Chapter 251 These big swindlers!

At 7:30 p.m., Xing Baohua went there with only bodyguards.

After finding Woz, he introduced himself to his friends and then started chatting.

This small charity gala focused on protecting several rare fish species in the ocean.

Xing Baohua felt that the people of America were really rich and had nothing better to do.

Woz seemed to notice Xing Baohua's confusion and explained briefly, "This is a game that rich people often play. They can do charity under any pretext, mainly to avoid taxes."

It's definitely a game for the wealthy; the richer they are, the more tricks they can play.

I've seen many wealthy people contribute to charity, donating tens or hundreds of millions. It's not because they're suddenly kind-hearted, but simply because they don't want to pay more taxes.

In reality, they are still heartless people at heart, and they have never changed.

During the gala, many celebrities brought out their own items for everyone to bid on.

Actually, these are all things that celebrities don't care about. One of the actresses brought out a bikini with a top and bottom structure that she wore when she was filming and put it up for auction.

The upper part is missing; only a tiny bit of the lower part remains.

It actually sold for a whopping $37,000.

Are you crazy? Just a pair of underwear, and it's even been worn?

One dares to sell and the other dares to buy.

Wozniak then told Xing Baohua that there would be a cocktail party after the auction.

There's also an unwritten rule: if a girl puts something up for auction, and someone happens to bid on it.

There's a 90% chance they'll follow the auctioneers tonight.

The cocktail party is just a way for the two people to get to know each other.

Xing Baohua was a little confused. What were the girls after?

Even if it fetches ten million, I probably won't get it, right? Unless there's a kickback? Otherwise, why would I let them play for free?

Wozniacki encouraged Xing Baohua to give it a try.

Xing Baohua shook his head, indicating that he was not interested. What was the difference between these famous actors and streetwalkers?

As expected of the wealthy, they always find new ways to have fun. I wonder who organized this charity gala; it's an insult to the word "charity."

As the party began, Xing Baohua held a glass of champagne, smoking a cigarette as he watched couples chatting and laughing.

It felt like a waste of time, while Woz was chatting happily with a woman who looked like a Latina, holding a wine glass.

Suddenly, a girl walked past Xing Baohua and said to him, "Could I have a smoke too?"

"OK!" Xing Baohua took out a box of Wanbaolai cigarettes, gave one to the other person, and lit it for her.

The girl didn't leave. After taking a couple of puffs of her cigarette, she asked Xing Baohua, "Don't you have any gifts you like to auction today?"

"Yes!" Xing Baohua nodded and said, even raising his champagne glass to toast and taking a small sip.

Of all the drinks at the party, only the champagne's light flavor suited Xing Baohua's taste, so he drank it like a beverage.

"My name is Ellie! And you? From Chinatown?" the girl asked Xing Baohua after taking a sip of her drink.

“Xing Baohua, from country Z,” Xing Baohua replied.

"Oh, I heard the conditions there aren't good. Are you planning to immigrate here?"

"No, to be precise, I'm here to earn US dollars," the guy said, laughing.

The girl laughed along, as if it were a lame joke: people who come to America are all here to earn US dollars.

"Hey! I have a great project. Want to hear about it? It can make you rich, really rich!" The woman named Ellie said, staring intently at Xing Baohua after she finished laughing.

"Oh! Tell me about it." Xing Baohua felt that the other party was taking advantage of him!

“Do you know the Rebdel Corporation?” Ellie asked.

"I haven't been in the Great America for long, I've never heard of it, what does it do?" This guy really hadn't heard of it, he spread his hands in front of the girl and shook his head slightly.

"This company is a conglomerate integrating bio-chemicals, finance, and food. Their products are very popular in North America," Ellie said to Xing Baohua while smoking.

Then they talked about the company's products, including health foods, various oral micronutrient tablets, and personal skincare products.

Suddenly, Xing Baohua recalled that back in 1998, a classmate's parent dragged him to an Amway store on Jing'er Road and Wei'si Road in the provincial capital to attend an Amway class.

That year, Amway had just obtained its legal license. Xing Baohua took advantage of the holiday to attend classes for two months and filled three small notebooks with notes.

Not only did I waste two months, but I also bought a bunch of products for myself.

Selling and developing a downline is something Xing Baohua can't do, nor can he organize enough people to do it, so the "DD" level or "diamond" level remains a pipe dream.

Anyway, it felt like the girl wanted to recruit him as a downline or something.

Sure enough, the girl continued, "As long as you get a membership card from their company, you can get the lowest discount price at any store or from any individual, depending on your level. The lowest discount is 35% off."

Furthermore, you'll receive a 3% commission on every product purchase made by the customers you refer. If you develop a large enough customer base, you can earn money from the comfort of your home. Think about it, these are daily necessities; the sales volume will be enormous.

Xing Baohua nodded and said, "Sounds good."

"Do you have time? I can come to your place tonight and explain the ranking system and how to make money. A lot of people in the Chinatown are doing it; you can't just watch them sit at home and make money, can you?" the girl said with a knowing expression.

If Amway hadn't taught him a lesson, Xing Baohua would have thought this sales model was pretty good. Mainly because he hadn't experienced the harsh realities of pyramid schemes.

Even if he had read newspapers or something, he didn't know the ins and outs because of the different industries he worked in.

This girl actually wants to go to his place just to get a customer? Seriously, she's not even that good-looking to begin with, and she still wants to take advantage of him.
