Chapter 39 Pshaw! I'm afraid you'll cut off the power.

Some things must be thought out carefully, much like venture capital in later generations. You can bring in funds and resources first, and also prepare necessary safeguards in case things go wrong; if things don't go well, you can simply part ways.

In later generations, many things would be protected by law, but these days, connections are more effective than anything else. It's impossible for Xing Baohua to take the middle path; there are only two options: one is to find a very powerful family and become their son-in-law. If you can't rely on your father's connections, you can rely on your father-in-law's.

The second point is the concept of "giving and receiving." You have to give to receive. This requires paving the way with a large amount of wealth.

They need to be fed in various places, and even those that are not full need to be fed.

The road is this difficult; we have to keep going whether we want to or not.

The Patent Law will be implemented in 1985, but it will take another year or so. We won't see the light of day until after 1986. As long as it's delayed until then, Xing Baohua can implement many of his plans, which will be the stage in his plan for takeoff.

As I was about to go back inside, I saw Liu Quan carrying two fans back.

"Brother Quanzi, put down the fan later and go to the factory to get some materials for me," Xing Baohua instructed.

"Okay," Liu Quan said as he entered the house. He first removed the outer cardboard box and then assembled the fan.

Xing Baohua was writing up a material requisition form at the workbench. The materials included copper sheet metal, aluminum sheet metal, aluminum alloy, putty, and other materials.

Few of these items are related to calculators, but they are related to custom sound systems.

You get what you pay for; if you have more money, go for better materials. At the very least, the material should look expensive.

Liu Quan took the list and looked at it, then said to Xing Baohua, "Hua Zi, we might not have these materials."

"It's alright. Just bring back what you have, and for the materials you don't have, have them issue a purchase order. I'll contact the purchasing department later," Xing Baohua said. Since he knew the head of the purchasing department, he would make use of this connection.

Machinery Factory Director's Office

Factory Director Li was reading documents when there was a knock on the door, and then Director Xue came in.

"What's the matter, Lao Xue?" Factory Director Li put down the documents in his hand and asked the visitor.

"The No. 4 Factory next door has started production," Director Xue said to the factory manager as he walked to his desk.

"Oh! When did that happen?"

"This morning."

Factory Director Li leaned back in his chair and continued, "Is the production line up?"

"No, not at all. I had someone quickly inquire, and it turns out Zhao Shanhai invited some relatives from his hometown to help out; it seems they're producing loudspeakers," Director Xue said.

"What, producing loudspeakers? Who taught you that?" Factory Director Li, who had just settled down to relax, was shocked by Director Xue's words and sat up straight again.

"I'm not sure about that. I'm guessing it might be related to Xiao Xing. After all, loudspeakers aren't very technologically advanced, and Factory No. 4 used to produce communication equipment, so they had plenty of loudspeakers. Zhao Shanhai probably modified some of their stock. Could it be that Xiao Xing provided the solution?" Director Xue stated his guess.

"It can't be that simple; there's definitely more to this than meets the eye." After thinking for a moment, Director Li picked up a cigarette from the table, lit it, and fell into deep thought.

He continued, "Think about it, what's Zhao Shanhai's background? When he first arrived at the No. 4 Factory, did he have any technicians? Don't underestimate the low technical content of loudspeakers; without someone knowledgeable to guide you, can you just start production? How can you guarantee the quality?"

After exhaling a puff of smoke, he asked doubtfully, "If Xiao Xing gives him the technology, can he handle it? The speakers Xiao Xing makes have chips inside. Where does Zhao Shanhai get those chips from?"

After a moment's thought, Director Xue said, "Why don't we call Xiao Xing over and ask him?"

Factory Director Li nodded and said, "Alright, then call him over."

Director Xue went out and asked someone to call Xing Baohua, while Factory Director Li leaned back in his seat.

The fact that the No.4 factory started production was indeed a bit of a surprise to him. If the products could be sold and the factory had financial support, would it affect the relocation?

Zhao Shanhai is uncontrollable; if he changes his mind, the subsequent plans will be delayed. Therefore, we can only put pressure on him and also try to hinder his production.

As if he had just thought of something, Director Li picked up the phone and called the Infrastructure Department.

"Old Yang! I have a question for you. Where does the transformer station behind the fifth workshop lead to?" Director Li asked Yang Minsheng, the head of the infrastructure department, as he answered the phone.

"Factory manager, please wait a moment, I'll go take a look at the blueprints." With that, Section Chief Yang put the phone aside and went to find the original documents.

Factory Director Li didn't blame him; he had only recently been promoted and it was understandable that he wasn't familiar with the business. Besides, he had asked the question rather hastily.

After waiting a few minutes, Section Chief Yang called out "Hello, hello" twice on the phone.

"explain"

"That's right, Factory Manager. The power line passes through the neighboring No. 138 Factory," said Section Chief Yang.

"You may not understand what I mean. Let me ask you, does this power line run from our factory?" Director Li asked.

"Please wait a moment, I'll go take another look." Section Chief Yang was sweating profusely as he spoke.

These words made Director Li so angry that he almost threw the microphone away. He had no choice but to tolerate the person he had promoted.

"Factory Director, I just checked, and it's definitely being routed out from our factory. Back then, the No. 138 Cave Factory was connected to our factory's main line, and the transformer in Workshop 5 was the branch line between our factory and theirs," Section Chief Yang reported while wiping his sweat.

"Okay, I understand. The fifth workshop needs to be renovated. You need to be prepared in terms of infrastructure and be ready to start construction at any time."

"Yes, the Infrastructure Department is ready for battle at any time."

Factory Director Li, slightly annoyed, immediately said, "Find someone to break the switch. Workshop 5, overhaul it." He was clearly disliking slogans these days.

"ah."

"What 'ah'? Go now." With that, Factory Manager Li slammed the phone shut.
