a straight face. In any case, apart from the female translator, no one could understand what they were talking about.

Xing Baohua could only shift the blame to the foreigners, using them as a shield. Otherwise, how could he continue to fleece the factory? He could keep doing so.

Director Liu listened attentively and nodded, signaling Xing Baohua to continue.

“I thought, since they’ve come all this way, if we don’t treat them well, it will have a bad influence on our factory if word gets out. So I thought, why don’t we treat them privately as friends? And they agreed.”

Xing Baohua shrugged, as if he had been forced into this situation. It was as if he genuinely cared about the factory's interests.

She continued, "Just like here, they also want to visit each other's homes. I thought since it's a friendly visit, let's not be too formal and just treat them like friends. When I get back at noon, I'll think about what to cook that will suit their tastes."
