Chapter 37 Affiliation, damn it! You're just ripping me off.

Xing Baohua walked over, and Shen Jie handed him the handwritten budget.

The handwriting is messy, but you can still make out the numbers behind each component.

In fact, Xing Baohua was completely clueless about pricing. The reason he looked at prices was simply to find alternatives. He would first think of which component could achieve the same effect at a cheaper price.

A voice rang in my ears, and I heard Shen Jie say, "I got the price based on a monthly production of one thousand units."

Xing Baohua handed the rough budget back to Shen Jie and said, "If our product becomes a hit, will the other party's production capacity be able to keep up with our orders?"

Shen Jie shook his head and said, "These things are in short supply. Not only do we need them, but many factories are also waiting to take delivery. Unless the manufacturers increase production, then the equipment and facilities will need to be expanded. But where will the money for upgrading and expanding production come from? Relying on higher authorities will take time."

Factory Director Li said, "Xiao Xing, you should first prepare the model and make a sample. Also, make the drawings detailed. If you don't know how to make detailed drawings and project tables, go to the R&D department and find a mentor."

Hearing this, Xing Baohua felt that the factory director was putting him down. He always thought that Xing Baohua was from a humble background and lacked any sense of professionalism, perhaps due to the prejudice stemming from the sketches he had drawn.

"I'll show you what formalization is later," Xing Baohua said to Director Li, his tone tinged with emotion.

He was somewhat resentful; if he had the software, he would have painstakingly drawn the diagrams by hand with a ruler.

This is also his way of thinking in later generations. If he had seen the hand-drawn sketches of the architectural master Liang Sicheng, he wouldn't have been so nagging and complaining.

Back in the days before CAD, hand-drawn diagrams served as the standard for CAD drawings.

Unfortunately, Master Liang suffered a great ordeal more than a decade ago. His home was ransacked, his collection was confiscated, and some items were lost. Otherwise, we could see many more precious materials today.

The hand-drawn sketches are for modeling purposes. You can use clay, putty, wood, or even sheet metal. Create detailed dimensions of the appearance and compile them into a catalog.

The rest is the electronics catalog, which lists the total quantities of resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, and so on.

Only based on this overall project list can the cost price be calculated in detail.

Shen Jie previously calculated a rough cost price. He knew a general figure. The exact cost price might be higher or lower than the rough estimate.

A rough estimate is usually used as a standard. When comparing with a detailed cost breakdown, you can adjust the cost by changing components.

Factory Director Li said to Xing Baohua, "Put the plastic for the exterior design aside for now. Our factory has a long-term partnership with No. 1 and No. 2 Plastic Factories. You need to produce detailed data and submit it to them for research. I'll approve the 3,000 yuan R&D allowance for you. But this money needs your and Lao Shen's signatures; he's the head of our factory's purchasing department. Just ask him for everything you need."

"Alright, factory manager, I'll head back now." Xing Baohua said, and only left after the factory manager nodded.

The moment he stepped out the door, he felt a gaze upon him, but he didn't turn around. He walked out calmly, wondering to himself, "Why doesn't the original owner remember this Shen Jie?"

He said goodbye to Su Ya and left; he had too much to do.

After Xing Baohua left, Factory Director Li asked Shen Jie, "What do you think?"

"The design is alright, and we can expand it into several models. The cost of some components can be reduced further. My only concern is that he is still young and may not be able to handle it."

“We’ll be watching from behind. There shouldn’t be any major problems. But can you control the core components he’s developed?” Director Li asked.

“No. He seems to be wary of us too. This kid is very cautious,” Shen Jie said.

"I don't know why he's being so cautious. Normally, factory kids should treat the factory like their own home. Is there something wrong with Old Xing's teaching methods? Haha, I have a one-year agreement with him. If he wants to go into business, let him. But the core operations must be controlled by the factory. If he can hand everything over, I'll give him a big gift. If he continues to be wary, I'll make it difficult for him to even start production." Factory Director Li slammed his hand on the table as he finished speaking.

Xing Baohua returned to the store and wrote down the budget from memory.

Currently, Xing Baohua's only way to get chips is through Zhang Xuebao in the provincial capital. One or two chips are fine, but if he needs more, Zhang Xuebao can at most point him in the right direction to source them.

Now he still needs to refine his feasibility report, compare domestic and international quality control, and compare prices before he can position and launch his calculator.

Previously, we couldn't obtain domestic and international products, so we couldn't compare them. Now, we have to rely on the purchasing department to collect these things. The head of the purchasing department is a capable person; just looking at that thick phone book, you can tell how much effort he's put in.

After dinner, Xing Baohua went to the guesthouse to meet George and the others.

The three foreigners spent half an hour looking at the contract very carefully.

After reading it, they all expressed no objection and signed the contract.

After chatting for another ten minutes or so, Xing Baohua emphasized and gave some instructions before leaving.

"George, are we really going to help him open up the market in the United States? We previously agreed to do it as a side job. Do we need to take it so seriously?" Brier noticed that Xing Baohua's last words seemed to suggest they give up their regular jobs and focus solely on running their company.

Petermont chimed in, "Yes, he's young and has potential, but I don't think we should give up our jobs."

“Guys, listen up, all we have to do is work for him during our vacations, that goes without saying. What if this stuff turns out to be incredibly profitable?” George explained, shrugging his shoulders.

After his two companions nodded, George continued, "This is a magical country, full of geniuses. They developed the mushroom egg with nothing, and even bigger mushroom eggs. They created more artificial little stars to fly into the sky."
